Cause of the Spammer influx?

I only recently noticed the troll/spammer dealings in the HQ section and although it seems fairly minor (possibly only 3/4 accounts) I find myself unusually curious in determining a plausible reason for its cause (i.e. Random troll-bys on small and unknown forums seem a bit too rare for this to be the case).

Any ideas or hypotheses as to what could be happening?

[That's a pretty interesting observation...]

[I think spamming is usually caused by someone wanting attention and/or wanting people to get mad, sometimes starting fights and making small and/or big problems.]

[My online friend who I hadn't seen/heard from in two or three years (we just recently got in contact with each other) probably observed more things than I did when we had our message board problems.  I'm not very good at looking deep into things like this, but I'm doing my best to put the puzzle pieces together...I think.]

[As my online friend once told me, SPAM is just a form of stupidity; people just do it because they don't have the intellect (?) to think and/or do anything constructive online.]

[It sounds harsh, but I'm starting to agree with him; from experiencing the deaths of five message boards (well, technically four, since the last one died of no activity), I'm seeing that people who spam are doing it with less and less intelligence.  Instead of posting spam, deleting their account, and repeating the process, they're creating new accounts without deleting the old ones.  It leaves them open for a "Ban Attack".]

[...Crap.  I'm shutting up now.]

I always find spammers on message borads, E-mails, and even in multiplayer games. To me, it's just kids being stupid, after there told about 20 times, they get banned/blocked, then go to the next place.

To clarify, I'm not trying to determine "why spammer's spam," if you get my drift, but rather what attracted them to this small corner of the internet.

[*Shrugs*]

[They search for a place to spam, I guess.  It doesn't matter to them as to where they do it.]

Spammers are pretty much inevitable no matter where you are, but that has already been noted. As for reasons why people would spam this place, well, you can't forget that, no matter how much we like it, LU is still a muchly-despised show, and as such people can potentially spill their haterade all over this place once in a while because of that.

However, Cali specifically states on the front page of the site that criticism has to be constructive. It can`t be all bashing the show without suggesting ways they could improve it.

Scratch that...

It seems people can come here to bash the show, so long as their grammer is good and their language unoffensive, but flamers and the like will be prosecuted.

Well, LUO has expanded quite a lot in recent months (I think), so the more popularity something gets, the more people (whether spammers or true fans or constructive-critisism ppl) will flock to it. Fortunately, like tou said, SilverWolf, the spammer attack did not last very long and seems to be over.
