Omigah! I wrote something... And I'm putting it up somewhere... D8
Yeah, this is a LU fanfic that I'm in the process of writing up. It's nothing dramatic, nothing special - but I still wanna share it with you guys.
I dunno if you can recall, but not so long ago Akira wrote a fic about how the 'Tics came to be (good read, DEFINATELY recommend it). If you read through the comments left there, you'll see that I had the same idea (great minds do think alike, so they say. Right Akira? ;) ).
So this is my own version of how the 'Tics moved into their position during the canon. Trust me, it's pretty different from Akira's; no plagerism here. Her's will be way better than mine. X3
Ok, just a note; I am in no way a writer. I'm more of a visual artist. Which is why I had Rye (you all remember her, right? she ain't been around for ages! D8 ) fix everything up for me. *hugs teh Rye* I'm eternally grateful! *plans to draw her numerous love-filled pictures*
A lot of this is pretty angsty and it's mostly just dialogue. Just my thoughts on what happened after the meteor struck. Hope ya's all enjoy! Feedback is encouraged. =3

Thank You Silence - Prologue
“Breaking news: a meteorite, estimated to have been approximately two miles in diameter, plummeted into AcmetropolisBay at one minute past twelve this afternoon. Questions are being raised as to why our planet was not completely destroyed after such a catastrophic occurrence—”
“—Effects have been devastating. Authorities have yet to determine the full extent of the damage. We’re informed that relief efforts have now been deployed from neighboring continents to aid the survivors of this horrific disaster—”
“—Debris was hurtled in every direction as earthquakes racked our planet. Many buildings have been reduced to rubble and many more lives were lost—”
“—Scientists tell us that the speed at which the meteor was traveling, in addition to the force with which it struck into the seabed of Acmetropolis Bay, has completely displaced the tectonic plate that our continent rests on. This has caused a vast amount of volcanic action and land alteration, due to the sudden collision of plates—”
“—Many who lived through the incident are now homeless and fighting for survival, as search and rescue teams attempt to distinguish the living from the deceased—”
“—Where did it come from? Why didn’t we see it coming? Why were so many lives spared when it has been determined that our entire planet should have been annihilated—”
“—With each passing minute, the death toll rises. It appears that most of the deaths occurred within a three mile radius of the meteorite’s collision. Hospitals have reached their capacity with the many injured citizens pouring in, most of which have had to be flown out of the country to receive medical aid. Our local hospitals have just released a statement that they will now be treating only the most critical of injuries—”
“—Riots are developing all across Acmetropolis. Police forces are doing their best to regain order, but at the moment, chaos reigns supreme. Citizens pillage stores and homes while occupants seek medical support in our over-flowing hospitals—”
“The meteorite may not have extinguished our existence, but the pandemonium that has ensued as a result may surely finish what was not accomplished by the hit.”
Switching off the television without a second glance, Zadavia buried her face in her hands, unable to listen to a word more of the mayhem taking place in the world above.
“He has found me.” Lifting her gaze, she rested her chin in the palm of one hand. “It is obvious he does not care for these beings; he simply wants me finished.” She shut her eyes tight, having spent the energy to cry.
“So many lives have been lost. I should have gone somewhere uninhabited… I should have left this poor world alone. These people now bear such unscrupulous torment, all because I sought refuge on their forsaken planet.”
She rose to her feet, brushing her light-colored hair from her brilliant green eyes before strolling solemnly toward the tall glass walls of her current residence. Deep in thought, she stared out into the depth of the ocean. It was a wonder to her how she had managed the strength to protect her underwater dwelling, even after so much energy had gone into slowing down the meteorite’s descent to the planet. The sand of the seabed had mostly settled by now and the water was calm and clear. Although the marine life was clearly scarce, the view was still simply breathtaking.
Nevertheless, Zadavia’s thoughts were focused on more pressing matters. “I simply must assist these poor creatures. After all, I am the cause of their anguish.” A determined look passed over her fair features. She now knew what needed to be done.
~*~ Chapter 1
‘Talk about personal space issues; I can barely even walk three feet without bumping into someone!’
Lexi walked down the crowded corridor of the hospital with her headphones booming music into her ears. It seemed to be the only thing that could drown out the unbearable and undying hum of staff and patients going about their daily routines.
‘I guess it isn’t as cramped in here as it was a month ago, but the ICU is still full with patients. To think that two weeks ago it was me up there, shoved into a tiny room with several other people. My headaches mightn’t be as bad as they used to be, but the relieved look on the nurse’s faces when I was ordered to be moved out of there was a bit mean. Still, I suppose that they’re doing their best; this whole thing kinda caught us all by surprise.’
She sighed inwardly. Indeed it had caught the planet by surprise. World leaders were outraged that such a disastrous event took place before any sort of evacuation could be arranged. As a result, it had been decided that Acmetropolis’ “Disaster Detection” system undergo a thorough investigation.
Looking around at the multitude of bodies all crammed into one area really struck the light-furred rabbit. Everywhere she turned there were families trying to piece themselves back together; bodies of those who were unable to receive medical aid fast enough were being rolled away and the loved ones left behind were mourning their loss; children were scattered to and fro, searching for parents who were most likely no longer alive; and parents, likewise, were calling for their offspring, arguing with nurses and doctors, unable to cope with the bereavement of their young ones.
Lexi’s stomach gave a sudden lurch; she found the utter sorrow and mourning all around her had become unexpectedly overwhelming. Turning around, she decided to make her way back to the cramped room she shared with a handful of other patients, so as to avoid the torment that surrounded her.
“Hey, watch it!” she snapped irritably, her emotions running away with her as a middle-aged human male jostled past. But she received not even an apologetic glance, which she didn’t find at all surprising. Anthromorphic beings had never been held with the highest of regard; even less in the aftermath of the meteorite’s crash. Resources were dwindling, and humans believed that they should be prioritized over ‘her kind.’ It would not be long before the little respect the anthro’s managed to hold on to would fade away into nothing.
‘I’ve had enough of this; too many insensitive jerks sucking up the air, too many people crying. It’s too loud. I need some quiet. I can’t wait to get out of here—I can’t wait to have peace. Besides, I need to know how many of my friends...’ Her train of thought trailed off as she attempted to swallow the lump in her throat. How many of her friends would have made it?
Not long after she had emerged from an unconscious state, some weeks ago, she had witnessed a boy from her school, completely unmoving, being wheeled away on a beat-up hospital bed. How many more people were unfortunate enough to have died in the chaos?
‘Don’t think about it, Lex. Just focus on getting rid of these stupid migraines. Then you’re free from this mess of a place. Just focus…’
~*~
“Focus please, Mr. Slamacus. All you need is to focus,” one of the many male physiotherapists supporting the large Tasmanian devil encouraged. But the bulky beast wasn’t feeling very focused; rather he was preparing himself for his inevitable connection with the ground beneath him.
“Just concentrate and take it easy. No need to rush,” another of the physiotherapists advised, sounding overly optimistic.
“It’s alright; just imagine yourself taking a step. Just one step; wouldn’t that be great? Just take a single step. It’s all we’d like for you to accomplish,” yet another pleaded gently.
But in the midst of it all, one quick and hyper voice stood above the rest as the speaker piped up with, “You can do it Slam, old buddy! Think about your title as World Champion Heavyweight Wrestler! Think about getting back into the ring, doing what you love to do! Oh man, wouldn’t that just be awesome? All you gotta do is walk again; it’s really a simple task when you think about it. I mean, you walked before the meteorite, so how to do it is already imprinted in your mind. I’m sure you can overcome a few awkward movements and grasp a firm grip of the ground long enough to take a few—”
“Rev, please! Leave the poor, err, gentleman… alone.” The roadrunner’s mother gave the boy a stern look, before presenting Slam with an apologetic expression.
Slam smiled back; he would have liked to assure her that he wasn’t bothered, but not many people could speak Devil. It was a wonder that the young roadrunner, Rev, as he had declared himself to be upon their first meeting, could even begin to comprehend what he was saying half the time.
“Ma, he’s been my roommate for the past three weeks. We’ve gotten to know each other really, really well! He told me about how he used to fight in national championships and how this one time his opponent managed to grab him in a fierce headlock and wouldn’t let go even after the bell rang and he almost got strangled to death but it was later revealed that the guy who nearly killed him didn’t actually hear the bell because he had some sort of hearing problem after he took a chair to the head. Of course, it took me a while to actually work out what he said to me and I may have gotten it wrong, but that’s what I gathered from the conversation—”
The young roadrunner’s father placed a hand on his son’s shoulder, silencing him. “Son, it’s great to see that you’ve picked up some speed in your speech and I’m so, so glad that you’re talking like a normal roadrunner, but I agree with your mother. I think you should let the, err, gentleman… well, just let him be, at least while he’s with the doctors. In the meantime, you need to worry about your own legs. Now can you please try and stop them from shaking so much?”
“It’s not me, it’s them! It’s like my nerves are full of all this energy and I need to let it out somehow!”
“Well, actually,” Rev’s doctor spoke up, “that’s exactly what’s happening.”
“See Rev? You really are very smart. You could become a doctor if you wanted to. I don’t understand why you sought to work for that ridiculous sandwich store, instead of focusing all your intellect on your grades—”
“Ma!”
Observing the interaction between the small family and feeling the support of his much younger roommate had offered more encouragement to Slam than anything that any of the physiotherapists had said during his past six sessions.
He could do it. All he had to do was concentrate. He knew he could do it. He just needed to concentrate.

Wow. This is really good. I managed to visualise the events going on, the news broadcast thing was so effective and I can feel the emotion and tension of this. And it's just so...
Rumbling is felt around me.
Me: WOW!!!
I explode as a huge mushroom cloud forms. I wobble on the spot covered in charcol and then flop to the ground.
I really did try to make the new reports realistic; we just learnt about persuasive language used within the media at school, and I figured that I could apply it here. :D
Thanks a bunch Akira!!! *gets out hose and bucket and tells Rev to clean her up*
Rev: O.o ...
Akira: Yay! Wash me Rev!!! 8D

There is just one thing that I have to say about the story. The meteor actually crashed at 12.01pm. Not half past 4. Apart from that, keep up the good writing.
