I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a fan of slash pairings -is shot- and I'm not ashamed to admit I am a huge fan of the Tech/Rev pairing -is shot again- but, like of you have said, the mechanics, it's mind boggling! I have spent hours pondering about this and I still get how they manage to kiss, let alone......y'know....-is shot for being a pervert- And now I have gun wounds.......can someone get a medic? Please!?
What they both said in "Family Business". :/ I don't support the shounen-ai, but it is very easy to see why there would be fans of this pairing. The fact that both of them have been rendered in the standard "young healthy male" american-anime style of drawing doesn't help either. =___=; I was watching FB and I was like: "..........I can hear the boylove fangirls screaming." XD
Going slightly off topic, how IS LU anime styled? I've been wanting to ask this since a long time because many people described it as 'futuristic anime styled looney toons'.
I disagree a lot. And don't bring up their eyes, those aren't anime styled AT ALL. Anime eyes are COMPLETELY different and A LOT more detailed. The Loonatics just have an iris and that's no new in the american cartoons, really. And it wasn't the japanese who started it. The shape of their eyes isn't anime either.
You can't even see the typical 'anime reaction' in the show. All I see is american toon humor (attempts at it, anyway).
Is it because their bodies are more defined? I don't see how makes it anime-ish. o_O
It's not necessarily "anime" styled, really. Like most cartoons, it's drawn by Koreans, so that's a similarity most people see with today's cartoon shows. That doesn't make it Japanese animation one bit, even though "anime style" is only rarely an art style in itself lately, what with all the shortcuts they now make with digital animation and such. The grand days of almost completely hand-drawn works (ie. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, etc.) are rare now. I honestly hate the huge reliance on digital work that's been inducted into the art profession nowadays. Although only a handful will understand what I'm talking about >_>
As far as the statement in Family Business is concerned, the saying goes: actions speak louder than words XD

I agree that it's not anime styled, and that's mostly why reading all those reviews and opinions (even from fans) irritates me quite a bit.
LU? Drawn by Koreans? How are you so sure of it? I don't recall seeing Korean names in the credits of the show. Or where you referring to most of today's anime?
I'm sorry, I should have made myself clearer: It's anime "influenced". As is the case with most of today's cartoons, I guess. I'm not sure. It has the same "american anime feel" as Ben 10 or Teen Titans and whatnot. I'm not saying LU is "completely" anime or anything, it's just the feel of it that "they tried to make it a bit like anime so the kids would like it" in terms of character proportions, some of the action scenes where it's just a motion-lines background and etc. The feel of it is closer to anime than traditional american cartoons, imho.

Heh, look again. I already paid attention a long time ago. When it gets to the "animation services" section, you'll notice absolutely everybody becomes Korean. Practically all cartoons nowadays are produced there, after all.
Americans create the preliminary and finalized product, but all the core drawing comes from Korea.

Wow, I never knew that. You learn something new everyday, I suppose.

No problem, I wasn't talking about what you said specifically, but what pretty much everyone says. I just spoke up now and here, because you mentioned it and I remembered that I've been wanting to ask since a long time.
And i really don't see the anime influence either. *shrug*
I'm a full fledged Tevie of course. If you are too I suggjest you go to the fan-fiction section and read my fan-fic love letters. If you want the full version go to the naughty fan-fic section. But PLEASE PLEASE comment!!!

Weathering Heights: Do I need to say it by now? The famous (or infamous) rescue and wink scene. People can translate that however they like.
The Family Business: Rev's general interactions toward Tech. It's in friendship form, I know. But it got me all bubbly when Tech wipes off Rev's forehead while off screen
The Music Villain: Rev randomly places his hand on Tech's shoulder twice throughout that episode, the second time for apparently no reason (other than just being sweet ^_^).
The Comet Cometh: "Hey you don't have to worry about that Ace because Tech has plotted a course that allows us to avoid contact with any large objects and if anyone can do that it's my man Tech!" Hehe.. his man Tech XD
Responding to a very old feckin' post to someone who doesn't even come here anymore, but I'd like to add something. Not saying it's slashy but it is definitely a moment of some sort.
In that episode which I think was named Time After Time, the Loonies are battling this punk dude who's inside a robot firing lasers or something at them. At one point the barrel is pointed right at Tech and then Rev says something like "Look out Tech... I've got you!" And then JUST AS the thing fires Rev sweeps Tech away to safety. Yeah, yeah, teammates look out for eachother regardless, but Rev should have known full well that Tech would have been able to regenerate. But instead he risks his own skin and brings Tech to safety (which Tech also could have done himself). Something to think about, anyway. :3
Also a lot of Tech/Revvers seem to use the wink thing in Weathering Heights as grounds for reasonable belief. I thought it was kind of obvious, though, that Tech was merely poking fun at Ace/Lexi's relationship and not necessarily giving Rev a James Bondish "I'll be here anytime you need me, babay" look. Eh.

He could have been! You dont know what Tech was thinking. But then again it doesnt matter, no matter what Tech/Rev will never be an actuel pairing and the writers did not put in anything to suggjest it.
Here in the fan-community it doesnt matter either whether you can base the pairings on suggjestions or not, we make our own stuff!

That's not entirely true. It's very possible that the producers could have been testing a new demographic. There's been a lot more research as of late into the gay/lesbian/bi community when it comes to the entertainment industry. I previously took an official survey on "gaymers", as they call it; a delving into video gamers of that variety. In any case, I don't care so much about "this specific instant" or "that moment" between them. I like how Tech and Rev act around each other in general; to me, it's very familiar behaviour, especially with how I act with my special someone, along with how I know others act as well.
Oh, and hey there, everybody =D

But what would they be testing for? They know they could never make the pairing. Holy **** can you imagine the the looney tunes fans reactions then?? Its in the future, and the coyote and roadrunner have a gay relationship, AND we want your kids to watch it. They'd go amok and burn the WB studios down or something.
Not up much on media tactics, are you? Disney has inserted (sometimes obvious) sexual innuendos into their cartoons before. They're subliminal tests, not something that screams out "OMG look dey in luv!!1". If this WERE one of those cases when it comes to Tech and Rev, it would be something that mainly those familiar with same-sex relationships would catch on to and less obvious to others. There's no substantial proof of this, but it's generally how things work, and still remains a possibility.

Nope, cuz I'm not really into media. They're basically, discretely throwing a bone to us is what your saying right? Not an obvious pairing because they cant, but discrete things homo and bi-sexuals would catch on to, better than heteros?
Ok, the only problem I have visioning this is; why WB would be throwing us a bone in a kids program?
Look at how popular the pairing has become when you observe internet culture. I'd say it ended up with interesting results. The fact is, it's not just people on this forum that get all warm and fuzzy over the thought of Tech and Rev as a couple. I, personally, already got that vibe before I ever showed up here.

Ok, so your telling me the people at WB get warm and fuzzy over the idea of techxrev, then make discrete suggjestions for homo and bi-sexuals to pick up on in the community? On a program targetted at KIDS!
I'm still feeling abit scepitcal, not of Tech/Rev, I'm a full fledged tevie myself. I just dont think WB makes discrete suggjestions of a same sex relationship on a show intended for kids!
No, I meant it extends into general viewer territory: message boards, forums, fan services, etc. Not just here on this specified message board, with us talking about it. The Tech/Rev concept actually created somewhat of a stir within internet culture and certain fandoms. WB may have been wanting to see what kind of reaction something like this could cause.

Welcome to the magical world of the entertainment industry. You also wouldn't expect Disney to spell out the word "SEX" in dust particles during one of their animated films, but it purposely happened. And that's simply one example.
Also, I'm not a kid, but my fondness for these two characters not only got me to start watching the show, but also buy their DVD. Marketers aren't idiots.

I honestly think it was confirmed that Tech and Rev were exhibiting (perhaps subliminal) suggestive feelings for each other through, ironically, that one scene where their relationship was denied. You know,
It may not make much sense, but let me explain. Those lines, in general and in the context of the scene, seemed very contrived (especially Tech's response) and didn't add much to the scene or even to any comedic value. In fact, it seemed to have no purpose other than to throw in a nice "lol we're not (officially) gay for each other guys!" And there would have been no need for the writers to throw that in in the first place is SOMEONE SOMEWHERE didn't think those two were throwing out signals in the past.
So yes, I'll go along with Shagster's (Welcome back, by the way!) assertion that they're trying to cater to that market. However, this is still a kid's show, as techfan keeps pointing out, so of course they'll try to deny it.
Disney wrote SEX in a cartoon? ROFLcakes, they is teh pervs.
I beleive you now, I get it. They're throwing a bone to appeal to more people all around. But its abit of an anti-climax in my opion. I mean they can never do anything real, like they could with ace and lexi. Unless of course they want to deal with a mob of angry parents.
Its funny actuelly how this show appeals to so many people way above the targetted age. We started watching LU for the same reason then shagster.
Maybe Shagster just came back temporarily for the main purpose of contradicting my reference to him as "someone who doesn't even come here anymore", since he replied the day after I posted that. Doubtful, but that is my theory right now.
I thought I'd posted on this one; I've obviously voted, because the poll is only coming up with the numbers and not the selections, but I can't even remember what i voted for anymore. XD
Well, all i can say is that I'd be happy if they continued as just friends and I'd be just as happy if they become lovers on the show. ^__^
I like it either way. *nod*

You'd be suprised. Trust me when homosexual lovers are in the closet, they can seem to be ANYTHING, business partners, friends, soldiers, anything.
They've had to be in the closet for almost all of known history, so theyre good at it, just like the gypsies are really good at stealing because thats what theyve been doing for all their exsistance.
Nothing racial, but its true, gypsies steal. Ask anyone who lives in Europe and regularly uses the metro.

Yeah, and I'd expand on that by referring to the points Shagster initially made some 100 replies back. I can't exactly remember what they said, but they were good points.

Very true. But I think that many other television serieses have the same scenario where two characters have been good friends for a while and they either wind up falling in love with each other or with others, I'm not exactly. It's possible that Tech and Rev might have feelings for one another, but you could also be good friends with someone as the same sex as you and most likely be interested in someone else. I know that there hasn't been a third season, so that keeps us wondering. But, even though it might look like that Tech and Rev are lovers (because of some of the jokes we got hit with,) we can't 100% assume that they have feelings for each other. Perhaps all of this is a way to boost one another's confidence because they both know well enough that they are in the smae boat as one another and until they find their romantic interest, they show that they love each others' company more than a pair of friends are supposed to show. Just check out all the pairing topic on the board with Ace and Lexi, Duck and Lexi, Slam and Zadavia which is probably one of the weakest pairings, but it works more than Tech and Lexi, Rev and Lexi and Duck and Rev, considering that there has been little or no hints for those. It showed that Duck and Rev didn't get along in the first season and Duck felt guilty of vapourizing Rev once. However, I'm still not sure if it would be safe to assume that Duck and Rev have something going on. It's probably as likely or a little less likely that the Tech and Rev pairing. But, noticing all these pairing topics and everyones' theories about the other Loonatic pairings (Ace Lexi, Duck Lexi, etc) is sort of a process of elimination leaving Tech and Rev as a pair because the rest of the pairings seem more realistic. Mastermind might have been a student of Tech but there could be a 50/50 chance of a romantic pairing (see fan fiction and other peoples' points.) But then again, can't 100% assume.

No. I meant that Tech and Rev are more realistic than if they were paired with someone else. But, it could be like my theory; they could be just enjoying one another's company due to the fact that there hasn't been any other hintings for any of them with Lexi or Zadavia lets say. There is probably a stronger hinting of them being together. But since they don't exactly have a female lover, they could only resort to feed off of each other.
__________________
... I'm not an anti-Rev. I just really love Kuzco.
Well, it's actually sort of hard to explain, but I'll try. I mean, Tech and Rev are the only ones left to be paired since every other Loonatic has someone. It's like choosing partners for a science project. Tech and Rev seem to only have chemistry together rather than with anyone else, because they don't have anyone else. For example, Ace and Lexi are a realistic pairing because they're both rabbits or they have something in common or something somewhat similar to each other. Maybe it's because the two people who are most compatible have been friends for a long time, or they've been seen together a lot, etc... Tech and Rev have been seen together a lot and they've been working together a lotand they've also been friends for a long time, meaning that they probably relate to each other more than anyone else. Since none of them have admirers or seem to have much in common with the other characters, they were sort of matched up and that's why it seems that it's possible for them to be a pair.

I have nothing against someone being gay but I just o=don't think it's ready to go on TV yet. That and if Tech and Rev like guys then that means I don't have a chance with them! DX

Well, no, its not ready to go on TV. But that pretty much applies to any pairing that's not Ace and Lexi too, considering the predictable nature of Kids' WB, so that's no reason to be against it.
And for the 2nd point, according to
Björk,
everyone is at least a little bisexual. I think I've been through this before. So just cause Tech and Rev might like guise doesn't mean they won't like gurlz.
