Obtaining glasses is not exactly something to be proud of. It means that your vision sucks, and your eyes could be straining to process details on every little thing. I am proud that my vision is excellent, and that I do not need glasses...or contacts. However, if you feel good about obtaining those things that will make you look like a nerd/geek/whatever (no offense to them), then I am happy for you...not. You should have gone with the contacts.
...
Er...congratulations, I guess.

You have an opinion and that's fine, but choose your wording carefully. You shouldn't bring down people who were born this way, telling them they shouldn't be happy for a pair of glasses and then proudly pointing out that your vision is excellent. It's really rude.
With that said, not everyone can wear contacts. Granted today's contacts aren't a real bother but unlike glasses they can still damage the eye, since they're essentially foreign objects in direct contact with it.
Yes, Shirako, getting glasses/contacts means the wearer has bad vision. It doesn't necessarily mean they look like a nerd/geek. Some nerds/geeks don't have glasses at all.
And as for you Leia, don't be calling people jerks. Be considerate and fair and correct them politely.
NO MORE FIGHTING. I SHOULD BE DOING A PROJECT AND HAVING TO MODERATE FIGHTS ON THIS BOARD IS JUST ONE MORE THING GIVING ME HEADACHES IN THE AFTERNOON. THANK YOU.
I said "Congratulations" at the end of my post. I did not mean what I posted...at all. I probably should have clarified what I meant. All I said was in good fun...but not in your case, eh? Look, I did not mean what I said.

's all right. Just...read over your posts or something, I guess.
More of a problem is Leia's overreaction. Leia, dear, miss Oddity doesn't like people yelling when it's only her watching over the board...
Also, if contacts dry up in your eyes, they'll sting like mad! D8 I've had first hand experience. Contacts are easier to wear and such. Plus, if you get hit in the head by a ball, they won't pop out and break! xD
The only fun contacts are actually the coloured ones...You can change your eye colour and scare people. Also, did you know that they have "Cat-eye" contacts? Wicked. I would like to see someone actually wearing those...
Also, no hard feelings, Leia?

20/85 means I see things 20 feet away as if they were 85 feet away. If you have, like, 20/15 vision, that means you see things 20 feet away as if they were 15 feet away, and you have amazing vision.

Aaaaaand we’re the same Leia! I got my glasses about a week ago because I couldn’t read or see things that were a certain distance away from me (near sighted from all the straining my eyes do when I draw I guess…). I’m not sposed to wear them all the time either, but I’ll usually wear them when I’m walking around and I know I need to recognise somebody, like say down town or walking around the corridors.
I’m still pretty pumped about it. 8D
I’ve wanted glasses for years. However, my recent excitement over getting them is not just because they’re a cool accessory (and honestly, I don’t know where you guys live, but over here, glasses aren’t associated with nerds… At all… Linkways are associated with nerds… And Warhammer… Among other stuff that my brothers seem to take an interest in… But mostly linkways… *shiftyeyes* Linkies… XD ).
I’m excited about my glasses because I can FINALLY see again. It’s not whether you look good or not, it’s whether you can look… Medical necessity takes over fashion trend in my book any day.
…
But that could just be because I had to wear a scoliosis brace for a year. ^^;;

I got Glasses back in December. At first when my eyes where ajusting to the glasses it hert my eyes a little but now it feals wired to be with out them.
I wore glasses since I was 5. Hereditary short-sightedness - both of my parents had excellent eyesight, but the women on my dad's side were short-sighted. But I also wear contacts, started wearing them 3 years ago. Then people saw that I had very nice blue eyes!
I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing glasses. They make you look smart, but also strict (depending on the dioptrey). If you are short-sighted, glasses make your eyes seem smaller, and if you're long-sighted they make your eyes look bigger.
