Just a quick note to Jetsir.

Of course, your decision to leave LUO over this thread is entirely your decision and I can do nothing to change it.

But it's important to note the section this is in: The controversy section. And if the name says anything about the content of the forum, the posts will be controversial. Clash and disagreement is expected.

My big point here is that this forum does not reflect LUO as a whole, especially if the offender is just one person. Pretty much everyone other topic you post in that's not under Controversy will be just as fun and whatever as ever.

I'm gone for less than 4 freakin' days and this happens?
Wow. Wish I could've stayed in top of the debate more.
Applause to Dragon wing for that (long) post a up there, or on the last page or whatever, and it seriously needs to be applied on both sides in this entire controversy section more often. Thanks again for putting that up.

[I would like to add something that might not be as strong as the STD argument.]

["Legalizing prostitution will decrease the rape percentage."  Pfft, yeah, right.]

[I think some rapists enjoy the sick twisted pleasure of fear and humiliation from their victims.]

[I doubt that fear and humiliation would come with the prostitution job; sure, the prostitutes can act it out, but it would not be as "pleasurable" as the actual fear and humiliation from a rape victim.]

[...Why do people have sick, twisted fetishes?  It makes me want to vomit my intestines all over the floor.]

[...Well, not really, but it makes me feel disgusted.]

Rapists dont all rape for the same reason, I'm just think of men that possibely might be so sexually deprived they resort to rape.

I said might, if not thats what I meant. Because if I was so sexually deprived to the point I was about to rape someone, I'd rather go pay a prostitute to have consenting sex than go behind bars for rape.

Ah cmon, the world would be boring if we didnt have some sexual deviants.

That could be a valid counter-argument, but I would say a stronger counter-argument would be that legalizing prostitution would not necessarily decrease the rape percentage because rapists don't care very much about the legality of their actions anyway. Rape sure as hell isn't legal, so I doubt potnential rapists would avoid paying for a prostitute because it was illegal. So there isn't really any good grounds of rape deterrence there.

Also, people usually people have sick, twisted fetishes because of some sort of hormonal/chemical imbalance. It's usually out of their control.

This is in response to Kenny's post, btw. I keep getting ninja-posted. D:

I'd like to see a source for that Angela, that fetishes come from hormonal and chemical imbalances.

[Techfan979:  I said SOME.  I know that not ALL rapists rape for the same reason.]

[Dragon Wing:  Heh, that last question was rhetorical.  I know that people have chemical imbalances, and that hormonal imbalances can be a relating factor to it.  Some hormonal inbalances cause other things that are irrelevant to this debate.]

[So, chalk it up to fear and humiliation fetishes, chemical imbalances, and some forms of hormonal imbalances as reasons for rapists to "have their fun", as well as chalking it up as a reason why legalizing prostitution would not decrease the rape factor in the world.  STDs are the other reason, as weak as that sounds.]

What you thought STDs ran wild in sexually liberal countries?

Its common knowledge all scandanavian countries have great sexual liberty (Denmark legalized homo-sexuality in 1933, and sweden in 44)

The thing is, Norway has free condoms, and proper sexual education in the public and private schools. Free condoms+Sexual education+Common sense=Low STD rates.

its somewhat the same in most of western Europe, but scandanavia always have been the leaders.
The thing is, western European teens are generally horny and irrational because we've been WAY too liberal in raising them, and we spoil them.

So... they're even resurrecting STDs we thought were extinct since the 1500's.

...Oh.....
Sorry, I had no idea. I didn't even know about those countries being sexually liberal.
Thanks for the insight.

Well duh, thats why Europe gets called the ''dark continent'' by strict religous people.

That and almost half of our population are atheists/agnostics.

Jetsir: Dude... toughen up. If you couldn't stand the heat, why did you come into the kitchen in the first place? *mauled*

Dragon Wing: What Techfan's first post on this page said.

I've already stated my points, and cannot think of anymore.

Wow, I've been looking for this thread for a bit, and when I finally get here a bloody argument has already gone off. I'm ALWAYS late for these kind of things...anyway, since I have no points to add to either side, I would like to say that I agree with Techfan and the others who wanted to legalize it. I agreed with all of their reasoning and...I guess that's it. A very good idea for a contraversy, Techfan.
