Wakefullness [open to all]

An earthquake, a small one, was recorded in the Geology department of Acmetropolis. Seismic readings indicated it opened up a small area underground in the area of a rather old, abandoned part of the sprawling city. It was mostly a slum anymore, but the buildings there were some of the oldest in the metropolis. It also housed one of the larger scrap yards of the city. It would be doubtless that someone would go to investegate soon enough.

Unbeknownst to anyone, this opening was already occupied by one man. A man encased in rapidly melting cryogenic ice. It evaporated almost as fast as it melted, leaving him, and everything else in what once was his appartment, in tact. Slowly, the man raised woke, blinking groggily into consciousness. He stood very slowly, his joints having not been used in centuries. In this age, his attire would belong in a museum. A brown vest with brass buttons over a white dress shirt, as well as some brown dress trousers. Black, shined leather shoes upon his feet, and a black leather belt with a brass clasp around his waist. He looked around his room, parts collapsed here and there, but nothing really aged. "What happened? I saw, exactly how long have I been under?" He said to no one in particular. He ran a hand through his black hair, still soaked in old fashioned hair tonic to help keep it in place, making sure that it remained parted to the right. "I am....hungry." A likely reaction to someone in his position.

He walked to his pantry, rummaging through the shelves to take out some perfectly preserved cheese and bread, as well as some salami. He made himself a quick lunch. In case you were wondering, it tasted exactly the same as the day it was frozen. After this, he sat down to smoke his pipe, and ponder what had happened. "I say...it could be days, or thousands of years since I was last awake.....I can not imagine what I should prepare for." Smoke rolling over his moustace as he spoke. His pipe was made of lacquered redwood, and did not really burn when the tobacco was lit. "Suppose this world is hostile....well, hopefully, they still respond to the old twins." He looked over to a cabinet filled with his firearms, all of which were now outdated. He was a bit of a collector. The twins he spoke of were two fourty four calibre revolvers that were the pride of his collection. "Well, no sense rushing out yet...may as well rest up a bit, and gather my thoughts."

And so he would. Iit was just a matter of whether anyone else came to him first.

(OOC: I'm new to this so expect some errors in grammar and/or writing. For my character, Arctik Wolf's profile see here: http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=84895&p=3&topicID=9781916 )

The quake was certainly an unexpected, but oddly welcome, occurrence. Arctik had been making his usual rounds via jetpack (often going over the least active areas of the city for thoroughness, as well as for some peace and quiet) when the ground below him suddenly rumbled, setting off nearly every built-in warning alarm in his suit. As soon as it was safe to land he quickly began to make his way towards the center of the disturbance.

As the wolf slid on a self-made ice trail to pick up speed, he looked over his shoulder and what he saw nearly made him lose his balance. A large hole in the ground had been created by the quake, and stranger still was the structure that could be seen below it. To Arctik's knowledge such buildings hadn't been around for centuries, at least. Regardless of the oddity and its possible archaeological ventures, Arktic's first priority was to see whether anyone had fallen into the hole and if so help them get to safety as quick as possible.

Thus he quickly changed the trail's direction and headed towards the crater. Just stopping short of the edge, he peered into the depths, his steel-blue eyes searching for any resemblance of life in the darkness. "Hello?!" Arctik called into the hole. "Is anyone down there?!"

The basement was the only part left, only recognizable by the thin layer of carpet. This was, of course, rather out of place in the eart. That, and stairs leading all the way to the surface, that wound back into a maze of buildings. The stairs led to a hallway, which was mostly collapsed. The only doorway was right across from them, and led into Doc's room.

The doctor looked up, hearing someone calling. He calmly snuffed his pipe, setting it down. He thought for a moment. "I am not sure what is calling for me. Perhaps preparedness is the best course of action."

He walked over to his gun collection, taking out a small case that held the twins. He opened the case up. The rather rugged revolvers were housed in a pair of leather holsters, which he put to his belt. He also attached a pack to his side, putting in his pipe, a bag of tobacco, matches, and a number of extra cartridges. His wallet was already in his pocket. He then decided it best to go out to the surface, to see what was looking for him.

To understand what happened next, one would have to see it from the doctor's point of view. He was from the year 1915, it was the last year he knew. Suddenly, he emerged to a foreign sky, a wolf hovering above, covered in sinister looking metal, to him anyway. The doctor had never even seen a moving picture, let along a cartoon. The moving pictures were not widespread in his time. His reaction would have been likely for anyone in his situation.

"Demons!" He drew both of his pistols in a blink, and fired both barrels at Arctik. The loud bang and scent of gunpowder would be unmistakably odd to the wolf. He then made a break for the buildings, ducking into an alley, and out of the wolf's view. His heart was pounding, his first reaction to find somewhere to hide. But, everything was so alien to him. He slid into the nearest building, a rather run down corner store. The clerk was reading the latest news on a monitor, having no notice of the oddly dressed man as he took refuge behind some shelves. Teh person who did catch his attention, however, was the next person to come in. Another human, this one decked out in a black jumpsuit, holding a large energy pistol. He pushed it to the clerk's face, who immediately stopped what he had been doing before. The punkish robber grinned.

"Hand over all the cash, or I'll atomize your head." Well, at least that would give some more attention to the doctor's position.

(OOC: Hi guys, I hope this is still active... Character profile at http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=84895&p=3&topicID=9781916 )

Rebecca cringed at the stick-up situation. Just her luck to be in these events. As if waking up with a tail and fur wasn't bad enough... She shouldered her backpack and softly edged towards the door, intent on running away. Unfortunately for that plan, her sense of justice kicked in and demanded her to try and do something about the situation. She changed her direction and instead of the door, she moved to a point where she could see the robber but the robber couldn't see her too well.

She wasn't sure what she should be doing after that, jumping the crook from behind would put the clerk in danger. But she couldn't just let the man walk away with the money! In her contemplation, she hadn't realized that her tail had been swishing from side to side and knocked something off the shelf, making it land with a loud sound, something like a mix between a clatter and a crunch. Only one thought flitted through her head at the speed of light:

'Sonuva-!'
