will be a 3rd season. –sighs-

When she was a kid

When she was 5, her mom used to carry her on to her lap while she sat on their old rickety rocking chair. She’ll brush her youngest daughters’ blonde hair and tell her stories.

Stories of love, joy and hope; stories that would make her eyes widened and her nose to twitch. She never really understood all the stories, heck she was 5 that time!

But she still loves hearing them while the snow fall’s in front of them. In constant rhythm and everlasting to her 5 year old mind.

When she turned 8, her older brother Max will bring her out to the countryside to play with her other siblings. She’ll build a snowman with her sister’ and have a snowball fight with her brothers in the knee deep snow.

At night, cuddled up in her the bed she shared with her elder sister Vanessa; she used to think that their snowman will be lonely out there all alone. She’ll creep out of the door in her jacket and thick woolen gloves and will quickly make her way to the snowman.

**************

“Mr. Snowman, are you lonely here?” she asked when she was close enough.

The snowman didn’t say anything.

“You don’t have to be shy, I understand how you feel, I always feel left out when my family left to play last time,” Lexi sighed and dropped to the snow laden ground.

**************

The night would seem to pass slowly as she sat there to keep the snowman company, talking bout her family and friends. She would stay there for some time till Max came out to look for her and practically dragged her back home.

Of two things that she was sure of when she woke up on Christmas morning and saw the pile of presents under the tree; she had the best family in the world and the atmosphere was certainly of a wonderland.

A winter wonderland, she sighed happily looking outside the window where Max and Vanessa were building another snowman right beside the other one.

Here I am again, with this chapter I would like to introduce my OC, Sapphire, whose Lexi's best friend....

Disclaimer : Do I have to say this?

Growing up – teenage years

18 years old

“Lexiiii, com’on,” Sapphire nearly begged the blonde bunny sitting on the table, books sprawled around her.

“Saph, I told you, I have a term paper to sit to right after Christmas,” Lexi tried to reason with her blue-eyed friend.

“But Lex, it’s the first snow of the season, and your paper is still 2 WEEKS away!” Sapphire cried walking forward so that she stood right in front of her, throwing a longing glance at the window.

Lexi finally looked up at her, “Saph, pleaseeee.”

“Lexi Marie Bunny, I demand you to lift up your arse right now and march outside,” Sapphire smirked.

By now Lexi knew that there was no stopping Sapphire. They had been room mates since they were 12 and were firmed friends, and she knew that there was no coaxing Sapphire out of a plan once she had set her mind.

Seeing the look on Lexi’s face, Sapphire’s grin (if possible) grew wider, revealing her dimple in her right cheek. Without a word, she crossed the room and flitted through the assortment of clothes and pulled out a navy blue jacket with a matching pair of gloves.

Throwing it to Lexi, she said, “I’m giving you 5 minutes, if you’re not out yet, I’m coming in and dragging you out no matter what you’re wearing.”

“There’s no way I’m getting out of this huh?” Lexi sighed, pulling a face of mock hurt.

“You bet it sistah!” Sapphire sang as she ran outside, leaving a smiling bunny behind her.

     ************

“You know Lex, you don’t have to study your brains out like that,” Sapphire said, twirling a strand of her jet-black hair.

“Saph, I’m not studying that hard,” Lexi tried to argue, catching a snowflake on her sleeve in the process.

“Yeah, you’re not,” Sapphire rolled her eyes.

“Well, prove it.”

Both of them were now underneath an ancient willow tree that towered above them.

“Lex, you were mumbling, I repeat, mumbling in you sleep last night,” Sapphire threw her hands in the air dramatically. Her cheeks were a rosy red from the cold and somehow made her looked more attractive.

“Saph, its just, well I don’t know, this paper is really important and I don’t wanna flunk it,” Lexi sighed.

“Girl, there are more important things in life than exams,” Sapphire rubbed her palms together.

The two friends sat together in silence examining their surroundings. It was a typical snowy day; students were lounging round the yard in their own cliques and basically having a fun time.

Sapphire suddenly stood up, “Lex, I’m gonna get some hot chocolate from the stand, want one?” she quirked an eye-brow.

“That’ll be nice Saph,” Lexi fished into her pocket for some coins but was cut off by Sapphire saying, “I’m paying.”

Lexi had already seen the stubborn glint in her eyes to have enough common sense to not argue with her.

********

The 3 boys walked out of the school dorm, hands tucked deep in their pockets. The tallest of the boys’ was looking round the yard and broke into a mischievous smirk when he saw the lone bunny laying under the willow tree.

He nudged the boy beside him and pointed to their new target. The trio made their way to the bunny and leaned over her.

“Hey, bunny, eaten any good carrots lately?” the boy jeered.

“I don’t know Cory, maybe her species is still incapable of speech,” his friend replied off-handedly.

Lexi shot up grumpily from her comfortable position and shot a glare at Cory. “Get lost Jones,” she said calmly.

“What, lost of words bunny?” Cory jeered.

“Nah, I’m just worried that your single celled brain can’t handle a word more than three syllables,” Lexi snapped back, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

“Why you little…” Cory’s accomplice muttered taking a step closer to Lexi, his fingers hovering dangerously near her cheeks. Lexi stood her ground and simply refused to loose the glaring contest in the making. It was then when a cry echoed through the yard.

“Austin, get away from her if you want to feel your man bits tomorrow,” Sapphire shouted.

She was standing a good 20 feet away and yet her voice seems to come from right beside their ears. Her hair was thrown wildly around her shoulders and her face seemed flushed (whether it was of anger or cold, Lexi could not be sure).

“Alright there Sapphire?” Cory asked, but this time his tone was different, deeper, more mature.

“Jones, why do you have to pick on Lexi, she didn’t do anything to you,” she stated the obvious.

“Owh, com’on Saph, I’ll stop if you’ll go out with me,” he said quickly. “Go out with me and I’ll swear I won’t bother you’re little bunny pal here again,” he glanced at Lexi, “or anyone else in that matter.”

Sapphire swore loudly, something she’ll usually never do in public.

Cory made impatient clicking noises with his tongue, “tsk, tsk, Star. I didn’t think that such a lovely young lady such as you could use such language,” he smirked.

“For your information, Cory whatever-your-middle-name-is-and-I-don’t-care Jones,” she stepped forward, poking him on his chest, “I don’t give a damn on what you think, feel or do,” she took a deep breath. It seeme as if she had already thought of this speech for some time.

“I don’t care if you start proclaiming your ‘undying’ love for me right now, (Lexi shuddered, remembering the scene in the hall 2 weeks ago), you know why, its just a game for you and I’m just a prize that you’ll boast around saying that you claim,” that certainly wiped the smirk of his face.

“But Saph…” he said slowly.

“No, don’t ‘Saph’ me,” she interrupted, the tears she had bravely fought daring to slip down her cheeks.

“I-I just, just wanted,” he stammered, but the look on Sapphire’s face made him stop, no, he never meant to hurt her like that.

He clenched his fist, “I’m sorry,” he whispered, and somehow this time everyone knew that he meant it.

*************

Lexi sighed, she was looking from Cory and his posse of friends on the other side of the yard to Sapphire who was still muttering a string of violent curses. Once in a while she’ll realized that Cory was staring at her friend but then he’ll look away when he realized that Lexi caught him staring.

Lexi knew what was happening, it was a known fact that Cory Jones fancied the pants of her best mate. He would take any opportunity thrown at him to ask her out. Throughout the 5 years knowing him, Lexi recalled him asking nicely, begging, pleading and occasionally making a fool of himself in front of her. She knew why he pulled pranks and bullied her friends, he was trying to get her attention, but he ended up getting the wrong type of attention from her feisty friend.

“Saph, you alright?” she asked quietly.

Sapphire looked up from the ground and glanced at Lexi, she frowned slightly and said, “Lex, I just don’t know anymore.”

“Saph, I think he really means it when he said he likes you,” she said softly.

That was the one thing Sapphire had never understood about Lexi, no matter how annoying (or in Cory’s case, obnoxious) someone could be, she could always take the time to see the good in people. It’s like she could look into someone’s soul when they meet her emerald eyes.

“Saph, com’on, we’d better go back inside,” Lexi gently prodded her shoulder realizing that the wind had picked up.

Her friend was silent as she picked herself up from the grown and straightened up. Both of them walked quietly over to their dorm and just before they turned a corner, Lexi looked up again, just in time to meet Cory’s eyes following them.

She sighed heavily; this was gonna be a long week to Christmas.
