LOL! OMG! My aunt mimi sent me an e-mail telling me about why she moved away from Alaska back to California and I just thought it was too funny not to share. She really does have a good sense of humor. ^^
Here are the top ten reasons why we ended up coming back to Cali:
1) Living in the dark and cold for 20 hours a day for 4 months and most of that indoors would turn me into a gun toting, moose eating, winking like I have some sort of nervous tick mess. (Sound familiar)
2) Men's deodorant in Alaska smells a lot like fish
3) The road kill list, (being next on the list to pick up fresh dead moose meat off the road) killed my appetite
4) When the first snow came they called it "termination dust".Enough said.
5) People mowing their lawns at midnight in the summer is just weird.
6) Dating men in Alaska means you have to think the dead animals on his wall are sexy.
7) Driving by a church on Sunday looked like a re-run of Little House on The Prairie (trust me, they don't dress like Sarah Palin on the campaign trail up in them there parts)
8) The art scene consisted of folk art and more folk art and a little bit of homemade crafts
9) I almost overdosed on excessive flannel exposure
10) No Chargers!

How in smeg is California boring? There's more to do in the San Diego/Los Angeles area than there is to do in any one place in the entire world. You could go skiing, hit the beach, go hiking, go shopping, go to four different theme parks, meet a movie star, visit a world class zoo and visit 3 baseball parks and two basketball stadiums without EVER leaving the area. There's a reason why property values are so high over there - everyone wants to BE there.
And having lived in Houston all my life, California (unless you're in the eastern deserty part) is NEVER hot, comparatively speaking.
If you have the money to do all that stuff. San Diego is only fun if your even a little wealthy for it. But a good precentage of the community are people stuck in suburbs where its hard to do anything BECAUSE property values are high. We've lived in the same apartment for eight years now and waiting for prices to go down before we move into a house. It's a nice vacation spot! Don't get me wrong! That much I know. But to LIVE here blows.

Well technically not all of those things even cost money, or might require a parking fee that amounts to 7 bucks. I see your point with the theme parks and stuff, but overall it's simply a much nicer area (San Diego at least) than most parts of the country. And in the areas where property values are dirt cheap, kind of like here in Houston, there's also NOTHING TO DO NOR SEE.
True! We do have the advantage of a free beach and hiking and all that free stuff. But we also need the TIME and money to prepare for it to do that, and with my parents tight budget that dosn't happen often. And a lot of the attractions here are theme parks. We have San Diego oo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Disney Land, Knotts, Flaggs, and all that jazz. If we livedin another state where it's not so pricey not only would we be able to live in our own house but we would have the money to take vacations and do a lot more fun stuff then usual.

This is starting to sound like a "grass-is-always-greener" complex that it seems everyone has - that is, everyone thinks that their city of residence sucks. I'm guilty of it as well.
LOL! You're right! I gues people just get bored of it after a while. But I never seem to get tired of Santee, no matter how hot it gets. I love the town I live in. The best one in San Diego. ^^
