They`re basically armed jets with no pilot, directed from computers in Nevada, to allow pilotless bombings upon enemy territory like Iraq. In other words, they`re flying robots armed with missiles. By next May, we`ll be sending 160 of those things overseas to do battle in place of our troops, allowing them to return home.
Sure, they seem so great now, but I`m already paranoid of the diabolical uses they could be put to someday should they be hijacked by terrorists or fanatics, or worse, used by the Government for iron-fisted enforcement.
[Although it *is* better than sending out poor humans to their deaths, I believe that this type of machinery should only be used for this purpose...and then destroyed after the war. Blueprints included.]

The whole Iraq situation is such a complicated topic, filled with conflicts and those lovely little Catch-22s. I personally do not think it was the greatest moves to bring in the reserves. The amount of troops we would need to make a positive difference in Iraq would be unfathomable, or at least, it is at this point.
The only real difference it makes is that it lightens the burden on the troops already there, which is unquestionably a good thing. But it makes the inevitable pull-out all the more difficult. A gradual withdrawal, which is what Congress is planning right now, is very dangerous. Why? The less troops there are, the more dangerous conditions are for the remaining troops. The safest way to bring the boys back home is a large, quick pull-out, which is extremely difficult if the number of troops there gets too large. So bringing in more troops only complicates this problem.
This may be a bit off-topic, but I once saw that the U.S. Navy was building a Destroyer prototype that had the same amount of strengh as a Light Crusier. It may not be the same build as a Destroyer (DD) or a Light Crusier (CL), but it's a good thing that they're only going to be bulit and used in the U.S.A.
The troops should have backed off as soon as possible. They only make the situation worse. Nobody likes to have foreign troops in their own country, and I'm sure no one would even want to be controlled and kept under observation by another (in this case, the USA). USA (and all the other countries) involvement just brought tension and th epeople feel oppressed. Some may want to lash out in some way or the other.
