The movie's only just come out in the UK now. I intend to see it soon! I've been looking forward to it for absolutely ages! Some of my earliest childhood memories involve the Transformers cartoon from the 80s! I'm so eager to hear Peter Cullen's voice as Prime once again!
The reviews i've read about the movie so far are very mixed. People either seem to love it or hate it intensely. How enjoyable was it for anyone here that's seen it?
I'm just going to copy-paste what I wrote into my LiveJournal the day I saw the movie (its short but it describes my feelings very well): The following is coming from someone who absolutely hated the toys and the old cartoon. Transformers was beyond awesome. Earlier I was so hyped up about it that I could hardly resist the temptation to switch to encrazed fangirl mode and type up a post entirely in caps. To put it simply: I absolutely ADORED it.
Well, coming from a girl who hasn't watched much of the cartoons and whatnot for me to be a total fan of it, I still loved it ^_^ Although a little on the long side, the plot was great while the battles were awesome looking and totally action-packed.
Yey! It seems you all give the Transformers movie a thumbs-up then! Excellent! Now i just have to wait 'til i can get my sister to come to the cinema with me.
So, do you all have a favourite Transformer from the movie? Who was the coolest to each of you?
..........I don't really know. XD Like I said I never really liked Transformers, so I didn't care about the robots as much as I did for the movie as a whole. Bumblebee WAS cute though. ^_^
The special effects were great, but the movie was downright horrible. Let's make a Transformers movie starring a huge cast of dull and pointless bit characters that nobody cares about! Oh yea, and you might just see some robots if you're lucky!
Seriously, how can you create such a long movie based on Transformers and introduce somebody as important as Optimus Prime HALFWAY into it? Not only that, but the Decepticons had no depth at all. They spoke about two or three lines and half of them only appeared for the sake of the giant final battle scene. Most of the human characters were pointless and if they had been completely taken out of the movie, it wouldn't have changed a single thing. For example, the blonde chick and her black hacker friend. They accomplished nothing and completely vanished by the last part of the movie, yet they had so much pointless screen time when I wanted to see ROBOTS on the screen.
Don't get me wrong. The movie was entertaining. I had fun. But Michael Bay is a crappy director who doesn't know how to make original movies. He just knows how to take something big, add a bunch of explosions, and pander to fans.
And for a good laugh click here (Warning: some bad language included)

Though as much as I hate what you said, I partly have to agree with you. Some of the battles between the robots had them mushed together, I couldn't tell who was fighting who, The only Decepticons that got most screen time was Blackout and Frenzy, I personally wanted to see Starscream a lot more.
Yeah. That is true. There wasn't enough of the robots, too much humans. (And really, WTF with the two peoplez making out on top of Bumblebee at the end? =__=;; )
Well i had been reading that the plotline wasn't anything great. So...not enough robots and too much of the humans then? Well i understand how the movie's supposed to come from a human perspective i guess. That's what helps the audience to see the magnitude of these giant bots. I shall see for myself tommorow i think.
And...Jazz dies?....*Tears start welling up in eyes.* Not again...(in reference to most of the G1 TFs been killed off in the 1986 animated movie.)
The problem with the humans is that there are TOO MANY. Half of them are pointless in the movie and do nothing but provide basic comic relief or wasted screen time filler. If you cut a good chunk of them out, it wouldn't have affected the movie one bit. The cartoons never focused so much on all these annoying people.
