Pets?  Pets?!  How dare you degrade our non-human-friends!  That is an offensive term!

...

Anyway, yes, I have two non-human companions.  A male Pembroke Welsh Corgi and a male cat.  They have a strong bond with my sister (Melody) and they like my other sister (Julia).  They also have a semi-bond with me.  Melody tends to spend more time with them than anyone else in the family, though...she feeds them and gives them hugs.

I named our Pembroke Welsh Corgi after one of the Loonatics...Heh.  His name is "Rev".  Our male cat's name is Artie.

We love them very much.

Yep, I have my fair share of pets! 2 dogs and 2 birds, right now. One of my dogs is a black lab/golden retriever mix, and he's really sweet, and named Barkley. Our other's a total mutt, and she has 3 legs (car accident). I have two ****eteils (sp?) for birds, and they're really loud but funny.

I used to have more pets. 5 dogs, 6 parakeets, 13 fish, around 50 finches, for instance. They have all since either flown away or died. Such is the tragedy of having pets.

But I love pets either way. I don't know where I'd be without them.

You did that on purpose, Dragon Wing.  "Pets" is an offensive term...it makes them sound so...inferior.  Humans may be the dominant species, but humans are not exactly the smartest creatures on the planet.

Anyway, when I named our little Pembroke Welsh Corgi, my family thought it was a good name...

Mother:  Aww, he's cute.  What should we name him?
Julia:  Buddy?
Melody:  That is too...generic.  How about Shiro?
Father:  That sounds pretty nice.
Shirako:  How about Rev?
Mother:  That's a great name!
Father:  I like it.
Julia:  That is a very good name.
Melody:  Where did you come up with that name?
Julia:  I bet it was so that he revs up.
Shirako:  Err...no.  I got it from Rev Runner.
Mother:  ...
Father:  ...
Julia:  ...
Melody:  ...
Shirako:  ...From Loonatics Unleashed?
Father:  ...Um...
Mother:  ...
Julia:  From that cartoon?  You need a different sense of taste, brother.
Melody:  Actually, it is a cute name.

That is what happened.  I struggled to remember that decision.  But it was interesting.

Ah, my pets... let's see... -ponders-

Well, I /would/ say I had two budgies, but Rei passed away two weeks ago.
So I only have Nova. Although he's not really mine anymore...
I'm giving him to my cousins' because I'm moving overseas.

I've had a lot of pets in the past though. Somewhere around 300 or so...
Had about eight or nine dogs, sixteen cats, two guinea pigs, three hamsters, two ****atiels, two budgies, fifty+ random fish, two or three beta fish, five goldfish, hundred and fifty or so chickens, nine ducks, two bantam chickens, one jungle fowl, etc, etc.

That's what happens when you live on an acreage. I love animals, so it's quite fun growing up around so many pets. One day I aim to start a dog sanctuary. =3

I have a dog and cat. The dog, being my sister's while I adopted the cat.

Or well, the cat adopted me 'cause you can never tell with felines. His name is Tommy and i luff him muchly.

Once my grandmother sold my puppy without my permission. sniff.gif

:cries: I cried for a long, long while. I was really mad at her! tears.gif But I got over it of course. But I'm still annoyed. Then as an apology she gave me a new one. I accepted it, but it still didn't change me loving my old puppy.

But I was able to visit my old puppy! w00t.gif And at least my old puppy still recognized me. It made me happy again. And my new puppy died a few months ago. tears.gif

And the dog I have now I got him a month after my puppy's death. My dog right now is just a few months old.

Finally found some pictures of my lovely pets, past and present.
Of course, there's way more... but I won't put pictures of all of them.

1 is of my two budgies Rei and Nova... Rei passed away last month. Nova's been so depressed without her.

2 is of my beloved hamster Pierre La Rose Fielding. His is a very long story... I loved that little guy. He passed away about a year ago now.

3 is of Kayla. My awesomeful old pitbull/dalmation/ibizan hound mix. Also parted with her three years ago due to moving. Man, I miss that dog more than anything.

4 is of my very first puppy... Jenny. I chose her because she was so headstrong. She ended up trying to go head to head with a mountain lion in order to protect Ben and Coco. She was, of course, killed and dragged off before we could do anything for her...

I live in California and cougars are a normal sight around here. It's like..

Lovegreenanred: California is exactly where I lived when it happened. I grew up there. I was living on a 20 acre farm and we were surrounded by wildlife. Our cats were always having trouble with rattlesnakes, coyotes, and hawks. But yeah, Jenny literally gave her life to protect her brother Ben, her adopted brother Coco, and all the animals on the farm...

Stylediva: Like I said to Lovegreenanred, I was living in California on a 20 acre farm. I was actually sleeping when it happened. I kinda heard some barking in my subconcious, but the dogs were always barking, so I didn't think much of it... however, my mom's crying woke me up like five minutes after it had happened. She witnessed the whole thing. We couldn't have done much to save her. She was too headstrong and didn't intend to back down. Maybe if we'd had a gun to scare the thing off, but even then... I can just imagine Jenny running after the mountain lion and getting herself killed anyways.

*sniff* That reminds me of this super sad book called "Where the Red Ferns Grow" when th kids dog gave his life to a cougar trying to his master and his sister. After the dogs death the sister dog died of a broken heart...
