Chapter 1: Awakening

The alarm clock next to Exile's bed began making the ever annoying sound that nobody wants to hear while they sleep. He planted his fist on the sleep button and rolled over onto his back. He stared up at the ceiling with a tired face, his mind drifting away into both space and thought. His eyes were half-open, due to the fact that it was only 7AM. He sighed a sad breath and stood up from his bed, his fur ruffled.

"Why? Why didn't I save her...?" he thought to himself before exiting his bedroom and going to the bathroom for a shower.

Everyone else was at the table eating their breakfast. One of them spoke up.

"Shouldn't Exile be up yet? He always wakes up before his alarm clock goes off," Colleen said to the rest of the crew.

"I would just let him sleep. He needs some time alo--" before Hunter could finish, they heard the shower turn on.

When Exile stepped in, he let himself soak. His muscular body dripping water into the drain. Right now, he didn't know how he felt. Sad? Angry? He didn't know which one to pick. He sat down on his rump in the shower and sighed once more, laying his head back against the tile wall.

"Maria... Why did you take that laser for me? I could have survived... At least I hope so..." he thought.

"Mother Russia..." he said to himself, standing back up in the shower.

He came out of the bathroom, walking in a bath towel back to his room. Putting some normal clothes on, he went out into the living room, planting himself on the couch and flipping on the big TV. He really didn't want to talk to anyone, not even a "Hello" or a "Good morning".

Hunter got up from the table and tried to make Exile happy. He leaped onto the couch and smiled at him.

“Heya, Exile,” Hunter said, hoping for a positive reply.

“Hi,” Exile simply said back, not bothering to even glance at him and flipping that channels.

“Eh, aren’t ya gonna have somethin’ to eat? Shag wipped up some good stuff,” he said.

“Uh-uh,” Exile shook his head, still not looking at him.

Hunter’s smile faded into a frown and he turned his head to the TV.

“Sorry, Exile…”
 Hunter thought.

(This is my first Fan-Fiction ever. This is chapter 1 of a story I like to call: Ave, Maria.

Exile's girlfriend was named Maria. She perished on a mission she tagged along on.)

Abby: Do you think it's possible to die from boredom?

Chen: I don't think so.

Abby: What if your mind wandered off in a daydream and you forgot to eat or drink for days?

Chen: Then you'd die of starvation and dehydration.

Abby: Caused by boredom.
