Sorry, I've been flooded with RENT fics recently, but I've finally finished this.
I've realized that, although I've mentioned Flexa a lot in my posts, I've never told much about her. So here's my little story of my OC, and her short romance with our very own Tech E. Coyote. Thanks to Cassidy Coyote for writing about Cassidy, thus reminding me to get off my lazy butt and stop watching pointless youtube videos and get some writing done.
I don't own LU (except Flexa) or the song "Without You" written by the late Jonathan Larson, may he RIP.
A bit violent, but yeah. Not so bad.
There may be a sequel if I get any more ideas, but so far I've got nadda.

Suggested Listenings: Without You by Jonathan Larson.

\/

Without you, the ground thaws, the rain falls, the grass grows.

She came quietly. Zadavia just summoned the Loonatics together and introduced a girl she'd seen using her powers on a few passing thieves. They didn't know much about her, other than her name and her powers.

Flexa Cleo Kitty. Flexibility and extendable claws.

She certainly didn't look heroic. In fact, she looked much more like a villain. She wore drooling eye makeup, long brown hair, vicious lipstick, ripped fishnets, a jean skirt, and a blue tank top. Everyone was skeptical of her arrival, but she soon proved herself in their next mission. She may not have been cooperative, but she was clever, quick, and vicious.

And not just toward the villains.

Without you, the seeds root, the flowers bloom, the children play.

She was quiet, didn't speak her mind a lot except to make a witty or sarcastic comment. She snapped often, making rude suggestions when the time allowed. Whether it was Lexi offering fashion advice or Ace suggesting she connect with the team, they were all blown off with scornful insults. Eventually, even Duck learned to steer clear of her.

Without you, the stars roar the breeze warms, the girl smiles, the cloud moves.
Without you, the tides change, the boys run, the oceans crash.

Everyone tried at least once to connect with their new teammate, but all failed miserably. Not even Rev's optimistic charm seemed to break through her hard outer shell.

Tech had decided not to approach Flexa until a few weeks after her arrival, in hopes she would be calmer. Unfortunately, he was wrong.

He found her in a corner of the living room one day, moving her shoulders in a strange way. He approached her quietly, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey," he said softly. "You alright?"

"What do you think you're doing?" she snapped, withdrawing her paw from his grasp. Tech jumped a bit as she turned towards him, her eyes again covered with an unnecessary amount of mascara and eye-shadow. "I don't need your sappy sympathy!"

"Good," he growled back, walking away. "I wasn't offering it."

The stars gleam, the poets dream, the eagles fly, without you.
The earth turns, the sun burns, but I die, without you.

He approached her again a few days after, not quite sure what he was supposed to accomplish. It was around eleven at night, so he figured everyone else would be asleep.

He found her sitting on a cushion, looking out over the city.

"Hey," he said as he approached her side. "Can I sit down?"

She nodded. He sat down on the arm of one of the couches behind her.

Silence.

"Nice view from up here, huh?"

She gave him a quizzical look. Tech realized too late that she was sitting below him.

"I mean out the window," Tech said quickly, trying to cover his mistake. "You know, with the building outside...and the lights..."

"Yeah I figured," Flexa said coldly, returning her gaze out the window.

Finding the silence too awkward, Tech gave up his seat on the couch and joined Flexa on the cushion.

"Can I ask you a question if you promise not to freak?" he asked, since she wasn't saying anything else.

"Sure," she said, still not making eye contact.

"What's with you?"

She laughed softly. "You don't know how many times I've been asked that."

"I wonder why," Tech said dryly.

That one earned a chuckle. "I've just been messed up ever since the meteor. I don't know if it's messed with my brain or if I've just driven myself insane."

Since this was probably the longest set of words Tech had ever heard come out of her mouth at one time, so he was slightly taken aback.

"And it's not like you guys are doing anything to make me feel more secure," she scoffed.

"You're pretty much asking for it with that attitude of yours," Tech pointed out.

"I didn't ask for this to happen!" she snarled, withdrawing her claws dangerously close to his face.

"None of us wanted this to happen," he pointed out calmly as she retracted her nails. "We've just grown to except what's happened to us."

"So you've basically accepted that your life has changed forever, and that this is all you're going to do for the rest of your life? When you get old, you're not going to have anything left at all. The media will dump you, Zadavia's not going to give a damn about any of you."

"Maybe," he said. "but it doesn't have to be like that. No matter what happens to us as a team, we'll always be there for each other as friends."

"Did it ever occur to you that this superhero business is the only thing that you all have in common?"

"Maybe at first," Tech admitted. "but we've been a team for a really long time. Our friendship started with us all being heroes, but we've gotten closer over the years. Our time together has turned our relationship into something more than just a bond between, heroes; it's a bond between friends."

"Something I'll never have with you guys," Flexa pointed out, her voice sounding a bit odd.

Tech looked down at her and noticed her eyes magically produced the drooling eye makeup he'd usually seen her in.

It was then he realized that, whenever he'd seen her in drooling eye make-up, she'd been crying.

"Hey, hey," he said softly, leaning towards her to stroke her arm. "it's alright. It's all going to be fine."

The moon glowed softly through the window as the two heroes sat there together, both secretly enjoying the other's company.

"Flex," Tech whispered as, after a few minutes, the feline was still sniffling. "Flex, it's okay."

"I don't need any stupid nicknames," she whispered, a wicked smile back on her face.

Then she kissed him.

The crowds roar, the days soar, the babies cry, without you.
The moon glows, the river flows, but I die, without you.

The world was perfect for a few months. Just the two of them being together whenever they could, which was mostly after everyone else had already gone to bed. Either that, or when everyone else happened to be out at the same time.

It wasn't that Tech was ashamed to let everyone know they were together. Just frightened at the other's reaction. He knew that Flexa wasn't exactly the most liked teammate, and that he would be much better off dating someone like Lexi.

Somehow, that didn't matter to him.

But he would have preferred it if their relationship was kept from the other team members for a while.

The world revives—

Colors renew—

But I know blue, only blue, lonely blue, within me blue.

Flexa didn't exactly mind keeping their relationship secret either. It was hard enough for her to receive so much attention from one teammate, she could hardly imagine what it would be like with everyone wanting to start conversations with her.

Without you.

But somehow, they both knew it couldn't last.

A mission, that's all it was. Zadavia sent the message through her holograms, informing them that Optimatus was causing trouble throughout Acmetropolis, and that it was their duty to stop him.

Without you, the hand gropes, the ear hears, the pulse beats.
Without you, the eyes gaze, the legs walk, the lungs breathe.

"Alright! Let's go, Loonatics!" Ace led the team off into the weapons room to suit up for their current mission.

Flexa, however, stayed rooted to her chair, unmoving. A concerned Tech walked to her side.

"Are you going to be okay?" he asked. The cat's head whipped around to look him in the eye.

"What makes you think I'm not going to be okay?" Flexa snapped, rising from her seat.

"It's just... this is your first mission facing someone as dangerous as Optimatus. I don't want you to get hurt."

"What?!?" Flexa shouted, bursting into tears of laughter. "Oh come on, 'yote boy! Did anyone ask you if you'd be okay when you first started battling One-eye?"

"No, it's just..."

"For your information, I don't need to fawned over 24/7! Just because you happen to be the one I'm choosing to be with at this moment doesn't mean you have complete control over me!"

The mind churns!
The mind churns!

Tech twitched in anger, his ears and tail instantly on end and alert.

"Can you not be so snappy and... and... malicious all the time?!?" he barked, not being afraid to stare her down.

"Malicious?!?" Flexa snarled with sarcasm, cackling through her teeth. "Is that even English?!?"

"How can you behave like this...?"

"Just shut up, Tech," Flexa snapped. "I'm not going to put up with this sh..."

"Guys!" Ace called from a few rooms away. "You comin'?"

Flexa turned on the coyote, about to start another argument, but then thought better of it. She left him standing there, her tail flicking away angrily.

The heart yearns!
The heart yearns!

Silence. The entire ride to the scene of the crime was complete silence between the two. Sure, they talked to the others, but the silence between each other was deafening enough for both. The aircraft was filled with nervous chatter of the friends, and the hostility between the feline and coyote.

The tears dry, without you.
Life goes on, but I’m gone.
Cause I die, without you.

The battle was quick. Optimatus quickly took the upper-hand of the battle and was beating the Loonatics bad.

Without you.

"Foolish Loonatics!!!" Optimauts cackled. "You're wasting your time trying to defeat me!"

"Come on, gang!" Ace shouted through the falling rubble. "We can do this! Just keep up the fight!!!"

"Well well well, if you're going to try and defeat me, perhaps you should try bringing me down after this!!!" Optimatus laughed, swinging his arm up to the sky. With a few quick motions, the villain set up a wormhole in the path of the Loonatics.

The wormhole began sucking all the objects around it, dragging anything it could into its eye into an unknown dimension.

"Tech!!!" Ace shouted, trying to be heard over the sound of the wormhole. "Get that cyclops!!!"

Unfortunately, Ace's demands fell onto deaf ears. For, at that moment, he noticed a certain someone he cared for greatly was being sucked into the devastating path of the wormhole.

"Flex!!!" Tech called to her. He leaped toward the wormhole, trying his hardest to get to Flexa in time.

At last, he managed to grab both of her hands tightly, holding on with every bit of energy in his body. The pressure caused his eyes to well up with tears, yet he continued to hold on.

Without you.

"Tech!!!" Flexa called out to him, her own eyes watering. "You have to let go! You can't hold onto me anymore!"

"NO!!!" Tech shouted, astounded that she'd suggest such a thing. "I'm not letting go!!!"

Realizing that Tech wasn't going to release her, the feline gazed at him longingly.

"I'm sorry, babe," she said, her eyes glowing a bright blue. "I have to do this."

Tech gasped, knowing that Flexa's glowing blue eyes meant that she was activating her powers.

"Flex!!!" he cried, the strain from holding her so tightly causing his voice to sound tight. "Don't...!"

She didn't listen. With a forlorn smile, Flexa spoke her last farewell.

"Goodbye," she whispered, her eye make-up drooling one last time. There was a faint whisper that reached the coyote's ear, and then...

Pain.

Sharp pain.

Before the coyote could protest, Flexa had suddenly extended her claws into the backs of his hands.

He drew his hands back quickly as the pain seared through his palms, yelping as the blood poured from his paws. The reflex had hit him before he realized what he had done.

A flash of light. Then, the wormhole vanished. And with it, vanished the feline.

Tech sat there on his knees, not thinking, for once, about what the others would think of this. Instead, he was thinking about the girl who, although only briefly, had been such a huge part of his life.

He contemplated the whisper, possibly the last thing he would ever hear from her lips ever again. It was either "Thank you,"...

or "I love you."

He knew there was a slim chance that Flexa Cleo Kitty, the cold, cruel ice queen would ever profess her love verbally to anyone.

Still, he honestly hoped what she had whispered had been the latter.

Without you.

\/

And now all she does is make fun of me and drive me crazy.
Flexa: *pours water on my head* Nerd.
Me: YOU SUCK!!!!! *bawls*

Hey y'all.
So I got a bit of inspiration, finally. This is Pre-the Story Above,
Suggested listenings: Play the youtube video on the bottom of his post on loop.

\/

...The moon glowed softly through the window as the two heroes sat there together, both secretly enjoying the other's company.

"Flex," Tech whispered as, after a few minutes, the feline was still sniffling. "Flex, it's okay."

"I don't need any stupid nicknames," she whispered, a wicked smile back on her face.

Then she kissed him.

The kiss broke after a few seconds, Tech utterly bewildered at her sudden move.

"Thanks for the talk, 'yote boy," Flexa said softly, a smirk formed by her lips. "See you later." She picked herself up and left the room.

Tech sat there for a while, staring at the door in which the feline had made her exit.

'yote boy. That name had been used to describe him once before, he knew it.

His memories took him back to a mission he'd had a few years ago, right around the time the group had just gotten together...

\/

Why the hell am I here?

That was the one and only thought Tech had in his brain. He never thought he'd ever find himself in a freakin' nightclub, but there he was. Wearing a long overcoat and hat, in a nightclub. And not the type of nightclub where high-class people were playing poker, smoking cigars, and discussing horse races.

No. Male humans and anthros alike were waving twenties at scantily-clad dancing women on stage.

Of course, Tech was there strictly for business. A large public disturbance was driving the detectives of Acmetropolis nuts, and the Loonatics were called in to help deal with it. It was Tech's job to locate one of the witnesses, and try to grill some info out of her.

He snuck a look at the picture of the witness the police had given him. He had to peek into one of the pockets of his coat so nobody would see him, but he managed.

The picture was a mug shot of a feline-anthro, and it wasn't very flattering. The girl's long, brown hair obviously hadn't been washed in a while, and one brown eye glared at the camera. The other eye was too black and swollen to see what it was doing. Her expression was one of extreme hate and danger. Tech shivered, not wanting to think of the consequences of getting on that girl's bad side. Her grubby hands were clutching an even grubbier sign with her prison ID in big, black letters.

Suddenly, blaring guitar music blasted from the unseen band. Tech jumped halfway out of his fur, and he quickly turned towards the stage. He saw now that all the dancers had disappeared, except for one lone one he'd never seen before. The lights were too dark to really see very much of her, but Tech could tell she was a cat. She was wearing a red robe with white, hawaiian flowers patterned all over. Her brown hair was done up in a tight hairstyle, held together with a black ribbon that also held a black patch to the dancer's head.

She strutted around some railings that had been built as sort of a balcony above the stage. A few wolf-anthros sitting near the stage started howling with all their might as the dancer winked at them. Tech rolled his eyes, ashamed to be in the same family as them.

Right about then, the dancer began singing with the music, clinging onto the bars.

What's the time?
Well it's gotta be close to midnight
My body's talking to me
It say,'Time for danger'

More whistles. Tech tried his hardest to reach into his pocket and take one more good look at the picture.

It says 'I wanna commit a crime
Wanna be the cause of a fight
Wanna put on a tight skirt and flirt
With a stranger'

At that moment, the dancer yanked the robe off of her body, revealing her clothes underneath. She had on tight blue pants and a black top that only went a little bit past the starts of her ribs. She had on knee-high cheetah-patterned boots, and her tail flicked wildly back and forth. The wolves howled wildly. The lights suddenly got brighter around her, and the glitter on her outfit shone brightly.

I've had a knack from way back
At breaking the rules once I learn the
Game
Get-up life's too quick
I know someplace sick
Where this chick'll dance it the flames

The dancer yanked the bag out of her hair, taking the ribbon with it. The contents of the bag showered all over the stage which, in this case, was glitter.

We don't need any money
I always get in for free
You can get in too
If you get in with me

Tech gasped suddenly. Now that the girl's hair was down, he found her looking strikingly familiar.

Let's go out tonight
I have to go out tonight
You wanna play?
Let's run away
We wont be back
Before it's Christmas Day
Take me out tonight

"Meow," the dancer crooned seductively, sending the wolves off again.

When I get a wink from the doorman
Do you know how lucky you'll be?
That your on line with the feline of
Avenue B

Tech gazed at the picture in his paw, back at the dancer, then back at the picture.

Let's go out tonight
I have to go out tonight
You wanna prowl
Be my night owl?
Well take my hand we're gonna howl
Out tonight

Tech's thoughts were going crazy. The picture was apparently taken back in 2769, so the witness must have been three years older than the girl in the picture.

Oddly enough, despite their hygiene levels, the girl in the picture and the dancer looked quite alike.

Right then, the lights dimmed softly on the dancer.

In the evening I’ve got to roam
Can't sleep in the city of neon and chrome
Feels to damn much like home
When the spanish babies cry
So let's find a bar
So dark we forget who we are
And all the scars from the
Nevers and maybes die

Tech knew he had his witness. He figured his best bet would be to catch the dancer in her dressing room, so he left the stage quickly.

Let's go out tonight
I have to go out tonight
You're sweet
Wanna hit the street?
Wanna wail at the moon like a cat in
Heat?
Just take me out tonight

Tech pushed his way through the crowd, trying to make his way to the dressing rooms of the dancers. Several people snapped at him as he got in their way, but he continued to work his way towards the dressing rooms. He managed to hear the end of the dancer's song before he got to the door that said, "Staff Only."

Please take me out tonight
Don't forsake me - out tonight
I'll let you make me - out tonight
Tonight - tonight - tonight

\/

Yeah. By the way, in case you were wondering, this entire story is a flashback. The first part all in italics was partly from the story above on this topic.

I'll write the second part in a bit, and maybe even draw some pictures of this scene.
The woman in the video is Jaime Lee Kirchner. And this isn't my video.

re to start writing your quick reply.]

Did I creep you out with the idea that Tech might actually go to Nightclubs on a regular basis? XD
