The Radical Squadron! Honestly, I don't know why we don't have a topic dedicated to this awesome show, considering Razor is so much like Tech! Anyways, I may have only seen 5 eps, but I love this show so much! I'm just watching Episode 6 now...and one line makes me laugh. Callista: Good-night sir Razor. Razor: Good-night, my queen. T-Bone: *mockingly* 'Good-night my queen'. Come here buddy! I got a hot forge I'd like you to meet! Bwahaha, T-Bone is so jealous in this ep XD Anyways, chat away about SWAT Kats here! =D
I love Swat Kats too! Totally awesome cartoon! One of the best of the 90s! I'm frustrated that they didn't finish producing all the intended episodes of season 2, i've heard there were meant to be more.
I think my fave SK ep has got to be "Mutation City", where Razor really shines! The animation in that ep was top notch too!
For those who don't know, the creators of the Swat Kats, Christian and Yvon Tremblay (i think), also did the character designs for the Loonatics! So there's the link between Swat Kats and LU!
I think Tech was partly designed with Razor's influence! They do look kinda similar in some shots. Plus they're both the brains, inventors and weapon experts of their teams! And Slam maybe slightly reminiscent of T-Bone perhaps? You know, the muscles of the team? Tho' T-Bone was a skilled pilot as well.

And T-Bone speaks english. XD;;
I agree with you extremely about Razor and Tech, I mean...Razor's got a missle for every ep, and Tech has a new invention every ep, not to mention their voices. I think that may have been what the creators were after! Very intresting indeed...*ponders drawing SWAT Kats and LU Crossovers*
Oh, and Charlie Adler does the voice of both T-Bone and Optimatus! There's another SK and LU connection. And Candi Milo does the voice of both Angora, the Kats Eye News reporter, and Zadavia!
The Tech and Razor parallels can't be all a coincidence! But i'm glad if they modelled Tech after Razor in part, that would explain why i found myself so strangely drawn to Tech in the first place, maybe i was seeing Razor in him somewhere...Oh how i miss Razor!
Why was SWAT Kats cancelled again? Violence? Well, look at Loonatics and half the other cartoons on TV today! I don't see them being cancelled anytime soon! *shakes fist* Who knows how far it could've gone if it wasn't cancelled! *clings to T-Bone* Don't leave me plz ;-; T-Bone: Errr...Razor? Razor: I've got my hands full here buddy. *trying to pry off Black_Oracle*
There's being a few suggested reasons for SK's abrupt cancellation. Some say that the violence did it, others say that HB was having problems at the time or something. Can't really remember, but no-one's sure to be honest.
I just hope LU doesn't end up suffering the fate of SK and end after this 2nd season!
Long live LU! *Clings to Razor and Tech even harder.*
One key difference between cartoons of today and the 90s is that these days, a cartoon is going to go the full season, regardless of how well it`s done midway through a season. In the 90s, there were a lot of great cartoons, many of which had planned episodes, concepts or even seasons that never saw fruition, several of which I could write down here if you like.
These days, cartoons are not as high quality in general, but they do have reliability (whether that be good or bad). Now if only some of those good old cartoons could be applied for renewal with all the good modern touches that graces a few cartoons like Loonatics Unleashed. Although, imagine the animators having to handle two cartoons at once.
Aniamtor 1: Hey, (Animator 2), why`d you paint Razor`s face green? Again?
Aniamtor 2: Doh! Sorry `bout that, I got mixed up between Razor and Tech...again. Well, better get the brown cover-over out.
You remeber the rumour that recently had circulated about a new SK cartoon? I'd like to see SK return for sure! But i can't help but worry a little over how they might 're-vamp' the characters. Still, might not happen at all. Just a rumour like i said.
I'd laugh if they had Kevin Michael Richardson voice-act Razor if SWAT Kats came back again XD I just hope Charlie Adler would stay. I can't imagine T-Bone without his smexy gruff voice l3~
KMR as a new Razor?! He! He! He! Well he'd need to put more of a grittier edge to his voice to do that role! But i can't really imagine anyone else but Barry Gordon doing Razor's voice, he was perfect!
Gah, why do so many people favor Razor over T-Bone? *flails* It's just like with Tech and Rev! Or something like that...anyways, good to have another SWAT Kats fan around here!
Yes, it doesn't really matter if we're Razor or T-Bone fans. Just as long as we're all SK lovers! That's all that really matters. (Chuckling to self.) He! He! Razor has more admirers! Take that T-Bone!
One day, we shall over-throw you!! *shakes fist* Just watched up to episode 15. Very intresting indeed, I agree with you about Mutation City's animation, very fluid.
...Plus Chance in a muscle shirt was nice too l3~
Edit: And then...there was Cry of Turmoil. *clutches pillow and sniffles* You had to distract Turmoil, I know but...did you have to kiss her T-Bone? ;-;
You know, some of the characters in SK were...strange looking. Some of them had humanoid touches to their faces (such as Felina and Turmoil) that made them look like bad cosplayers moreso than true anthros. But, the animation was still good (it was one fo my fav cartoons from the 90s era)
Yeah, it's the high-cheekbones and stuff. It just looks...weird. Anne and Calli have the better looking faces of the females, that's for sure. I mean, it's cartoony, and cat-like. Mainly because their eyes are wider, and they have color.

I thought Felina and Turmoil were less feline anthro looking too. They definitely looked more humanoid as you say.

Yeesss, Chance and Jake in work-out clothing! Yum! Tee hee! And well, T-Bone was a little attracted to Turmoil. I bet he even kinda enjoyed that kiss! Who says heroes and villains can't make out! LOL!
Y'know, i always thoght that "The Cloack of Black Velvet" was inspired a bit by the SK ep "Cry Turmoil". Hot femme fatale with a big airship and an army of her own who kidnaps one of the heroes? Sound familiar?

Yeah, now that you mention it, there are a lot of similarities between the two!
*goes back to visualising Chance in work-out gear* Bweeeeheeheeee.....*drowns in own nosebleeding puddle*

Although, some such as Feral were interesting. You couldn`t really portray a gruff, rigid officer effectively without the chin.

This coming from the fangirl who believes Tech and Mastermind shouldn`t get together :P But I myself am indifferent to the pairing.
Y'know, i always thoght that "The Cloack of Black Velvet" was inspired a bit by the SK ep "Cry Turmoil". Hot femme fatale with a big airship and an army of her own who kidnaps one of the heroes? Sound familiar?
Yeah, save for the fact I never really found either "hot". Although, I never actually saw "Cry Turmoil", but I have seen a screenshot.

Yeah, save for the fact I never really found either "hot". Although, I never actually saw "Cry Turmoil", but I have seen a screenshot. True i don't think Mastermind and Tech should get together, but not because one's a hero and the other's a villain. I just see them more as academic rivals and that's it. I was never really given the idea that there was ever any romance between the two. And i still have trouble figuring out why some people think they should be a couple. I don't actually have a problem seeing a hero and villain making out, i mean, look at Batman and Catwoman! Tee hee!
And you haven't seen "Cry Turmoil"? You should! It's short, but has good action and of course T-Bone being deceptive! I agree that i didn't immediately think Black Velvet was particularly 'hot', but the male Loonatics apparently did!
I actually didn't mind Turmoil. She was an interesting female villain to have the Swat Kats encounter. I just love seeing hot villainesses take a shine to the heroes!
But you still don't like TechxMallory! *mauled* Hehehe...I guess part of me doesn't really like Turmoil because of her and T-Bone's relationship. But I must look past that! >3<
Mastermind i don't classify as a 'hot villainess'! And i don't think she was even remotely attracted to Tech in her appearances. She only seemed to despise him. Sorry, but the idea of 'Miss Big Brain' and Tech ever being together still is unappealing to me somewhat. And i don't think you can really draw parallels between Tech/Mastermind and T-Bone/Turmoil.
Such is life, I think we're all hypocrites in our own way. Nobody can be truly open-minded about something, there's always something that people disagree with, no matter how small they may be.
You speak truth Cheri. You think you believe in and support something but then your beliefs are challenged by something else. But seriously, can you imagine Tech and Mastermind making out? *Shudders.* That just don't look right! I'm sure the show writers weren't ever really intending on a Tech and Mastermind romance. Surely they'd have come up with a more appealing or at least acceptable-looking lady if they were wanting a romantic interest for Tech.
Preferably anthro, apparently. Truth be told, unless there`s an equal amount of human and anthro in a character, I guess I, too, prefer human+human and anthro+anthro. Call it funny, but I always figured that if any villainesse, Tech would get together with some kind of fox lady (either an intellectual villainesse from the start, or becoming one due to repeated rejections on Tech`s part)
Hmmm...I might just have gotten inspired for a future fan episoide. I still have an explanation for Tech and Mallory, but it`s a little different from what I originally planned.
this thread inspired me for an odd idea. besides loonatics i'm also in the rayman fandom. it's not so much the games but the fandom itself thats fun. you should see what all the fans come up with (one of amoung them being me.) i think i have more then 40 rayman chars.
in anycase i had a thought of t-bone and razor somehow ending up in the rayman world. thing is,when they come to the rayman universe they take the form of rayians (the name given by fans to raymans speices) with cat features and fur. (this ties in with a rayman creation of mine called wild magic users. i won't explain unless asked to.)
of course their there for an important reason but once again it would take alot of explaining.
Dude, the SWAT Kats as Rayains? Awesome! *laughs* Oh man, I have Raving Rabbids for the Wii, but I don't have the system yet! It taunts me every time I look at it. ;-;
Hehehe, I actually bought a PS2 after Christmas for consolation of not getting a Wii. I loves mah PS2, with it's Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy and DDR goodness.
