Inspiration comes from anywhere. Watch the TV, listen to music, keep a dream diary, if you see something that you like, take a note book with you and make a note of it. Watch LU episodes to see if you can find a plot hole that WB couldn't be bothered to fill that maybe you could try to make sense of it. Inspiration is all around us, and sometimes stories can be inspired by very strange things.
Don't be afraid to use other people's OCs (make sure you ask them though!). You could make up a character and write a story about him/her and the 'Tics.
