Warnings: Spoilers for "In Search of Tweetums"; rated PG, because of certain somewhat naughty thoughts from a certain somewhat naughty bunny, and very mild swearing.

I do not own Loonatics. Warner Brothers does. Steal this, and I'll burn down your villiage and make slaves of your children.

Notes: I wrote this almost immediately after I watched "In Search of Tweetums" on dailymotion.com courtesy of Martiangirl. (Thanks a lot, by the way!) Even if folks on the boards seem to be pretty disappointed with the ep, I actually liked it. If I didn't like it, why would I so quickly write ficlits afterwards? It's about three pages long, and contains 1,190 words. I can only hope that at least some of those words will inspire emotion within the reader. If not, well, try not to puke all over your keyboard or moniter. I am a High School student, and therefore poor, so I won't be able to pay for it. After all, sucky writing only goes away with practice and constructive critsism. So without further ado:

EDIT: Small typos here and there that stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

Neverending Bliss

___________________________________________________________

Ace was in Heaven.

That was the only thing that sounded like a reasonable explanation right now. Because he was at such perfect ease. Why did every vicious cloud of doubt worry, and pain just evaporate into the air?His body felt limp like a noodle, and never more comfy, because someone was also holding him in her arms.

He knew it was a woman. His senses told him so, at least. There was a faint, but distinct smell of flowers near him, like perfume.Or maybe more like the smell of a woman who doesn't need perfume.Wherever it came from, it made him feel light-headed, like his body would just float into the air carelessly. And she was holding him close to her own body, warm and firm. What was it about simple touching that could be so stimulating?Or maybe it was simply this woman who was touching him, and making him feel like his heart was going to jump through his rib cage?

Maybe an angel was holding him, as a greeting for his first few moments in the afterlife. He never figured he could still feel pain of any sort in Heaven, but who could know anyway? It's not like he had been dead before. His whole body tingled with pricks and pains, his muscles feeling the abuse of the very hard and very odd day.He felt he couldn't even muster the strength to hold up his arm.Even his eyelids were sore, and he was unable to open them to look into the face of the sweet angel cradling him.But he was smiling all the same.Wide, and totally assured. He must have looked dopey and a little pathetic, all beaten down and motionless, and still smiling. He smiled at his friends before things went dark because he wanted to tell them everything was all right. Now he was smiling because in spite of how heavy and tired he was, it felt good to be held for once.Just to be given the simple comfort of close bodily contact.

He wondered offhand what it would be like to quickly grab her by the waist, taking her completely by surprise. If he kissed her, would her lips be meek and submissive or just as responsive to his passion? Finally, would it be poor conduct or an a very pleasant and honest reply?Questions, questions, questions.Whatever the High and Mighty deity up here was called, he had a really strange sense of humor.Preaching chastity, and then one of his messengers letting him enjoy the sensation of her against him.Maybe more like a cruel, wicked sense of humor.

Suddenly, he felt something a little damp and very hot against his cheek. It was her face, probably covered in tears. He could hear chocked sobs. The dampness got greater, and he realized consciously for the first time she was crying. She had begun to cry, and she was pressing her face against his.Her whole body trembled and shook like the last leaf on a dying tree blowing away in the wind. She rubbed her forehead to his, and he was aware of soft locks of hair falling over his eyes. And he got an even stronger breath of that scent of hers.He sighed gently, and with a low groan, cracked his eyes open.

All he could see was some type of yellow. No, more like blonde hair.He licked his lips with his dusty, dry tongue. The woman's voice suddenly became for distinct. His heart began to burn hot and hard when he recognized who the woman was. When he did, his heart sank to the depths of the inside of his chest, and yet still pounded furiously like a drum.

"Hey Lex...you okay there?"

He was flat on his back, unable to move, and his voice was no higher than a croak. She pulled away from him, and he got to look at her through practically squinted eyes. She looked like Hell, with her hair and face covered with grim, dust and tears, and more beautiful than he had ever seen her before. Her eyes were deep shining pools of flickering green and blue, staring right at him with disbelief and perhaps terror.

Grasping his shoulders tightly, she whispered "You stupid, stupid jerk..." through her teeth harshly, then encircled her arms around his waist and sobbed into his chest. He wanted to do something like pat her back or stroke her hair to calm her down, but he was still basically immobilized. He always hated that feeling. The weapon he relied on most was his own body, and when he was unable to even twitch it, he always got jittery. He didn't even give a damn about Lexi calling him a stupid jerk; all he wanted right now was for her to stop crying. After all, wasn't he obviously still alive and well? What was the big deal? Hearing her made something in his chest coil tighter and tighter painfully, and he feared if it went on for much longer, it would break.

He exhaled sharply, and muttered "hey" to her again a few times to get her attention. It wasn't working. She wasn't listening to her. Finally, he worked up the strength to sit up, and place his hand on her shoulder. With her weight against him and his fatigue, it wasn't an easy task.He kneaded her shoulders firmly, alternating every now and then, whispering to her.

"It's okay Lex.Just a few scratches here n' there.Nothin' to get worried about.Come on, it's okay; really.Come on."

She took in a few deep breaths, and looked at him again. Her lips wobbled uncontrollably, and she was straining to keep herself from 'freaking out' again. She blinked, and smiled a very forced smile that looked like a grimace of anger and sorrow.

"Don't you remember what I said about scaring us like that?"

He shrugged, somewhat wincing, but his smile was like a bright candle in a dark cave.

"It musta slipped my mind or somethin'." He pointed to his temples. "Not a details guy, remember?"

She made a sound that was like a cross between laughter and coughing as he closed his eyes again.Someone else suddenly held his wrist, feeling his veins. A voice that was like gravel gently crackling under moving feet asked "Is there a medical center of any sort nearby that we can take him?"

A child's voice, very small, and very high answered him."Sure Tech, in my pawace. We often use it to tweat serwiously sick or injured civiwians, but it'll work just fine for him."

Ace could leap out for joy.I'm alive.I'm really alive.I'm a-freakin'-live.

He realized with a certain amount of gravity that the whole ordeal was over.It was another day's work done, even if it was especially hard.It doesn't matter, he thought as he grasped Lexi's hand when she was helping Tech get Ace on his feet. There would still be life after this, and what life it was going to be.

______________________________________________________________

It would be difficult to articulate just how much fun this was to write. Ace and Lexi's dialogue just sort of came to me after I had watched the season finale. I had been reading other members' opinions on what could be changed in the ep to make it better, and this was sort of my idea. Don't get me wrong, though; the scene where the team finds Ace after he banishes Deuce is rather powerful by itself. Ace, hanging on to the hilt of his sword, looking smaller than he usually does while completely beat up, and exhausted, smiling brightly and proudly when he spots his friends. That image is now ingrained permenantly into my brain. All it needed was to be properly expaned upon. Not neccesarily the way did it, but at least it was fun for me. Now to see if hours from now, I'll regret posting this.

with love, Anna.

Amazing, truely amazing work Anna!

I also liked Search for Tweetums and, though it could've been a teeny bit better, this is the most amzing, detailed story about when they find Ace after his fight with Deuce.

That scene was so powerful to me. It was like, OMG, he's weakened, he's probably hurting all over, he's hanging on to his sword with the little strength he has left, but, he still gives that proud, brightening smile when he glimpses his friends before he collapses.

Even though this is the first story about Search for Tweetums that I've read so far, I'm sure that it'll stay one of my favourites. Again, an amazing, detailed story. Good job!

That was a beautiful ficlet Anna! The imagery you conjured up for how Ace was perceiving his contact with Lexi and briefly Tech was so dream-like and we could really see how exhausted and delusional Ace was for a short while.

Oh my gosh, this was beautiful. It's sparked the AcexLexi in me, reminding me why I love it. I love how you wrote this, making Ace defeated like that. I wish they'd continued that scene in "In Search if Tweetums" with a real romance moment unlike the one in "Acmegeddon 2."

Aw, I don't know how to thank you guys!  That's very sweet!

That's good to hear, Black Oracle.  That's kind of what happens when you're real tired and you pass out.  Everything seems unreal, and you're not really sure what is really happening around you.  And I think at the time, Ace honestly thought he was dead for a bit.  It was so much fun to write for delusional!Ace, imagining what he might make of what's going on.

Again, thanks everyone!  I loved writing it!
