I'm taking a break from writing "Loonatics Unleashed G" for a moment to write a fan fic based Dragon Wing's story "The Fragile". I did say I was about to write something about it depending on how she ended the story. Obviously there had been a change of plan when she put the last chapter up, but it did give me another idea from it. So this is dedicated to the hardworking person who wrote such a fantastic story. aww Enjoy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A purple spotted, green waitress wiped a yellow dish cloth across the silver counter she stood behind. As she cleared the liquid stain that was there before, she looked up to the empty 1950's style cafe. Apart from some music playing quietly from a jukebox, the place seemed dead with silence. All three of her brown eyes blinked on her face as she gave a deep sigh as she focused back down to the counter. She continued to clean the counter with a bored expression on her face.

Suddenly a creaking made the waitress instinctively raise her head up.

"Finally." She thought in relief. "A customer."

The waitress brushed down her pink waitress's uniform and pricked up her two antennae’s as the customer sat himself down on a stool near where she stood. The waitress noticed that his appearance was so different to hers. The male figure seemed be a half human, half bird wearing a black and red uniform. As she gazed upon his face, he too seemed to have a vacant look upon it. He snapped out of his own trance when he noticed the alien in front of him was about to ask him something.

"Would you like anything sir?" The waitress asked him politely.

The bird looked around to find the emptiness around him in the cafe. He then looked back at the girl who waited for a response.

"Do you have a meal of the day?" He questioned her.

"Yes we do." The waitress nodded her head. "Today's special is Erkslop burger. Would you like slikes with that?"

"That will be great please, with a cup of coffee or something." The bird answered her.

"I'll get it right away sir." She said in a monotone voice as she disappeared towards the kitchen door.

As the customer waited for the order to be fulfilled, he fidgeted with his fingers. It was only a few seconds later before the alien returned with a silver kettle and a large white mug. She placed the mug on the table as she poured the contents of the liquid from the kettle into it.

"Surprisingly enough, we have some coffee here." She finally spoke to him once more. "Not many people like coffee in this part of the galaxy."

The bird took a sip from the mug and swallowed.

"This is good coffee." He said as he looked upon a name badge on the waitress's chest. "Your name is Adahla?"

The alien looked down on her badge and nodded.

"My name is Rev." The bird replied. "Rev Runner. Now we're on equal terms."

Adahla had never heard anybody say that to her as a waitress. Sure she gets a conversation out of some of her customers now and again, but never did they say that she wasn't just some waitress. She leant over the counter and rested her head on her two fingered hands while balancing her elbows on the counter.

"So what brings you to this diner?" She inquired. "You're not a regular here."

"I was just hungry that's all." Rev replied as he took another sip of coffee from his cup.

"So do you even come from this planet?" Adahla asked once more. "That uniform looks so unique."

"Nope." The bird shook his head. "In fact, I'm trying to find my way back home."

The waitress grew interested in this customer. Normally she'd listen to dreary tales of lost love and stories about other's interests that she had no intention of liking but had no choice but to listen to them. In fact, this was probably her first time she'd ever got to say something other than the first question she asks other customers without them rambling on about a completely different matter.

"So you're like a traveller or something?" Adahla said.

"Something like that." Rev told her. "As I said, I'm trying to get back home."

"And where's that?" She cut in again.

"To a place millions of light years away from here." He stated. "Acmetropolis, on Earth. You ever heard of it?"

Adahla shook her head, but it was clear from her face she wanted to know. Just then, a shout interrupted their conversation.

"One Erkslop burger with slikes ready!"

"Just hold that thought for a second." She stopped the bird as she walked off to get his order.

It wasn't long until she finally served the customer his food. Rev grabbed the burger with both his hands and took a bite out of it. The waitress hunched over once again like she did while they both talked.

"So what's Earth like?" She asked while she waited for the bird to swallow the burger.

With a gulp, he cleared his throat and gazed at her.

"Well Earth was a beautiful planet full of sky-scrapers and the sky was sort of orangey, purpley blue cos it was knocked off axis caused by a meteor." He described to her.

"A meteor?" Adahla face spread across in fascination. "Surely the planet couldn't have survived that?"

"Well it did." Rev said. "Not only that, but when it landed it gave some people superpowers. It was then six people were formed into a crime fighting group called the Loonatics."

"That's how I recognise you!" She gasped. "You're also one of the "Guardians of the Universe" right?"

"Wow." The roadrunner rubbed his head. "We're quite well known all over the galaxy then."

"You must live an exciting life?" The waitress said. "Saving people's lives and going on missions into different places?"

"It sure is." He answered. "It's not easy being a superhero, but the relief of the fact that the city is still standing and people's lives have been saved is more than enough reward for me."

"But why are you travelling here by yourself?" Adahla implored curiously. "I thought you guys would be on a mission together or something like that."

"Um..." Rev hesitated with his answer. "Lets just say I went through the wormhole while dealing with twenty or so criminals."

"Why? What happened?"

"Well there was this guy called Vincent who tried to make us disband because he didn't like the idea of anthros being as equal as humans." He started. "So he decided to control some of the super villains that he captured and tried using them against us. But then Tech built something to create a wormhole but needed someone to lead the villains to it. So I volunteered to lure them in and the villains and I got sucked up into the wormhole."

"Wow..." Adahla exhaled.

She had no idea what he had been through. And she thought her dreary life as a waitress was stressful enough. He had to practically fight for his life in order for him to get home. She watched him finish off the burger and start on the slikes.

"So do you miss everyone back on Earth?" She questioned him.

He took another sip of coffee before he could explain.

"Do I ever?" He responded. "I mean, they're all probably worried about me. Obviously my family are guttered for me. But the team are probably finding it hard to do things without me."

"First there's Slam. He's a Tasmanian devil who has the power of strength and being able to summon tornadoes at will. He has a gentle heart really but boy does he love his food. He could eat anything and still be hungry for more."

"You think he'd like the food here?" Adahla commented.

"I think he would." Rev answered.

"Then there's Duck. He can sometimes be the most annoying, sarcastic, attention seeking and vain person in the world. But he does have his heroic moments and he's ever so loyal to the team."

"Lexi's the only girl in the team, but she can pack a punch when she wants to."

"Poor girl." The waitress giggled. "I'm sure she feels vulnerable being out-numbered by you guys."

"Nah. She's really cool about it actually. Yeah she feels that way sometimes, but she's a very good listener, and can do amazing gymnastic stunts too! You'd really like her if you met up with each other."

"But then there's Ace who I think is Lexi's boyfriend and vice-versa, but they haven't got to confessing yet. He's the leader of the team. He's firm but fair, but he sure does come up with some good come backs when facing a villain. Like the time when he was fighting with a giant robot Viking and the bad guy was like 'We will conquer your city and then your world' and Ace was like 'No you won't' and the Viking was like 'Yes we will' and it carried on like that until Ace went 'Yes you will' and the Viking went 'No we will not conquer your planet!' And boy was that villain angry."

Both of them laughed loudly. When they finally calmed down, the laughter turned into light giggles.

"He sounds like a guy with a good sense of humour." Adahla chuckled.

"Oh but my bestest best buddy in the whole world is Tech, even though he is a coyote, and roadrunner and coyote families fought for a long time until some differences were settled. But me and Tech are cool with each other. We may have our petty squabbles, but it's not like we had a big fall out. But I'll tell you something, he's like the smartest guy in the world. He could work out equations within a second, and he invents a lot of gadgets that we use in our missions. He is an absolute genius I tell ya, he's cleverer than anyone else I've seen or met before."

"You must really care for them then?" The waitress commented.

Rev just gave a smile.

"Yeah. I miss them too." He said. "But I know I'll get back to my home. I just know I will."

Just then he managed to finish off his last slike and sipped the last puddle of his coffee and put the mug down onto the counter.

"And I must say that those were some of the best coffee and burger I ever tasted." He praised her.

"Thank you." Adahla gave a little bow. "I do my best."

"Do you do any hobbies when you're not at work?" Rev asked.

"I haven't got much time to do them." She sighed. "Work practically takes up most of my time, but I'm used to it."

"But what would you like doing though?" The roadrunner inquired. "You can't just like work all the time."

The alien paused to think about the answer. Then she rose her head to face him.

"I like to become a dancer when I've finished my studies." Aldahla confessed. "At the moment I'm trying to get enough money to do my studies at the university. But as you can see, I'm not there yet."

"I bet you'd be really good to." Rev complimented her. "If you work hard enough, you'll achieve your goal Just don't give up is my advice."

"I'll take it on board." The alien smiled.

The roadrunner then jumped off his seat and pulled out a brown wallet.

"How much was the meal by the way?" He asked.

"That would be 2.65 wrings." She replied.

Rev opened his wallet and realised he didn't have that kind of money. He displayed a sheepish grin at the waitress.

"I'm sorry, I don't have that amount of money." He apologised. "But I do have these boxes in my ship. I could go get something that you like in exchange."

Aldahla wasn't sure whether agree on the bird's offer. But something in her trusted him. He was the only person that she enjoyed talking with. It wouldn't be fair to tell the chef in charge about the situation. She nodded her head instead.

"Lets see what you've got." Aldahla permitted him.

"Okay, I won't be long." He said.

And within a blink of an eye, he was straight out of the diner. A few seconds later, he rushed back in with a brown box in his arms. He placed it on one of the tables as Aldahla approached him from the counter. She looked at the box curiously.

"What's inside it?" She asked Rev.

"I don't actually know." He answered. "But most of the other planets I've visited gladly took the boxes in exchange. Maybe it has something valuable inside that they all want like money or something."

Aldahla peered around the box to see if she could see anything that would give away the contents. Nothing. She looked back at Rev with a sad look on her face.

"You better go." She suggested. "You should go find your home and be with your family and friends again."

Rev stared at her for a moment until he gave her a smile. He knew she was right. He turned away and held onto the door handle. But before he left, he gave one last glance at the waitress. She gazed at him back as if he was about to ask her for one last request.

"I guess both of us have a long way to go." Rev said.

Aldahla nodded in agreement.

"But we'll get there eventually." She spoke back.

It was then Rev gave a broad grin before he gestured her farewell and walked out of the diner. The waitress stood alone in the diner with this box placed on the table. But instead of trying the box to get some idea what was inside, she floated back towards the counter. But Aldahla couldn't help but take one more glimpse out of the window before seeing a purple spaceship whoosh into the sky. It was then that she knew that Rev was in that ship.

She gave a dreamy smile as the alien waltzed back towards the counter. Once there, she cleared the kettle and the mug and placed them near the coffee making machine. But just as she turned around, she noticed a coffee stain from under the mug. She was about to reach for the dish cloth until she paused her action. Aldahla felt that the stain was like a souvenir that Rev had left her. Even if it did look like a mess on the counter, she decided to leave it. She wanted that endearing essence of a good person to hang for a little bit longer before she was forced to clean it up for hygienic reasons. After all, she did feel that she took part in the most interesting conversation with the nicest of people to have ever walked into the diner.

"I hope you find your home." She uttered under her breath.

THE END.

This makes me unbelievably happy.

To be honest, I hadn't ever really given a second thought to the details of Rev's trip home, but this really takes many pieces of cake. This is just really touching on many levels. It connects on a certain personal level I never really touched with The Fragile. And I'm very glad it's here.

I particularly like how you mentioned the boxes, since that would be pretty important in the hypothetical sequel (Paradise Belongs To You) which is becoming more and more feasible, partly thanks to this.

And again, thank you for this.

Lovegreenandred: Thanks. Glad you like it aww.gif .

CassidyCoyote: Thanks. It's like saying to someone who ordered fries "do you want fries with that?" XD LOL!

Dragonwing: Thank you. I was also trying to make a political statement through the different types of people that Rev and Adahla are. Rev being the local superhero for Acmetropolis is respected for doing good deeds with the rest of the team, meets Adahla who is a lowly and humble waitress who serves in a cafe in order to pay to go to university and try to achieve her dreams. Now a waitress wouldn't be respected as much as a superhero, but Rev gives her that bit of... something that makes her more determined to get that money to get to her dreams. Don't know what it is but he certainly has a way of lifting a person's face to make them smile. The political statement that I tried but probably failed to make was everyone is on the same journey as each other; trying to achive things for various reasons. Whether it's for the benefit of ourselves or other people,

To tell you the truth, I think we've began the mystery of what's inside the boxes. We don't even know ourselves what inside them XD ! And "Paradise belongs to you", I like the title. It sounds cool and relevant.

Xtreamcrazy: Poor Rev indeed. But there is a happy ending in Dragonwing's story aww.gif .
