Ace sighed as he sat down on the window seal. He gazed out at the sun kissed city. His mind was clouded with but one thought. A thought that rang through his head like a bell chime draining out the noises around it. A question he couldn't help but ask: What if she had lived? It had been 3 months now sens her passing, but still she was all he could think about. The thought of where and what he would be doing right now if she had held on long enough. If they had found away to stop the bleeding of the stab wound.

As he continued to stare out the glass he found the sun light shining on him was making him rather sleepy as his eye lids started to droop...

Ace opened his eyes as the soft pulses of a beeping devise penetrated his sensitive ear drums. He sat up strait in his chair and looked around. He had fallen a sleep a gain at the hospital. But what did he expect? He refused to go to bed at HQ, and tried no to go to sleep hear at the hospital. He had his reasons for this. He wonted her to have some one there when she wakes up.

Ace look at who lied in the hospital bed at his left. All though he thought she looked beautiful all the time the sight of wires and tubes and monitories hooked to her soft fur and skin made him all most sick. Ace stood up and looked over her, gently placing his hand on her cheek, and sighing. With a sensation of guilt flooding his veins ace whispered, “I'm sorry Lexi. I'm so sorry.”

He retreated his hand from Lexis face and slumped back down into his chair. He felt this was all his fault. Terri had aimed his attack him, and Lexi had shoved Ace aside. Cosing her to end up where she was now. In critical condition at the hospital. The guilt had been washing over him time and time again sens it happened.

“Ace, It wasn't your fault.” Ace heard the soft whisper of a voice and ran to her bed side. Lexi weekly smiled at him. she couldn't move much but she could at least smile.

“Lexi your awake!” Ace said as he held her hand in his. His word where shaky but he continued, “We all thought we lost you Lex.”

Lexi seemed a little out of it but still she continued to smiled, “I'm all right Ace, but I don't remember much.”

“Well Lex, wiall you asked us to promise not to change Tech took some bandages from his pack and did a temporary stitch up. It stopped most of the bleeding. Then the ambulances came and took you away. So hear we are.” they looked at each other for a moment, “...Um...Lex. I don't understand...Why did you do it? W-why did you get your self heart for me?”

Lexis smile dissolved away as she remained silent for a moment to collect her thoughts, “... there are two reasons really. One though that probably made me do it more then the other. I guess the first reason is that the team needs you more then they need me.”

“Lexi tha-thats not true!”

“yes it is Ace. I know if it had been you I would of never been able to carry on as leader. And thats the truth. The team needs you Ace... reason number two is...” Lexi terned her head away so he couldn't see her face, “I couldn't bear to see you heart because I love you, Ace.”

“What?......Lexi?” Ace looked only to see she had fallen into slumber again. Ace stood there in a daze. His hole body shaking for reasons he didn't understand. He was tugged from his daze when the door opened and shut. “Oh, h-hay Tech. I guess you came to stay with Lex for a wiall? Dats good. She woke up you know. Only for a moment though. Dat means she getting better, right? Ya, right. I'm going to go. Do stay with her for me.”

As Ace started for the door the coyote stopped him, “Chef are you all right? You seem very out of it.”

“I'm fine Tech. Jest a little tired.” Ace again went to the door. When there he felt water soaked down through his fur on to his cheeks, and only then did he realize he was cry the hole time.

As time passed Lexi slowly got better. The Loonatics came to see her often. All except Ace. The doctors said her wound was healing, that she was luck that non of her meager arteries and organs weren't hit, but that her muscles are extremely week. Lexi would have to go to a rehab where she would have to re-learn how to walk and do most things.

Lexi was now determined to get better. In time she was released from the hospital and aloud to go back home. When she got back she thought she could spend time with Ace, but still she hardly got a glimpse of him. She couldn't fallow him that easily because she had to use crutches, after that she walked with a limp, and finely she was able to walk normally.

Lexi now laid in her hamic crying. It had been over 6 months sens she first woke up. All that time she and Ace had spent no more then a minuet of two together. She missed him with all her heart. She wonted to spend time with him, talk with him, and jest hang out with him again. But all she could do was lay there and cry.

She stopped for a moment and sat up. Her sensitive ears could hear some one at her door. Some one had stopped and placed there hand on the cold door. She moved quickly to her door and opened it. Who ever it was had taken off. All Lexi saw was a bit of yellow turn the corner.

“Ace! Wait!” Lexi called out as she gave chase. She ran but it didn't help when she got to the corner there was no one. She slowly walked down the second hall way. Tears welling up in her eyes. She hated this. She hated never seeing him, but she didn't hate him. She hated herself for this. “I should of never told him.” She whispered to herself. Suddenly she founder herself in some ones arms and being tugged through a door.

“Ace!?!” She said as the door close and she saw who had grabbed her. She looked around and realized that they where in the broom closet. “Ace why did you jest grab me?”

“Because it's one of da few places where we have a better chance of not being interrupted.”

“Ace I've missed you.” Lexi said ignoring what he said, “Why have you been avoiding me all these months?” Ace looked down. He realized how much pain he had sent her through. “Lexi I needed to think some things out. Dats all.”

“What things Ace?” Lexi was crying again.

He sighed, “Lex I...Did you mean what you said?”

“What?”

“Da first day you woke up. Did you mean what you told me?” Lexi looked down. Un-answering, “Lex I need to know. Do you love me?” Lexi bit her lower lip and nodded her head. Ace placed his hand under her chin and made her look up at him. Slowly he pressed his lips against hers. He separated the kiss and said, “I love you two.”

Ace and Lexi did not hide there relationship from there friends, no. They showed it freely, much to Ducks displeasure. Nether of them had ever been happier then when they where together, so it was only a matter of time before they 'shared there bed' with each other. Now, over a year sens her accident with Terri and his sword, Lexi looks throughout HQ for Ace.

“Hay Tech have you seen Ace?” Lexi asks as she approaches the coyote at he breakfast table.

“I think he left.” Tech answered. Lexi held one of her arms and looked at the ground. Her eyes glazed over in thought. “Where'd he go?”

“I'm not sure,” Tech said noticeably lieing, but she had bigger things on her mind, “Why are you looking for him Lexi? Is something wrong?”

“No. I jest need to talk to him about some thing.” As she said that the doors opened to reveal Ace.

“Oh Lexi.” Ace said cheerfully as he came over

“I wont to talk with you.” The two bunnies said in unison. The looked at each other and laughed.

“Ne, how bout we take a walk?” Ace suggested. Lexi smiled, “Sounds good to me.”

The two walked around a near by park and eventually laid down in a soft spot of grass. Other couples had done the same and walked around the sunny park.

“So Ace what did you wont to talk about?” Lexi asked.

“Ne, you foirst.”ace said. Lexi sighed “All right,” She sat up and kinda hugged her legs, “Ace I'm...I'm pregnant.”

Ace sat up as well his eyes wide, but a smile came across his face. “That's wonderful Lexi!” She looked at him happily. “You really think so?”

“Of course Lexi. It's wonderful news!” Ace pulled her into a hug, “Of course you realize dis means I'm gonna have to mare ya.”

Lexi pushed away, shock in her eyes, “Run that one by me again.” Ace chuckled. “Remember dere was something I wonted to talk about to?” Ace pulled a small ring from his pocket. “Well. Will you mare me Lex?”

Lexi was speechless as he placed the ring on her finger, “...Ace I.... yes!” She hugged him with all her mite.

“Well it looks like ders two t'ings for us to celebrate.” Ace said as he placed his hand on her lower abdomen where there child grow. Lexi smiled as she snuggled close to him. They both layed there in the warmth of the sun. Soon they drifted off to sleep with happy hearts.

...Aces eye shot open and he fell of the window seal. He looked around only to see the inside of HQ. With tears in his eyes, he bleared his face in his arms and knees. It had all been a dream he thought Jest a fragment of make believe! A dream of what could of happened! No! Not a dream. It was a nightmare! Only a nightmare would be taken from me like dat! Lexi is still dead!... Oh Lexi. Only if....
