Which intro do you like best? I personally liked the old one a lot better than the new one. But I guess with rap getting more and more popular these days, they thought that making the theme rap would boost its popularity (although I didn't think the theme song needed to be improved). Love Tech's scene though. ("Activate! Regenerate! Magnetic Powers Levitate!!!) But does anyone else think that Rev's part was a "LITTLE" too short?!?
And in the old theme on Tech's part, there's a movie in the back of Tech looking kind of weird driving this red thing and pushing some button to make things come out that kind of look like wings I always assumed that they would make an episode in Season 1 with that clip, but they didn't. Then I watched almost every episode of season 2 except for the ones not released. Nadda. Did I miss that scene in some episode?
Yeah, Tech did get the best part of the rap... I'm willing to admit that his part was catchy
But Ace had the awesome opening pose as well as the part where he's fighting Sylth Vester where he gets the triple action shot... That made me squee ^^.
However, I do like the old theme better. The rap is a little too goofy for my liking. Also the guy doin' the rap is the same dude that did the voice of that one guy in 'The Music Villain'! Who I also thought was really weird XD
I prefer the S1 opening theme too. S2's rap was a bit cheesy, tho' i'm used to it now.
And i also liked Tech's scene in the S2 opening sequence too. He looked so cool facing off against Melvin! Too bad he didn't really get to confront the Martian in the relevant ep.
Rev did get only a pitiful amount of screen time in the S2 opening didn't he? Poor him.
The background sequence in the S1 opening for Tech's part was not from any of the eps. It was most likely from earlier animations done for the show in its original concept, but these were scrapped when WB decided to make changes to their original character designs. Tho' i'm one of the few people that wouldn't mind seeing the original product actually!
I have mixed feelings about the two intros. When I first heard the second season intro I couldn't help but start laughing, wondering if they were actually serious... But, okay, I'll admit. The catchiness of it has gotten to me... x3 I kind of like it now. Tech's part is pretty cool, yes. And the lack of Rev saddens me, but oh well. The very first part of the intro I always find catchy. xD When they're like, "Rev and Lexi and Tech..." Good stuff. I always wondered though... who's that guy Ace is fighting with his sword while eating a carrot? The wolf looking dude? I've seen every episode of LU save for The Heir Up There, so is that the ep he's from or what? o_o; Anyways, yeah. I'm quite fond of the first intro but I appreciate the second intro in the sense that it has more words to sing to. =3 If they do come out with a third season (which I really REALLY hope they do), I'm curious to see what they'll come up with for a third intro... o:
First Intro When I first watched it, the music got my heart pumping and I screamed "Oh my God! It's on!" at all the authentic animation portrayed on this. Not only that but a few weeks later while watching more eps, I actually made up a slower version of the theme tune. If only you could listen to it. Then you guys would be mesmerised.
Second Intro I liked the rap I have to admit. That song inspired me to draw a bunch of cheer-leaders for the LU characters. I based the squad uniform on the LU uniform the Loonatics have to wear and all of them look cute and cool. I also wanted to learn the words off the song so I could make up a dance routine for them. The animation made me hyperventilate so much, I almost fainted.

Yeah, it was one of the main villains from The Heir Up There.
Akira, you also imagined cheerleaders in the background of Intro 2? It's kinda silly for me with the 'Go-go- Loonatics' type. I prefer the first intro. Way more intense music and it actually feels like they are going to save the day despite all the threats they have to face.

Yeah, it was one of the main villains from The Heir Up There.
And his name is Sylth Vester and he is the descendant from Sylvester.

/That's/ Sylth Vester? o__O; Wow. I would have never guessed that was a cat. x3 Looks like the Big Bad Wolf or somethin'.
I liked the music and animation in the first opening even though the animation can be annoying if you have a headache. The 2nd one had awsome animation (even though I agree with zadavias spirit about Rev's part being too short) and the music was bad. (But not as bad as other show openings) So I guess you can say I like 'em both.

I did something of a rant on the intros over on my LiveJournal the morning of the very first LU episode I ever watched:
Something I forgot to mention in my post this morning was that the opening sequence for Loonatics Unleashed was TERRIBLE! The original opening from the first season was much better. It had a rather cliché prologue, but did at least have what you might call "theme music", and gave all the characters equal screen time. The current one is better in that it uses full screen clips for each character instead of disjointed fragments, but beyond that it was nothing but a slightly rhythmic voice-over with a beat in the background. The dialog for the voice-over was absolutely dismal - "Ace is cool and leads the pack!"? Um, no. "The power to protect and serve."? That's the police motto. Acmetropolis has a police force, and the Loonatics are not it. Also, Ace is featured for twice as long as anyone else, Duck teleports in than immediately away, and you see Rev's beak and eyes (that's it) for all of a quarter of a second before he becomes just a point of flame outlining a triangle like is on their uniforms.
Sorry for getting kinda ranty, but it just irks me when shows don't put any effort into the little things. Whatever happened giving a show a theme song that was just amazing on all counts. Nobody's really done that since Disney in the late 80's/early 90's, with shows like Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, TaleSpin, and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. Hell, even The Disney Afternoon programming block had a great score.
Dead. Sexy. Music.
There was some discussion over on the TV.com forums, too, but that site seems to be having some issues at the moment, so I can't dig that bit out.

Why is it that in the first opening the after effects of the meteor's stike looks like a mushroom cloud? Was that added just for the sake of drama or did Optiatus use something similar to a nuclear bomb to make the meteor?
Though mushroom clouds are generally associated with nuclear blasts, any large explosion will produce one. Large volcanic eruptions often produce them, as do meteorite impacts. No mushroom cloud in the intro would actually be a rather glaring omission.

About the 2nd Season intro, I agree with you. And I think I know why Ace had so much screentime, it's because he's Bugs' descendent, and WB had taken the 'Tics' ancestors popularity and brought it to their descendants. I mean, think about it, Bugs was the mascot, so he's the most popular, right? The other Looney Tunes weren't as popular as Bugs, especially Road Runner. Everyone hated him because he always won against Wile, so what does WB do now for LU? They leave Rev in the background, assuming he's the most unpopular. If Rev's unpopular, then I'm a galactic queen. He's right up there with Tech, who even though he the most is popular, didn't have as much screentime as Ace. So basically, WB made stupid assumptions as to who the most popular and unpopular were.
I`d like it if each of the `Tics were equal in popularity. If you`re going to bother designing a character, you should try to make them likeable, even when they`re a villain (whether because he`s simply that bad-asteroid or enderaingly sympathetic). Although, there`s a few cases when you want the audience to dislike them purposefully, so they can feel a sense of justification for the hero`s actions.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'd put Duck 3rd place and Ace 4th. I think Duck's slightly more popular, because in the episode reviews the viewers tend to be more fed up with Ace's quips than with Duck's. But that's my opinion.

Well I would compare which characters would be most popular according to the intros made by WB and compare it to us fans.
WB
1. Ace 2. Duck 3. Lexi 4. Slam 5. Tech 6. Rev
Compare that to us fans and it's a totally different story (Note: This research was based on other people's favourite characters as well as mine).
Fans
1. Tech (I reluctantly have to admit he is popular but I'm still faithful to Rev.) 2. Rev 3. Ace 4. Duck 5. Lexi 6. Slam
The positions totally change.
It's pretty unfair about how bias Loonatics is. As much as I enjoy watching the show, things have gone way too far lately. I believe for WB, Duck seems to be taking the lead, followed by Lexi, then Ace, then Tech, then Slam and last and never least, the one who should really be kown as the best. But, that's just my fan insticts speaking for itself. On the bright side, Lexi is losing on the fans list.

Hard choice, both openings have their pros and cons. I don't like the first. It is way too generic and kind of scared me away from watching the show. It looked like the show took itself far too seriously. Although, I did have some preconceived notions that this show was going to be a hot steaming pile of rancid donkey crap. Thankfully, I gave the show a try and grew a fondness for it.
The second season opening to more to my liking but Danger and Rev got the short ends of the stick. I love Ace's sword fight with Sylth Vester and Tech's battle with Melvin the Martian, Lexi's brain blasting a rock monster, Duck's pose upon the rock monster remains, supersonic Rev and Slam's wrestling match. Tornado bling-bling bobbles....
My gripes: The music sounds hollow and tinny; it's needs to be funked up some more. A fuller, richer remix of the track could help. Why is Bootsy rapping? He's a funk artist. IMHO, a bona fide funk/hip-hop fusion track would've been a better choice than a pseudo neo-funk rap.
The lyrics are somewhat silly but I've heard worse. Like I mentioned, improve the musical score and it should help to cover-up/uplift the wacky lyrics.
Increase Rev's screentime. Show Danger doing something competent.
Oh, wow. That was actually very good ^_^ The person even had the title screen up for the intrumental part like most anime theme songs And the song really does fit. Do you know what its called??
Black Oracle posted that a while back, but I don't mind watching it again (and again and again and again). The song fits the intro so well. I really hate the original. The first was perfect, WHY did they change it? Good things never last I suppose.
Ah yes, i thought that Japanese tune from Initial D fitted the S2 opening as well! Tho' the real S2 opening theme doesn't make alot of us jump for joy, we got used to it eventually.
Just realized, when Rev and Lexi leap across the circle in the beginning, it seems like the circle's color doesn't change. It seems to stay a pinkish red the whole time. Rexi, maybe? Or am I partly color-blind?
Okay, random question.....in Tech's part in the S2 intro, does it say 'Magnetic power levitate' or 'Magnetic power gravitate'? It sounds like 'Magnetic power gravitate' to me.
Actually, your interpretation of the introduction is a little off; the correct word for Tech's screentime is "gravitate". Good job on translating the lyrics.

Ooh, how about we watch some rollerderby?" "Uh, uh, no, Miss Whoops, that's not for the T.V.! Ow! Bed! Crunching! Oh!" "These remotes are so unreliable..."
Kenny: I'm pretty sure the the second line is "Loonatics attack!". The first line is harder to decipher, but I'm not hearing the 'g' sound that "get set" requires.
The last line of Slam's segment is "Ah, tornado zing bling bobble", the last word being the same nonsense that Bootes Belinda frequently used in The Music Villain, since Bootsy Collins sings the intro and voiced Bootes.
Shirako: Nope, it's definitely "levitate".

[I knew that I messed up somewhere, but I did not realize that I messed up on half the song...I did not even have a reference; I tried to get it by memory.]
The problem with captions is that they are done by someone at each individual station. If WB doesn't provide a transcript, they just type what they hear. However, if you're seeing the same lyrics consistently, either they are probably correct or the same person is captioning each episode. I suppose there will be debate until the S2 DVD is released and we have official subtitles.

Ski: I think it says something about WB in the captions after every episode but I'm not completely sure. It could be something completely different. It's weird but I seem to get these words on every single one and the ones that are different have like three different words. Its all too confuzing. I'm pretty sure its this, but, I've been wrong about things in the past.
Kenny: Ya, you were close to it. Only problem is that I'm not completely sure if this is 100% accurate.
I memerized this song the first day I heard it. I seem to remember theme songs pretty well for some reason.
