Mr. Boswell chuckled. "Don't worry. I may not be able to ride, but I'm not completely useless. I'll get them for you."

And so, Ace, Lexi, Rev, Tech, Duck, Slam, and Cassidy led their horses in from the feild. Rev, being a roadrunner, and Rusty, being a high-strung Thoroughbred, practically raced the others to the barn.

"Rev?!"

Rev turned around in shock. "Rachelle?!"

Rachelle giggled and ran up to the roadrunner and nearly knocked him over in a hug. "It's been so long! I've missed you!"

Rev glanced over his shoulder to see Icy following the others towards the barn. He gulped.

"Me too..."

Duck saw this tender moment and grinned evilly. "I could totally cause some major conflict on this trip-" His thoughts were cut short by Slam slapping the back of his head.

"Yurah drububalee not nice." He growled.

Icy literally froze in her tracks when she saw another girl hugging HER guy. She folded her arms. "Rev!"

Rachelle spotted her and let go of Rev, smiling. "You must be Icy! It's so nice to meet you! Rev's told me so much about you!"

Icy tried her best to smile. "I wish I could say the same for you..." She glanced at Rev and glared.

Rev smiled innocently and gulped.

Sapphire gulped uneasily. She had heard stories, and this must be Rachelle. "Oh brother...." she mumbled before catching pace with the others.

Quick giggled...rather evily...at her teammates predicament.
"Let's see that Runner talk his way outta this one." she whispered silently to herself.

Sapphire turned to Quick having heard the last part, "I seeee Quick." She laughed amd cought Quick's eye again who giggled.

Cassidy cleared her throat, holding Phantom's lead in her hands, as Sapph was holding Cale. "Maybe we should leave them alone for a moment." She lead Phantom and Sapph and Quick down one of the stable's many aisles, picking a spot to cross tie the mare.

Meanwhile, Rev spent several heart pounding, head spinning moments glancing from Icy to Rachelle and back to Icy again.

"Rachelle! What are you doing in here?" Mr. Boswell's voice snapped them back to reality. He didn't sound too pleased.

"Oh, Mr. Boswell, sir... I was just...." Rachelle tried to explain.

"I believe I do not have to repeat myself.... right?"

"Yes, sir..." Rachelle ran off.

Rev faced Mr. Boswell. "What did you do that for?"

"I can't trust her right now. Because she might be one of them..."

"The wranglers?" Ace asked. "Why?"

"Yes, because her father is."

Sapphire followed Cassidy meekly since she had no flipping clue how to move around the ranch. "Cass, can you help me?" she said softly, still holding Cale.

Duck chuckled, having followed the group of girls so he could tack up Shadow. "you'll need more than Cass to help YOU!"

Seth lifted himself on one of the ranches fences and gave Duck a glare.
"Oh, shut it Duck." he growled.

Duck glared at Saph. "Nothing that concerns you." He then turned to Seth. "I recommend a certian horse named Msity. I for one don't need help from anybody! Danger Duck is the Master of Independence! The Ruler of Self-Sufficiency! The Lord of-" Suddenly, Shadow broke into a short trot, jerking Duck forward and sending him sprawling to the ground...

Duck shot Seth a glare, picking himself up off the stable floor and brushing the straw from his suit.

"I don't have to answer to anyone whose ancestors scratched fleas and sniffed other dog's butts." Duck replied airily, walking past Seth and reclaiming his cheeky stalion.

Duck felt someone walk up behind him and he flinched, ducking his head down. He heard a grumbling laugh behind him and turned around sharply. "Slam! Don't do that man! I thought you were the Queen of when hell froze over!"

Slam shrugged as he gulped down a bottle of carbinate water, burping and strolling back off.

Meanwhile Icy stood there next to Rev in awkward silence. Rev opened his mouth to seak but Icy held a hand up. "You try to explain yourself it'll will just make you seem worse...It's fine. Hugging isn't a big whoop..."

Rev rubbed the back of his neck. "Well I'm not gonna lie to ya so I will tell you I used to date her."

Icy turned and smiled at him, her sharp canine teeth showing and her eyes a sharp blue. It was meant to be a sweet smile.....well, actually with Icy you couldn't tell. "Past behind us right? Come on. I need ice cream and pronto. I already feel myslef turning into a puddle...."

Rev smiled happily at her response. "You know, i don't think we really have time for icecream but if you want I can grab you some really quickly to eat on the trail but if you're getting too hot you can always hold back I don't think anyone would think any less of you or anything I mean I sure wouldn't-"

Icy held up a hand again and sighed. "Just... Show me the stables..."

Cassidy rolled her eyes at the boys and led Sapph and Quick away after she had cross-tied Phantom. "Mrs. Boswell?" She called out.

"Yes?!" A freindly voice called out from on of the empty stalls. A short, plump, cheery-looking older woman walked out of the stall, water bucket in hand. When she spotted Cassidy and the girls, she smiled. "Ah, Cassidy! It's so nice to see you and your freinds again!" She froze when she saw Cale. "You have a baby?!" She gasped. "She's adorable!"

Cassidy smiled back. "Hi Mrs. Boswell. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind to watch Cale for me just while we're on this mission."

"Not at all!" Mrs. Boswell insisted, scooping little Cale into her arms. Cale giggledm she liked this lady already.

"Thank you. And, my two freinds here, Sapphire, and Quick, are wondering if you could recommend some horses for them. They are very nervous around horses, tho."

Mrs. Boswell smiled warmly at the two girls. "It's very nice to meet you. And you're complete beginners, huh? Well, don't worry, we have some old steady lesson horses around here somewhere!"

"Hello Mrs Boswell," Sapphire smiled shyly extanding a hand to the elderly woman. She shook both their hands and led the three girls into the stall.

"So both of you are beginners hmm?" she addressed both Sapphire and Quick. Quick nodded but Sapphire said, "Well, not really. I use to ride when I was younger, but I stopped when my parents died," she said slowly.

Mrs Boswell gave her a symphatetic nod and patted her on the arm while still leading them through the half empty stalls. At the edge of the first stall a faint sound reached their ears, and Sapphire's eyes widened in awe.

In two stalls next to each other were 2 horses, both with their heads out of their stables as if patiently waiting for something. The one on the right cought Sapphire's eye, it was a light cream color and it contrasted sharply with its black mane. Its eyes were a light shade of brown, almost hazel, and seemed to be examining them with curiosity.

Momentarily forgetting the others, Sapphire approached the horse and held her hand out, slightly nervous to touch the sturdy horse. The young mare suddenly leaned out further from the stable and allowed Sapphire to feel her silky muzzle.

Now that they were in point range, Sapphire saw that the horse wasn't very big and yet, she wsn't too small either. In a cliched term, she ws just right.

"Ahh, seems like Twilight has taken a liking to you Sapphire," Mrs Boswell chuckled.

(The horse in my post is actually a tribute to a horse that I rode last time XD. She was taken from somewhere and at that time she had a sort of 'attitude' prob. Nobody knows why, but she always listened to me and didn't let anyone else ride her..... I really miss her DX)

Cassidy smiled as she watched Mrs. Boswell lead Sapph and Quick away, then turned back to Phantom. After several minutes, she was all tacked up and ready to go. Being the first one ready, she lead Phantom out to the large sand ring. She wanted to test something. Right outside the ring, she hopped up on Phantom, then pointed her towards the gate and nudged her forward. The gold and white mare didn't even flinch as they slowly trotted into the ring. Cassidy hugged her neck. "Good girl!" They did some trotting and walking to warm up while waiting for the others.

"Just couldn't wait to ride, could ya?"

Cassidy and Phantom turned around to see Tech on Lucky just outside the ring. Cassidy giggled as they trotted over to the fence. "I just wanted to make sure all my hard work with this girl didn't go to waste."

Tech nodded. "Doesn't seem like it."

Cassidy gazed at him softly. "You look cute in a cowboy hat..."

Tech chuckled, shaking his head. "I was wearing one the last time we were here, and you didn't comment about it."

"I was young and shy then, I've changed..." She leaned forward and kissed him.

At that time Sapphire came out from the stable, leading Twilight carefully beside her. She caught sight of the scene in front of her and smiled before deciding to not bother them.

Sadly, being the cluts she is, she tripped on something odd on the ground and fell with a loud 'thump'.

Hearing the loud thump, they quickly broke apart, faces red in embarassment. Cassidy quickly hopped off of Phantom and ran to help Sapphire to her feet. "You okay?" She asked.

"Nothing but my pride," she replied off handedly brushing some dirt of her shirt. Twilight nuzzled her back and she laughed.

"She's asking if you're alright," Cassidy smiled. She looked down and saw the thing that Sapphire tripped on and blinked in confusion. "What the heck is this?"

Cassidy went to pick the small metal object up, but it was stuck in the hard ground, probably burried and trampled into the ground by the dozens and dozens of horses at the ranch. She unburried it. "It's.. a really old-style gun.."

Tech hopped off of Lucky to come and investigate. "You're right, this style handgun was used mainly in the twenty first century." As Tech continued to inspect it, Cassidy help Sapph get up on Twilight.

"Here, hold the reins like this.." Cassidy showed her how to hold the reins with one hand, directing the horse by laying the rein on the neck. They would most likely need a free hand during the mission.

Seth walked in casually on the them with a smile plastered on his face. He liked horses, he remembered riding a pony at the fair once. He approached Cassidy and asked;
"So, where do I get myself a horse?"

Cassidy smiled back at Seth. "You can choose just about any of the horses in the barn... Um.. Mrs. Boswell can find you the right one, you can ask her. She has Cale right now, so you can't miss her."

Seth nodded in thanks and went in search of Mrs. Boswell. He evenetually found her on the porch holding a sleeping Cale.
"Mrs. Boswell? I'm Seth, Cassidy's friend and Quick's husband. Do you mind if I hitch myself a horse?"
The plump lady smiled and nodded.
"Course you can, dear. I'll help you choose one."
The two walked to the stables as Cale tottered after them with reins that Mrs. Boswell asked her to retrieve.

Seth swallowed nervously and pulled at the color of his t-shirt. The horses were rather large, much bigger than the pony he rode all those years ago. He swore one of them gave him a death glare. He found one staring at him with big dark brown eyes. He didn't kniw why, but he was found of it.
"That one." he said, pointing towards the horse.
The old woman smiled.
"You mean Nez? She's a newbie here, just got her last weekend. Pretty little thing, aint she?"
The alchemist only nodded.
Mrs. Boswell opened the stall doors and pulled out the horses slowly. Nez let out a ney and trotted out of the stable with the kind old woman leading her. Seth noticed Nez a blobs all over her, whites and browns and blacks. It was as if somone had painted her.
"What breed is she?" he asked as Mrs. Boswell got Nez ready.
"Appaloosa." she answered as she fastened the sattle.
She gave him a helmet and handed him the reins.
"You SURE you want t do this."
He laughed.
"I love horses...I guess." and with that, he heaved himself onto the a Appaloosa and Mrs. Boswell opened a gate to one of the small fenced areas.
"Have fun."

The gate that Mrs Boswell opened happened to be the same area where Cassidy was guiding Sapphire on her horse. "Remember, don't tap her to hard, she might get spooked," Cass was saying.

Sapphire nodded, and carefully guided Twilight around the area. They reached the end of the track and Sapphire held on to the reins with one hand keeping balance while patting Twilight's neck with the other. Deciding she remembered how to do it again, she tapped Twilight slightly harder with her heels as the mare went into a trot.

She passed the gate where Seth just entered and exchange a quick grin with the alchemist as she lead Twilight on a warm up run.

(Wait, I thought Quick and Seth weren't married yet?)

After several minutes, everyone had their horses ready and warmed up. Ben came out on the black stallion with a broad stripe on his nose, Falcon.

Ace gathered the gang together. "Alright gang, when we get to the meadow, we're gonna split up. Tech, take Rev, Icy, and Cassidy and go north. Seth, take Slam, Quick, Ben, and Sapphire with you and go east. I'll take Lexi, Duck, and Agent Dasyurus a go south. That way, as long as everyone sticks together, nobody should get lost. Got it?"

"Cheif? I have one last thing for everyone." Tech said.

Ace nodded. "Kay, go ahead."

Tech fished through his pockets and tossed each of them a small ring like object. "Push the button in the center."

So Ace did, and a large, transparent sheild was projected from it, in front of Thunder's face and covering Ace's body, as well.

"These transparent sheilds will protect you from just about anything. I was thinking of not using them, but when Cassidy and Sapphire stumbled upon this.." He took the old handgun out of his pocket. "I thought it'd be best not to take the risk, especially with the horses."

Icy rolled her eyes as she mounted a black and white painted Stallion named
Domino. "My kingdom for a normal day..." She looked down at the suit she had on that made her look as transperrant as ice. "And one day without this flippin ice suit! Seriously! I won't even be able to enjoy roasting S'mores!"

A furry brown nose poked it's way out of the saddle pouch. "Somebody say S'mores?!" Ozzie grinned hopefully.

Icy gasped and pushed him back in. "Sssh! I wasn't supposed to bring ya! Ace will be steamed...."

(Sneaky little Icy.. XD)

Cassidy caught a glimps of the ferret out of the corner of her eye. Knowing how Ace would react if he found out, she seemed to not notice.

Quick squirmed nervously in the saddle. The horse she was riding was a red chestnut gelding named Pocco. He was a bit tall, but so far he had been very quiet. She carefully nudged him forward after Seth and his horse. Pocco's one ear flopped backwards lazily before he began walking at a suprisingly slow speed.

Quick, experienced a moment that was very unlike herself.
She hoped and prayed that Pocco wouldnt go any faster. He seemed tame enough, she had to admit.....buuuuut, still. She hoped.

"Oh por favor, querido Dios ....." she whispered silenty gripping the reins tight in her fists "DON'T Let this horse gallop." she looked up in the sky for a second, as if she was really asking.

(aww poor Quicke 83 she's terrified a little XD.
oh BTW Andrea Seth and Quick can't be married yet, cuz Cale's just born, and Qint wouldn't be there and all that other complicated stuff.
We'll go with BF & GF for now ^-^)

Sapphire smiled cheekily when she heard the small voice, having been standing opposite Icy. She cliked her tongue and tapped Twilight lightly making her move forwards following between Quick and Ben.

Ben glanced sideways and said, "You seem to have no trouble with her.“ Sapphire looked at him quizzically, "Am I s'posed to have trouble with her?"

No, its just, like Nez, she’s a newbie here too. Didn’t let anyone ride her in fact,” he said throwing a glance at Seth. “Mrs Boswell told me about it and told me to watch out in case she tried some funny business.”

Sapphire shrugged and patted Twilight’s neck, “I don’t think you’re gonna try anything, huh girl?” Almost as if to answer her, Twilight flicked her tail up innocently.

Cassidy noticed the look of sheer terror on Quick's face. She leaned sideways and set her hand on her terrified freind's arm. "Quick... just relax, okay?" She spoke soothingly. "Pocco won't hurt you... None of these horses will."

"Yeah Quick," Sapphire. "Besides, I think Pocco's a sweety," she tipped dangerously sideways and patted Pocco's mane.

Icy called over from a few yards away as she waved. "Hey! Quick! Watch this!" With that the fox kicked the sides of her horse and it took off at full speed. "HA!" she kicked again and brought the reigns around so that they tugged the horse to the left. The painted then galloped in a series of circles before Icy tugged hard and it reered up on it's hind legs, kicking it front hooves in the air and whinneying. Icy took off her cow printed ten gallon hat and waved it in the air. "YAHOO!!! How's THAT for a cliche! XD"

Ozzie limbly stuck his head out with one arms hanging down and the other up to his mouth. "URP....I'm gonna be sick..."

Quick gasped in horror, "Don't worry," they'll only do THAT if we ask them too," she let out a shaky laugh. There was a feeling at the pit of her tummy, something she felt before which made he squirm uncomfortably. Something's gonna happen, she was sure about that.

Even as she taught of that, a chilly breeze suddenly picked up.

Cassidy eyed a nearby tree trunk that had collapsed, and she could tell Phantom was, too. After several minutes, Cassidy gently squeezed the mare's sides. Phantom burst into a fast canter, aiming for the log dead on. Four, three, two, one, up! Phantom quickly tucked her legs underneath her and she and Cass went soaring over the log gracefully, and landing just as gracefully on the other side.

As they came back to the others at a quick trot, Cassidy dropped the reins and hugged the mare tightly.

"Right team, I guess we should be going," Ace said with a slight squeeze on Thunder's side.

"Wait," Mrs Boswell suddenly appeared from around the corner holding Cale. "I think your little girl wants to say goodbye," she elderly woman smiled warmly.

Cassidy leaned forward out of the saddle and scooped her baby in her arms. "See you later, Rosebud. Be good." She gave Cale a kiss on the forehead.

Tech held his arms out as Cassidy passed Cale to him. He gave his little daughter a cuddle and kiss as well. "We'll be back soon, Princess." Tech handed Cale back to Mrs. Boswell.

Mrs Boswell looked up at Sapphire at smiled, some people could easily show their emotions through their eyes and too easily read by others. Sapphire just happened to be one of them.

She handed the little girl to her and Sapphire kissed gave her a quick kiss on her forehead. "Try not to give Mrs Boswell a hard time will you princess?" she giggled before passing her back to Mrs Boswell.

Seth lead his team east and occasionally looked back to see if Quick was okay. He sighed and dusted off some dirt on his jeans, he had no idea what would happen if Quick got hurt. Not to mention he was freakin' scared of Nez, she was a newbie and all.
"Everything okay guys?" he asked his team behind him.

As Tech, Rev, Icy and Cassidy began riding their horses towards the north end of the forest. Phantom pranced and danced, wanting to run. Cassidy stroked her mane, talking slowly. "Take it easy, girl... not yet.."

Rev rode up beside Icy. You know you have to be the biggest show off next to Duck."

Icy smiked as she gave him a side glance. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Rev looked down at his horse with a twinkle in his eyes. "....I bet my horse is faster then your."

"Oho! So you think because your a total speed demon your horse is going to be too huh?!"

"Basically."

"I smell a challenge."

Icy and Rev were about to kick their horse's sides to go but then they heard a ahem and turned to see Tech glaring at them sternly with his arms crssed.

Rev and Icy slouched in annoyance as they spoke in unision. "Maybe later...."

Ozzie was heard from inside the pack. "Thanks Tech!"
