The Fan Art of Lyra, yo!

Sorry for the corny title... XD


Hi there! I'm kinda new to the forum, so... You're probably wondering "Who is this gal?" Well... Anyways, besides being a Loonatics fan, I also draw fanart! And... I wanted to show the work I've done so far to real fans. ;) One of my pictures is already in the main site's fanart gallery, in which I'm registered as Lyra Vulpictor, which is my usual Internet name (and the name of my Sonic fancharacter, but let's not get into that XD).


I wanted the pictures to be viewable in the topic itself, but sadly DeviantArt has a tendency to bite people's heads off if they direct link to a picture... :( Anyways, here we go:

I'm planning on drawing the others too, but I'm having a slight problem with Slam... I can't draw bulky characters that well. But I'll try doing it with a reference picture... Yes, these were made with no reference pic. When I'm comfortable drawing them all, I think I'll move on and make mini comics... But first I gotta draw Slam and Rev!

Was Sonic the Hedgehog, by chance, an inspiration for the art style? I`m not saying it`s bad, I`m just saying the style reminds me of the Blue Blur and his supporting cast.

Thank you all so much! ^^ It's great to see people like my style... Makes me feel all fuzzy inside.


Yeah, you asked right, Shade... Where's the anatomy... *Matrix style voice* There is no anatomy. *Lyra gets clobbered* Ahem... XD I don't really use anatomy to draw. When I do, it always comes out forced and too mechanical. Not to mention I can't get the effects I want... I do use guide lines, sometimes.


As for the Sonic question... I've been doing Sonic fanart for 3 years now. So it's more than likely that some traits from that style stayed with me... ^^; Is it that noticeable? *embarassed*

Yeah, I`d say so. Well, looks like I`m good at nailing similarities between art styles. I draw Sonic chars occasionally myself, although I`m still practicing, of course.

Sorry for the pevious post, (Tries to resist hugging the pics again) I really like your art they are kind of simular to the sonic art but not simular (WTH!? ) Anyway, great job, hope to see Slam and Rev up there!

Nice character artwork Lyra! They're all so cute and adorable! Yes like Crossfire said, your art style reminds me of how they do Sonic X characters. Can i ask how you colour in your artwork? I always wanted to learn how to colour pictures in on a computer. Keep up the good art!

When will you draw Slam and Rev? I'm kind of curious to seeing what they look like; especially, Rev. When I clicked on the one for Ace; it wasn't there. But, all of them look really good; how did you do this?
