What's acceptable for the controversy section? Lately there have been a lot of topics such as rape, prostitution, and such. Then there are those people who think that this site shouldn't have topics such as that due to the possible young age of some people using this site. So where do you stand?

It is the controversy area after all. The boxing ring of morals, ethnics, and beliefs.

Theres nothing I think that should be hidden from young people. It would be like hiding reality from them. The prostitution thread was just the actuel discussion of if it's right or wrong to legalize it. It's serious discussion about touchy things, that can have a negative impact on anybody.

There's a bigger issue here, though. Whether or not you think it's right that nothing should be hidden from kids, you still have to remember that this is a forum for kids. If, say, some kid starts talking about something that they found on this site to their parents, and their parents really didn't want them exposed to such subject manner so soon, that could mean big trouble for this site. In fact, I have seen a forum get shut down for this exact reason.

So for the sake of this site's existence, there should be a limit to what's on here.

We took it from two different angles, but your right. For the sake of the sites exsistance, we should keep a limit on.

But, then again. This website is soaked with insane randomness and sexually suggestive jokes. That could make the same kinds of problems for the website, but to get rid of that would kill LUO. I mean, LUO without the randomness and sexually suggestive jokes?

It would become like a really real kid's website, and the older members would probably leave, including me.

It's the minority of our members that are under 12, and that amount is pretty much matched by the number of people over 18. So really it's more of a teen website, anyway.

This website doesn't have that much sexuality relative to, well, pretty much every other forum I go too.

Maybe the Controversy boards should be password-protected, for those of faint heart. But, come on, it's the controversy section, of course you're going to find controversial topics there. I still can't believe all the fighting that happened in the prostitution thread, what with Jetsir threatening to leave, and kari bunny being...um...I forgot.

But, yeah, password and such.

I was just about to suggest that. =P

It would probably be for the best for the Controversy boards to have a password. Then before receiving the password, one could be warned that they should be ready to face what's within and that if they happen to be easily offended, they should not participate in the debates. -shrug-

But that would require a massive change in the forum......
And that would require Cali_Bunny.....
Yeah......

It may be rash of me to say so but I think when/if she comes back her first course of action should be granting someone else administrative powers at least in addition to herself in case she leaves for months again.

That would be a good idea.
Every forum I know of has a minimum of two admins regardless of its size, simply because you can never know when life gets in your way.

I guess that Cali just didn't expect this place would get so much activity. ^^

Months? It feels like years since she's been gone. D: Has it really only been months?

Its been since October which I guess would constitute months rather than years.

That is like saying you talked to someone on the phone yesterday when all they really did was call you and hung up as soon as you answered. It doesn't COUNT

I find that to be an incompatible metaphor.

Besides that, what you decide to count and what I decide to count is subjective. I merely stated she actuelly visited the site.

Analogy.

Why do you make an argument over EVERYTHING.

It depends on one's interpretation of the internet.

You interpret Cali's access without posting as a having a phone conversation with someone that just hangs up. I interpret like someone entering a room, without saying anything, but still making themselves physically present. That counts to me.

OY. SHUT UP.

Thank you.

This is the Controversy board, anyone is technically allowed to argue over whatever he/she wants, but we don't need to argue about what counts and what doesn't count. Whether you count the times Cali posted or the last login date is completely off topic.

NOW IF YOU PLEASE, LET'S TALK ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO PASSWORD-LOCK THE BOARDS OR NOT.

I say no because there's a very small percentage of actual debatable topics here anyway, and the password locks as such would probably be more of a hassle than anything. The marginal benefit does not exceed the marginal cost.

Also it's pretty much all useless banter until Cali gets back.
