Chapter 3

Icy, Rev, and Tech walked out of a theatre laughing their heads off, for they had just come back from a comedy showing. They were on their way to join a street fair down by the bay and Rev babbled the entire way about the movie. “……and-then-that-guy-fell-into-the-canyon-holding-that-“YIPES!”-sign!-That-was-hillarious!!!”

“That was pretty funny.” Icy laughed.

Tech wined. “I feel bad for the guy…”

Rev and Icy glared mockingly at him as they chorused, “Party pooper!” Tech coaghed in embarrassment and sipped at his soda.

The three were dressed in casual clothes, for they didn’t want to stand out too much in the crowd. Icy smiled as she looked around at the city. “Nothing’s changed a bit!”

“That’s what you think!” Tech laughed.

“Yeah-these-building-have-been-broken-down-and-then-rebuilt-so-many-times-beacuase-of-the-villian-that-raid-us-it’s-not-even-funny.” The roadrunner giggled anyways though.

“I bet!” Icy took a lick at her ice cream but nearly dropped it as a little kid ran into her.

“Oops! Sorry miss!” The kid then ran off with his five other friends. “Look! I’m Rev Runner! See?! Look! Zoom!”

Another one of the kids played along. “I’m Ace! My eyes shoot red hot lasers! Zap! Zap! Let’s jet and get that alien!”

The three Loonatics laughed as each kid pretended to be one of the Loonatic members but they almost fell to the floor with laughter when the smallest kid wined, “Why do I have to be Duck?!”

Icy sniffed from laughing so hard but then felt a little bit of disappointment tug at her gut. Each one of the kids were acting like one of the six Loonatics……but none were acting like her. The fox shrugged it off and ran through the crowd with her two friends. There was a live rock band playing in the midst of the excitement and at the end of one of their song the singer pointed out to the crowd.

“Okay, now who wants to come up here and have a go at it!? Do we have any singers in the audience tonight?!”

Icy hesitated at raising her hand but before she could decided she felt herself yanked onto the stage in the blink of an eye. She glared at Rev as he zipped back into the audience next to Tech. The singer jumped when he saw her standing next to him. “Whoa! You got up here quick. I hope you can sing as good as you can run….”

Icy took the microphone. “Well you’ll just have to find out won’t ya?” The fox winked at the crowd. “Hey Acmetropolis! How you all doin tonight?!” There was a loud cheer from the crowd and Icy whispered into the guitar players ear what song she wanted. He nodded and then told it to the DJ. Soon Icy was singing to a punk song in front of a screaming crowd. The audience went into an uproar over the fox’s amazing voice. After three years of isolation with nothing and no one she could still sing her heart out. When Icy was done, Rev and Tech ran onto stage with her. Tech willingly took the mic and punched his fist out at the audience.

“This is Tech E. Coyote and Rev Runner from the Loonatics…” (this sent the crowd screaming louder than ever) “….and we would like to welcome back an old teammate, and our best friend, Icy Fox!”

The three bowed and left the band to another song. After that they went into the fair grounds to play games. Both Rev and Tech one plushies for Icy. Rev won a watermelon seed spitting contest, Tech won a water gun shooting game, and Icy won at a dunking Rev into a tank of water. Tech was laughing so hard that rev zipped him onto the tank seat and dunked him. The dripping coyote was not happy.

Finally, the end of the night drew near and the three friends sat at the edge of a dock to wait for the fireworks. Icy was on her tenth cone of ice cream by this point. “It’s been years! Three years since I last had ice cream!”

“It-must-had-been-lonely…” Rev said with deep sympathy.

Icy nodded and sighed. “Yeah………”

Tech and Rev exchanged frowns and then Tech pulled a something from hs pocket. “Here Icy.”

Icy took the item and then gasped. “It’s my necklace! You kept it!”

“Yeah-why-wouldn’t-we?!” Rev smirked.

Icy laughed as she put her necklace on. “You two are the best….” Just then the fireworks started. The three Loonatics sat at the very end of the dock with their feet hanging over the edge as they looked up at the exploding sky. The minute the fireworks ended, Icy suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head. A splitting headache throbbed in her skull and she griped it tight as she cried out, startling Tech and Rev.

“Icy?!”

“Ice? What’s wrong?!”

“I don’t know…” The fox hissed. Her voice was different. “It’s this headache!”

Tech put a hand on the fox’s shoulder. Her eyes suddenly shot open, glowing a shocking blue with rage, and she grabbed at his arm, flinging him over her shoulder and into the water.

Tech spluttered around. “Hey! That’s the second time today! “But as he said this a wave of water rushed over him, pushing him under water.

Icy sneered. “Stay down there!” Rev stood at the side completely dazed, his body not bearing to move as Icy froze the water before Tech could surface.

Once the message reached his brain he turned swiftly on Icy with a glare. “What-have-you—” But before he could finish the fox collapsed on the wooden dock unconscious. Rev panicked. He took off and a not even a second later returned with Ace dragged behind him.

Ace’s eyes rolled around in his head as he tried to recover from the sudden rush. “Rev? What’s up?”

“Tech-is-stuck-in-the-ice!” The frazzled roadrunner pointed down at the iced part of the ocean.

Ace didn’t waste a second. He aimed his heat vision at the ice, melting it instantly. Rev then dove into the water and disappeared beneath the surface. Ace waited anxiously then noted the unconscious fox lying sideways on the damp wood. Suspicion crept over the leader but his focus was lost as Rev broke the surface, dragging Tech’s head above the water. Ace helped him pull the coyote onto the dock and then Rev pulled himself up, completely out of breath.

Ace felt the coyote’s forehead and pulse. He was cold. Frost crusted his fur and clothes and his breathing came in shallow and raspy.

Ace shook his head as he looked down at the scientist. “Rev, what happened?” His voice was stone and stern.

Rev looked up. He couldn’t tell Ace it was Icy. She could get into serious trouble for what she did. But why did she do it. There was something seriously messed up about the whole thing. “I-don’t-know-I went-to-go-get-some-popcorn…”

Ace didn’t look convinced. There was no time for questions though. He pushed the communication button on his arm piece. “Lexi, get the other two and meet us at the bay….” The leader looked at the two unconscious bodies with dark eyes. “…something’s happened to Tech and Icy…”

Even Cassidy's flippin' out...

Cassidy: NO!!! NO NO NO NO! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE ONE OF MY BEST FREINDS HURT MY BOYFREIND! NO NO NO NO!!! *storms out of room, fuming mad* ..... *pokes head back into room* YOU! *points at Serenity* IT'S ALL LIEEESS!

Rev:.......0.0.... I haven't seen her this mad since Duck decided to switch her and Tech's uniforms as a joke....

Me: *is sobbing*

Cassidy: *pokes head into room and sees Icy running away* :'( Icy! Wait up! *runs after her* Ice.... I know how you feel... but don't worry, everything will be okay... *hugs her*

Danielle:.... *sniffles* Please, keep going.. Both me and Cassidy really want to know what happens next..... *blows nose*

*continues listening to "Gotta Go My Own Way"*

To the contrary! I find listening to sad music while writing something sad puts you into the write mood, thus increasing the quality of the scripture.

Writing a book while listening to sad music and reading a sad book while listening to sad music are two whole different things. I does agree its more mood when your writing but when your reading it's just sad that your sad. XD

*hands Danni a box of tissues*

Chapter 4

                Icy woke up the next morning with a pair of emerald eyes looking down at her anxiously. “You-okay?”

                “You’re talkin funny…” The fox grumbled, not fully awake yet.

                “She’s-okay…” Rev rolled his eyes.

                Icy held her head. “What happened?”

                Rev stared at her surprised. “You-mean-you-don’t-remember?” Icy shook her head. Time for a test. “What-was-the-last-thing-you-remember?”

                Icy sat up slowly and thought for a moment. “There was that terrible head-ache. And then I remember something grab my shoulder. But then everything went dark. Did I faint? I must be more fragile than I thought I was…” She looked around her and smiled when she saw she was in her old bedroom. It hadn’t been touched.

                “Yeah-you-did-kinda-faint-that’s-why-I’m-checkin-up-on-ya-but-you-need-you-rest-so-I’m-gonna-leave-now-BYE!” The roadrunner sprinted out of room but in the hall to think. Icy would never hurt him or Tech. But he knew Ace was suspicious. Maybe Icy could be helped.  He ran off, up a couple of flights, and into the lab where Tech was. Only he wasn’t working….

                The coyote lay on the on the hospital bed still unconscious. His condition was bad. His temperature was extremely high, yet he was constantly shivering. And on top of that his breathing was still bad. Rev starred at his friend solemnly. It was hard to imagine Icy had done this damage to him. The coyote stirred. “Rev, it’s cold in here….”

                Rev smiled a little. “Oh-you’re-awake?”

                “I am now…” The coyote grumbled then sat up. “How’s Icy?” He looked at the surprised expression on the roadrunner’s face and explained. “If she were alright she’d be in here with you.”

                Rev nodded. “She-fainted-right-after-freezing-you.-She-doesn’t remember a thing…”

                “I don’t blame her. That headache and then her voice….that wasn’t normal.”

                “Exactly-what-I-was-thinking.” Rev paused. “What-happened-to-her-those-three-years?”

                “Nothing.” Tech replied simply. “You know your old 2000 stamp collection?”

                “I-was-ten…” Rev retorted defensively.

                “That’s not where I’m going. What did you do with those stamps?”

                Rev thought a moment. “Uh-I-collected-them-then-pasted-them-in-a-folder…”

                “Exactly! Icy said this psycho collects living beings. She was on preserve. To look at. Like a museum or a zoo. For three years…”

                Rev felt his stomach tighten but it went away when the sound of the mechanic door sounded from the other side of the lab. Rev turned his GPS on. “It’s-Icy.”

                Tech, despite his condition, got up and moved over to a desk, pretending to work on something. Rev caught his drift and rushed to a computer. Icy walked into view. She stretched and yawned. “Morning!”

                “Afternoon.” Tech corrected without turning around. “You were out  for  a while.”

                Icy tilted her head into her hand and frowned. “Yeah, I’m not feeling too good.”

                Rev looked over at Tech. The coyote was making sure his back was to Icy so that she didn’t know he wasn’t feeling well. Rev then got up and patted the fox’s shoulder. “Well Tech’s got a lot to do so why don’t you go upstairs and get us some ice cream pretty please?”

Icy laughed and left the lab while Rev innocently waved her goodbye with an idiotic grin. When the door whooshed close he let out a sigh of relief. Turning to Tech he could see that the coyote wasn’t faking working on something anymore. He was actually bringing up some files on his computer and scrolling through them. Rev shook his head. “Oh-no-you-don’t-Mr. Coyote-Get-back-in-bed…”
“Something about Icy’s voice last night sounded weird…” Was the only response. Tech kept tapping away without looking at Rev. “It almost sounded like she had two voices speaking at once. And that headache she keeps complaining about……”
Duck’s voice suddenly buzzed through the speakers. “All hands on deck! We have a mission!”
Rev looked at the coyote but was silenced when he waved his hand toward the door. “You go ahead. I’m gonna look into something.”
Rev shrugged with a little concern and then sped out.The Loonatics, minus one and added one, were standing in front of a large screen looking at an elder man wearing a suit and holding a cane, giving him a very sophiticated look. Ace grinned at him. “So what’s up doc?”
“My name is Mr. Jacob Herald. I have a slight problem that I would like you Loonatics to dispose of. Just a couple of hours ago a cat-burglar somehow managed to get past my security system and take off with a very valuable ancient artifact.”
“You want us to go after a common burglar? For a nik-nak?” Duck raised his eyebrow.
Mr. Herald furrowed his brow. “This burglar was a giant Lizard and the nick-nak was a red stone that was found over 10,000 years ago on Old Earth.”
“Eh, I’d say that’s pretty important.” Ace said casually. “We’ll be there in a little bit, doc.”
The man suddenly got an embarrassed look across his face as a bell rang. “Um, it would probably be best to come over first thing tomorrow.”
Duck pointed an accusing finger. “Aha! Got something to hide Mister?!”
Mr. Herald gingerly turned the screen so that it showed a butler greeting some guests into the mansion. “No. I am hosting a party with our city’s mayor as the guest of honor. I don’t want to cause a riot.”
Ace politely pulled Duck away from the screen by his shoulder and looked up apologetically to Mr. Herald. “Gotchya! We’ll be there first thing in the morning sir.”
The minute the screen turned off Icy flicked Duck over the head.
“OW! What?!”
Ace raised his palms up. “Okay, okay guys. Just get some rest and we’ll start the investigation tomorrow. Icy, I’d would like you to come along for this one. Stretch a little.”
Icy gave him a thumbs up and winked. “You got it chief!”
Rev yawned and looked at the time on his arm piece. “Oh-boy-I-haven’t-eaten-in-three-hours.-I’m-just-gonna-go-make-myself-a-protein-shake-and-then-it’s-off-to-bed.-Slam?!-You-want-a-couple?!” Rev called across the room to where Slam was playing some video games.The Tasmanian Devil turned the play station off and followed Rev into the kitchen. “Reah!”
Duck and Lexi left the room but Ace lagged behind. He looked around the room at the mess they had left for the day and sighed. When was Tech gonna make a cleaning-bot?  But of course Ace could easily here the coyote respond with something like ‘do your own chores for once and I won’t have to’. As Ace started picking up some of Duck and Lexi’s magazines off the ground he felt a painful blow to the back, knocking him flat on his face. He groaned and turned on his back to look at his attacker. Ace gasped.
“Icy?!”
The fox came at him with her fists clenched and swung at him. Ace rolled over and Icy’s fist hit the ground hard, but she didn’t seem to flinch. Ace quickly got up and had to dodge as she took another swing at him. The bunny lost his balance over a stray bean-bag-chair and fell to the ground again. Icy grabbed him by his top and lifted him up so that he was pinned against the large window. Ace was in shock as her eye’s and fists glew a cold blue. She meant it.An electric light surrounded Icy and her fur raised on end as she collapsed to the floor, unconscious.
Ace looked at her shocked and then to the person who had shot electricity at her. Rev and Slam ran into the room to see what was going on.
A little yellow canary dressed in purple and blue inspected Icy’s face and then looked up at Ace. “ Mr. Bunny, is this a bad time?” Tweetum’s asked inoccently.
Rev looked down at the fallen figure. This was a very bad time…
