These are the fictional fantasy lands that appear in my fractured fairy tale 'Prince of Dreams' granted the list isn't complete yet but I wanted to show you anyway.
FAIRY TALE LAND. Ah Fairy Tale Land! Sweet, innocent, religiously intolerant Fairy Tale Land. Fairy Tale Land as it appears in Prince of Dreams appears to be a mix of the ubiquitous Disney Kingdom as seen in Snow White and Cinderella but also a dash of the cheap girly cartoons of the 80s that were used to sell equally girly toys most notably Lady Lovely Locks (which I’m you never even heard of). Fairy Tale Land resemble medieval Europe in general and Germany in particular (As it seems most influenced by the Grimm Brother’s not the sweeter and more beautiful tales by Hans Christen Anderson) The people of Fairy Tale Land while beautiful and lawful are in short racist, sexist, homophobic and xenophobic as they have no knowledge of the lands outside their own and if they did they would be extremely hostile to them even though the majority of them are much more technologically advanced and could kill the Fairy Tale People without a second thought. They have an unhealthy obsession with beauty even going so far as to practice a primitive form of Eugenics. Therefore beautiful people can only breed with other beautiful people, and ugly people are only allowed to breed with people as ugly as they are (Apparently no one believes in inner beauty or that beauty is in the eye of the beholder) Society has come up with a standard of beauty that no one can possibly live up to. Like Nazis the prefer blond hair and blue eyes other all other hair or eye colors. Rich nobles who lack the blond, blue eyed genes are frequently encouraged to marry blond, blue eyed people to pass on these traits to their offspring. Beyond the demand for Aryan traits they also nit pick the smallest details. Noses must be small and delicate especially if you are a woman. If your nose isn’t exactly as small and delicate as society demands DING! You’re ugly! If you have a mole or a freckle or any form of birthmark on your body DING! You’re ugly! Also even though this is a clearly medieval world it seems to have 20th century ideals of beauty back in Ye Olden days plumpness was not frowned on and was even considered beautiful as it was a sign of wealth (only the sick and poor were thin) Most common people could not afford to be morbidly obese since most were doing back breaking labor. While other Lands like Dream Land and Nightmare Land have there own made up religions that don’t have anything to do with any religion of the real world (Dream Land itself has countless Gods) Fairy Tale Land is defiantly Christian (Though which ‘version’ of Christianity is kind of vague at times it seems equal parts Catholic and Protestant as well as numerous other ‘segments’ of Christianity) in closing, You don’t want to visit Fairy Tale Land for vacation!
DREAM LAND Dream Land is one of the first Lands of Imagination. It is the place where good dreams are made. Understandably they have a sort of running rivalry with Nightmare Land. In Dream Land everyone human, animal, plant and object has a dream, an aspiration. Some want to be a great artist, others want to a scientist still others want win the marathon. Never is this dream about finding a spouse and getting married, no everyone in Dream Land puts their career first. If you have no goals in life people will consider you retard. The most exciting time in Dream Land is nighttime because that’s when the ‘tourists’ arrive. The tourists are the astral projection of sleeping people from the real world. When people go to bed at night, their slumbering minds enter the Dream dimension. If they go to Dream Land they will have a good dream. If they go to Nightmare Land...well you get the idea. For the most part humans and humanoid people like trolls and dwarves live rather well, but there is one group that is subjugated the animals. All animals talk and are sapient in Dream Land and that is because one of our fondest dreams is to be able to talk to animals (especially if you are a child) But here is a note of irony even if you want to talk to your dog you don’t necessarily want to give him the right to vote. So there is the paradox. Animals act like people because we want them to but are treated like animals because that’s what we expect of them. Even though the animals act like people they look exactly like animals. (Not walking upright, wear no clothes etc.) This can probably tell us that whenever the story of “Prince of Dreams” took place it was most likely before the furry fandom as an anthropomorphic animal would not be considered sexy but horrific and would be classified as a Were (as in werewolf werecat etc.) And would therefore live in Nightmare Land. On another note if said animal was a funny animal (Like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck etc.) He or she would live in Comic Book Land because comic books are the primary medium for such characters. The only talking animals in Fairy Tale Land are either enchanted people and possessed animals. In the logic of the story. We go the Dream Land every time we sleep, and given the alternative it’s somewhat preferred.
NIGHTMARE LAND Nightmare Land is the complete opposite of Dream Land. Where Dream Land contains everything that is beautiful in the world, Nightmare Land contains all that is ugly. The population of this land contains vampires, zombies, werewolves (as well as other were creatures from world mythologies from werecats to werereptiles), mummies, skeletons and all sorts of one of a kind ghoulies and spooks. Just as in Dream Land, The people of Nightmare Land have dreams but everyone has the exact same Dream. To win the title of The Most Frightening in the Land. Whoever can scare the most ‘tourists’ into permanent insomnia over the course of 10 years and a day will be dubbed the most frightening in the land. After he or she wins this title they will be reborn (more like magically recycled) and will be reborn as a human being to learn what it means to be human. One of the unpleasant things about the people of this land is their diet. Foodstuffs native to Nightmare Land would make most of us puke. Hometown favorites like rat gut on a stick washed down with cup of goat’s blood is tasty to them but icky to us. But to be honest the ghouls and spooks are merely making do with the things they have. No there is something they hunger for more than any snake and spider stew, and that is for the flesh of the most beautiful creatures that live in Dream Land These delicacies include damsels in distress, human infants, puppies, kittens, bunnies, ducks, Olympic athletes, reticulated chipmunks I could go on and on. Of coarse due to treaties with Dream Land they can’t go hunting in Dream Land and are forbidden to eat any creature on Dream Land soil. But they have ways of luring the ‘fuzzie wuzzies’ as they call them into Nightmare Land. One way is to invite a Dream Land a Dream Land damsel to sing in Nightmare Land hoping her beautiful voice will attract fuzzy woodland creatures like Sirens lured sailors to their doom. Once the maiden has lured of big enough crowd the vampires, zombies and other hellspawn pounce on poor animals and go through them like cookie monster on a bag of cookies. Normally the damsel is spared because she ‘paid’ for dinner but she normally demands twice the amount the ghouls offered partly to buy a new dress (as her current on is blood splattered) and for years of therapy after seeing such carnage.
