Umm I think the TECHNICAL Terms has something to do with Christianity and a child's baptism or something

Buuuuut un-religiously it's BASICALLY like this:

Say, one of (or both of) your parents had a realllllly good friend while they were growing up, (or who they knew or something)

When your parent had you they could make that friend your "God-Parent" (mother or father)....(and no not like Cosmo and Wanda

)

It's kind of like a "fake" aunt or uncle for that matter.
Like If you know one of your parents friends who's always been there, they're kinda like your God-parent.

So you're not actually related, it's moooore you've been together for so long, you're like family.
