I may be an Agnostic, but if anything has ever convinced me a loving God of some kind does watch over us all, this story is it.
I know some of you may say it was merely circumstance that the child lived, but think about all the times people have escaped death seemingly by a miracle. I can`t help but wonder if perhaps the powers above and beyond, whoever or whatever they may be, act out their will through the very laws of physics themselves.
In the midst of all the war, hatred and immoral lack of restraint in this world, there are times when my faith in humanity has faltered. But, moments like these where mercy has seemingly been granted by the cosmos itself remind me that humanity has hope, and that there must be something that watches over us.
Let this story remind us that although sometimes life might seem unbearably cruel and unfair, that things could always be worse. We must never lose hope and always count our blessings, for many of us are blessed indeed, and it`s only when we realize that, that we can truly appreciate them.
You make alot of good points crossfire, but some people are just extremely fotunate, like this baby. If theres really a loving deity watching over us with the power to make interventions like this, dont you think he/she/it would be doing alot of other things, if it saved this one single baby?
Some people are just struck by great fortune, others great unfortune (Birth defects, mental illnesses, cancer, etc etc) Thats just how the dice get thrown. But I dont think the amount of fortune, prosperity, and joy comes close to out-weighing the amount of pain, poverty, and unhappieness in the world.
I will agree with techfan here... The story is touching and it's good of course that the baby was saved, but there are billions of people suffering out there... -grrrrrrrrr not again the emotional thing! Go away, go away!-
