5' 1''? Maybe? I think I grew half an inch...I haven't measured myself in months... I is teh tiniest of the Tech Crew. Ron says when I get into college, if I do theater stuff, they might let me fly!
So... it's just randomly adding 9000 anywhere you can?
Changing the subject.. Was anyone else absolutely SHOCKED when Duck used the word "insidious" in 'Going Undergound'?
I was!
I watched it agian the other day, and I was all, "Ok, here's the big face-off with Dr. Dare... Dum dee dum dum..." and then Duck was all, "And now we're going to stop your insidious plan stone cold." then I was like, "*gasp* AND *gasp* AGAIN!". It reall shocked me (especially since I only JUST picked up on it).
I mean... WB portrayed him as beeing somewhat... well... to be blunt, stupid... And yet they made him use a big word like that??
It was kinda like 'Cape Duck'... "That statement is rather ironic and profound if you ask me..." It sounds too smart...
I mean, in comparison with other quotes like, "You don't have to spell it for me, I know what an Emp is." "Other than being unpronouncabible." "I shall track down those crimiminals," "That's Tech... T, E... Keh." "We're on duty 25/8, 9 days a week, 55 weeks a year."
And my favourite...
Athena: And you don't look like you have oppsoable thumbs. Duck: *goes to say something* Wah-ha- I don't get it...
I mean, they make him sound dumb all the time... then they make him say something smart... IT'S INCONSISTENT!!
Or maybe he's secretly smart and tries to hide it behind stupidity so as to avoid being labelled a geek... ;3

That will be funny... Duck is a geek...
Like english is not my primary language, I didn't know that until you say it... but after I make my best friend see all the chapters of the first season (I was in USA two weeks ago and I buy it because it only can be sold in USA and Canada Y.Y) and make her (and her siblings) addict of the show, she told me that Duck way to speak is intelligent...
After all, he is the one who do the best and the funniest quotes in the serie... and now that I saw again the chapters, I see he is always saying mean things about the genius (in other words, Tech)...
Is like he doesn't like the geeks or in reality HE is a geek and doesn't want people know it.
Who knows... maybe his desire to be a hero did that he never get a good gob... including he is the first in his class...
And when he said : "We're on duty 25/8, 9 days a week, 55 weeks a year" maybe is a sacarsm... or in Acmetropolis don't use the same system of 24 hours day, 7 days week, etc...
Duck: I KNOW WHAT'LL HELP THIS SITUATION! *pulls out duct tape* Ace: Eh, Duck... We're outta cereal... Lexi: Yeah, how's some tape gonna help? Duck: It's DUCT tape, and you'd be surprised how tastey this stuff can be... Lexi & Ace: O_o
LOLZ! First thing that popped into my head. Next to the image of Duck walking around with a duct tape backpack of course... XD
Duck: Oh yeah, I am so totally stylin. ^__^ *pleased with himself*
XDDD
And yes Tyranee, Duck does sound pretty smart half the time... He uses a lot of big words... "Which is the ancestral homeland of geeks, dweebs and braniac nerds" could've just been "Which is the home of geeks, dweebs etc."
But that 25/8 thing was kinda fo' realz, because afterwards Lexi goes, "And real superheroes obviously don't spend much time in school either." and Duck had this little pause before what she said clicked inside his head and he goes, "Hey!" all offended like...

Another deep dark secret has been discovered! He didn't really go to school that much! But why he didn't is the question. We must investigate!
*Puts on a Sherlock Holmes costume and blows bubbles through a smoking pipe while zooming a magnifying glass in front of my eyes.*
Hi! Thought I'd do some snooping for some info on Duck from the people who know him best, since I'm soon doing a fic surrounding him after I'm finished with GA.
Everyone: *GASP* AND *GASP* AGAIN!
What? Just cause I'm doing a fic and it's not about Tech is no reason to freak out.
Everyone: Yes, it is. *faints*
Anyway, I can't say much, cause I'm still learning about Duck... snooping around, ya know.... *hides in shadows*

We don't really know. But even if the foster parents supported him as much as they could, he still ended up being a pool boy for that mean old life guard.
I personally believe that he dropped out of school because, a) he hardly ever attended high school and, b) due to his low grades, he wasn't allowed into any of the colleges his father wanted him to enroll into. This brought up conflict between him and his father so he left, wanting and thus claiming independance. So he just gave up on schooling completely and went around trying to support himself (and maybe a gf? a pregger gf. c[X ) with different jobs.
Perhaps his father died sometime during the second season *COUGHitcamefromouterspaceCOUGHthatwouldexplainhisb-tchinessinthateppieCOUGH* and he is now trying to patch things up with his mother before he moves to planet Blanc...
What? Aren't I allowed to have whacked up theories? You should be glad I didn't mention the fancharacter daughter I made for him. X9

Ok, I'm back again, because I've just found an interesting piece of text through my Introduction to Sociology and Psychology class. 8D
Please bear with me and read this piece carefully, as it details the impact that institutions (orphanages and the like) have on children. It’s interesting…
“The socialisation of children who are raised in orphanages and similar institutions differs in one important respect from that of children who are raised in families. Institutionalised children rarely have the chance to develop close emotional ties with specific adults, for although the children may interact with a large number of staff members, the attendants simply do not have the time to devote much personal attention to any one child. The standard of nutrition and other physical care in institutions is sometimes good and comparable to that in private homes, but relationships between child and adult are usually minimal.
“In 1945, the psychologist René Spitz published an influential article on the effects that these conditions have on children’s personalities. Spitz compared some infants who were being raised by their own mothers with infants of the same age who had been placed in the care of an orphanage. The infants living with their mothers had plenty of opportunity for close social interaction, but those in the institution received only routine care at mealtimes and when their clothing or bedding was changed. Spitz found that the infants in the orphanage were physically, socially and emotionally retarded compared with the other infants – a difference that increased steadily as the children grew older.
“Spitz’s report was followed by a large number of studies on the effects of institutionalisation on infants and children, most of which have arrived at similar conclusions. William Goldfarb (1945), for example, compared forty children who had been placed in foster homes soon after birth with forty children who had spent the first two years of life in institutions before being transferred to foster homes. He found that the institutionalised children suffered a number of personality defects that persisted even after they had left the institutions. They had lower IQ scores, seemed more aggressive and distractible, showed less initiative, and were more emotionally cold. Many other studies have reported similar depressing effects on physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development, and have confirmed that such disabilities suffered in early childhood tend to persist or even worsen in later years (Bowblby, 1969, 1988; Rutter, 1974).”
Could we therefore not assume that Duck’s nastiness towards people, close to him or in general, his certain points of stupidity and his inability to ‘care’ at times are all personality defects brought on by his time spent at the orphanage? Because he never received the parental care that the other Loonatics had?
It could also explain why Pinkster became so evil at such a young age.
It might even go so far as to explain why Tech’s sometimes emotionally cold. Not saying that his childhood isolation to adults was as severe as Duck’s, but perhaps he wasn’t given much attention at a young age from his parents?
Hmmm… Interesting indeed…
…
You’re all snoring now, aren’t you? T_T

Nah, and that's actually probably a legitimate assessment. I mean, they did very well go out of the way to make it known that Duck was in an orphanage as a child. The orphanage could very well be the source for, as you say, his personality defects.
It's really interesting, actually. Duck probably has more depth than Daffy.

One I saw an special of Looney Toons and there show that Daffy was in a orphanage... but in Duck Dodgers we can see him he has parents (and eat the only meat that has poor people)...
Maybe is a lack of love... and look the orphanage that Pinkster and Duck were... it look like more like a Zoo...
Had to read the entire thread to get up-to-date. Yes, Duck is messed up for very legitimate reasons-- HOWEVER. His personality relates to mine a LOT which makes me feel better about myself when I see him. Also, he's shorter than me... (though I get jealous of him for that. I like short people for some reason.) and his fan-base is small...like mine. D: +sigh+ Ohhhh how I wish I were a popular singer/author/artist +cries+
Besides, his sexiness makes up for all of it! +Pinches Duck! He squawks and wiggles his tailfeathers on cue+

Xtream, why do you want to kill all female characters in the show that are attracted to Duck or Duck is attracted to them? I know you want him all to yourself (and the rest of us Duck fans too) but I would really like him to be hooked up with a decent female in the show...... hopefully not a female duck though..... female ducks in cartoon are so annoying!

And before I forget (because I always come into this topic ready to bring this up, but it usually escapes my mind before I type it out)...
Has ANYONE ELSE NOTICED that Duck gets absolutely POUNDED in nearly ever episode??? I mean, seriously! I always gets smacked, walloped, punched or some heavy object smashing into him...
Yet he never sustains any really injuries... How tough is that?? 8D

Indeed! Wow! Just goes to show that Duck truly IS the best! ^__^
Also... Anyone else noticed Duck's fatherly role over Slam??
No until you've said it. Yeah. In "Stop the World I want to get off", he told Slam to wipe his mouth or something with the chilli thing. And in "I am Slamacus", guess who happened to be with him when Pierre Le Pew was talking to him?
