As Mairi and Ozzie sat with the Boswells and Ben, waiting for them to awaken, watching Cale play gleefully in the hay, Mairi sighed, still gazing straight ahead.

"Ozzie... Do you think I'm spazzy?"

Ozzie turned and stared at Mairi from his seat on Ben's knee. The lyrebird was pouting... If that were at all possible with her beak and everything.

"Well... You can get a bit... 'over-excited' something..." He answered, putting 'over-excited' between inverted commas. "Why? What made you ask?"

"I don't know. I just got a felling that someone thinks I'm spazzy." After a short pause, she turned and looked at the ferret, her expression very solemn. She then spoke in a serene and even voice. "Ozzie. I'm going to squish you now. For comfort. You understand, don't you?"

Ozzie sighed. "I wouldn't expect any less." And with that, Mairi ripped him from his seated position and smothered him against her bosom.

(XD WIN! WIN RIGHT THAR!)

Tech sighed as he sunk to the ground, relief flooding through his body as he was finally able to rest. Cassidy snuggled up beside him, aslo relieved that she could lay down. "Come here, Dreamer. It's time to rest."

The little colt skittered over to them and layed down beside Cassidy. Cassidy nuzzled him gently, making sure there were no injuries from the wranglers. After a few minutes, Dreamer and Cassidy were both fast asleep. Tech stayed awake for a bit longer, keeping an eye out for danger, but soon, he too became drowsy and drifted off into sleep.

After a few more minutes, Mairi released her breath-taking grip to a comfortable snuggle. Not too long after, Cale wandered over, yawning lazily.

"Mary," She began, rubbing her eyes with the back of her chubby little wrist. "I tire."

Mairi scooped the child up, her back leant against the stall's wall, and cradled Ozzie in one arm and Cale in the other.

"Mazz..." Ozzie began, thinking hard. "How did you get here? I mean, you didn't come with us... And weren't anywhere near those wranglers when we were fighting them off..."

The lyrebird giggled. "There's a bus that comes through here every four hours. I hopped a ride with one after I finished my shift at Beetle House. And when I came... Well, there were these guys scratching about the place. And of course, I asked where the Loonatics were staying. Then they grabbed at me and... Huh... I guess they took me to their leader." She grinned to herself.

"Oh." Was all Ozzie managed, scratching his chin.

"I'm hungry." She added distantly. The ferret rolled his eyes.

"Have some hay."

Sapphire rested her head against one of her friends. It had been an extremely long day, and she was one fight away from falling into a coma.

She didn't know who she was leaning against, but the second she closed her eyes she drifted of to sleep.

Duck scoffed a little. "Can someone scrape it offa me?" Lexi, in turn, flicked her tail in his face, warning him to shut it.

The agent lay down, exhausted from all the running. What a life these Loonatics led. Ace looked over at her in concern. "Eh, you ok?"

"I'll be fine." She sighed, looking at who she was laying against. A large clydesdale looked back at her and smiled nervously. The agent blinked before turning and facing Ace. "I just need to rest..."

Cale started to cry a little more. "Mumy an Dady?" She asked again, not liking how long she'd been away from her parents.

Mairi looked at the girl sadly. She new what it was like to be physically separated from her parents. With that, she whipped out her cell phone, and began to scan through some of the photos.

"Here Cale, see? Your Mummy and Daddy are still with us. I carry them around with me always. And you can carry them too." She then handed Cale the phone, upon which was a photo of Cassidy and Tech, hugging one another and gazing into each other's eyes happily.

Cale stared wide eyed at the phone screen. "Mumy! Dady!!!" She squealed. However, when the picture of Cassidy and Tech didn't react to her call, she became confused. Why didn't they come to her? Why wouldn't they pick her up and hug her, talking to her like they always did? Cale pouted. Why were they just standing there?

(XD She doesn't understand the concept of cell phones yet)

Mairi smiled. "It's not really them. It's a picture of them. Like when you draw pictures. Except this picture was taken from real life. And they don't talk. They just smile." She then held Cale close, and in an exact replica of Cassidy's voice, began to softly sing.

Sapphire woke up, she thought she had just heard her name being called. She blinked against the darkness and cought a figure of a tall person, holding a small bundle.

Mazz and Cale....

She was on her feet in an instant, running towards them. Mazz looked at her, waving and calling her towards them. She ran, not wanting to let them out of her sight.

However, with every step she took, it seemed as if they kept going back, lingering out of her reach. She felt bile rising up in her throat as she fought the tears from spilling out. "Mazz.... CALE!!!!" she shrieked, as they two figures vanished in a puff of smoke.

She felt blood pump in her ears as the road turned into a hospital corridor, she was a little girl again, crying to see her daddy. A doctor stepped out from the shadows and grabbed her as he morphed into a wrangler, grinning wickedly at her.

She bit down on his arm and ran down the glass corridors that seemingly appeared. A flash of light, a looming shadow zooming towards her and a shower of glass over her.

Her screamed echoed in the catacombs of her mind as in real life, Sapphire woke up, feeling cold sweat drip down her forehead as Duck looked at her, a queer expression on his face.
"Nightmare much?"

Sapphire continued panting, trying to come to grips with the fact that she was safe... Well, sort of. At least she wasn't in that dream.

Duck stared at her for a while, uncomfortable. Everyone else was asleep. He must have been the only one to have noticed her stirring... Well, that made sense, seeing as she was leaning on him. If Mairi were there, she'd know what to do. What would she do? Heck, he wasn't any good with this sort of stuff.

"Uh... There... There?" He muttered, trying to pat her shoulder before realising his hands were hooves. "Don't... Don't worry about it. Hey... Stop... Stop freaking out... It's.............. weird... Uhhh... It's okay... I'm... Here?" Wow. That didn't sound forced at all.

Cale looked up at Mazz with wide, sparkly eyes. "Mumy.." She muttered, yawning. Within a few moments, the little girl was fast asleep in Mairi's arms.

Mairi cradled her close, continuing to sing the soft lullaby that she often sung to her children at care.

"You know, Ozzie. I've always loved this..." Ozzie glanced upwards, trying to rub the sleepiness away from his eyes.

"When I was little, I had a teddy... Timmy Bear, I called him. He was my first ever teddy, given to my after I was born, made by my Godmother. I loved him to pieces, and I used to hold him, just like this.

"As soon as I was old enough to comprehend conversations, my Godmother told me that I had to look after him, because he was the most precious gift she could ever give me. So when I was five, I was devastated when my mother told me that I couldn't take him to kindie with me. I'd wait all day every day, endure every hour, just so I could go home to him and make sure he was ok. I didn't want to let my Godmother down. She loved us kids so much; she used to treat us like her own. Even though she didn't have any children.

"But one day, I mustered up the courage to ask her why she didn't have her own kids, and she said 'I just can't'. It was so confusing, because she loved children so much. It wasn't until I was ten that I found out she was infertile and would never have a baby, no matter how hard she tried or how much she wanted one. And as her and her husband never had the money to adopt, they had to experience parenthood through other families.

"I used to think of how sad that must be. How lonely it must feel to see other women cradling their babies, knowing that you yourself would never be able to experience that same joy." She looked down at Cale and smiled sweetly. "I guess that's why I can't wait to have kids. Just so I can hold them like this and never have to give them back to another woman." And with that, she closed her eyes and began to mumble incoherently.

Ozzie blinked, unsure of what to do with such intimate information. But seeing as she'd already disengaged from the conversation, he simply shrugged and curled up into a tiny ball upon Cale's soft, chubby tummy.

(The last few posts have been fluffy and sweet XD *is happeh with this fact*)

Sapphire looked at Duck, trying to regain her composure and control her breathing. She felt somehow embarrassed at freaking out in front of him like that.

She leaned against him again, all the while feeling shaky. The dream had felt so real. She looked at Duck again, feeling her pulse slow down at the comfort in his eyes.

She had never seen this side of him before, she knew Duck was barely a year older than her, yet he felt like an older brother to her right now. She instantly calmed down and looked up at the sky. The millions of twinkling stars winked down back at her from the comfort and safety of her friends.

Duck felt something shift inside of him, probably because of the fact that no one was looking, "You wanna talk about it?" his tone was caring, not nosy.

She looked back at him, in the semi darkness, her eyes looked soft and tired. She didn't look at all like the feisty and cooky girl that he'd gotten used to over the past few months, in fact, she looked vulnerable and tired.

"You okay?" he asked again.

The chirping crickets filled the silence of the night as she settled her mind.

'No, I'm not okay. I'm worried for Mazz and Cale, I don't think I could handle it if anything happened to them. I'm feeling freaked out by the fact that I'm a horse. I'm feeling confused by the fact that I'm still having trouble controlling my powers. And I'm scared of the dark,'

But of course she's not going to say that.

"It's nothing," she murmured, resting her head on him again.

He didn't look to sure, "Well, if you need anything, I'm here, ok?" he said softly, shifting aside making more room for her to stretch her legs.

"That's sweet of you," she smiled warmly, lifting her head an inch to look at him.

He pulled a mock terrified face, "Sweet?? Don't let that get out, it'll ruin my reputation!"

Unknown to either Duck or Sapphire, Tech also had been awakened by Sapphire's freak-out. He stayed quiet, listening all around him for any signs of the wranglers. It appeared that they had gone to sleep as well. Tech yawned and layed his head down again across Cassidy's back.

Unfortunately, morning came all too soon for the Loonatics and Agent Dasyurus. It didn't help that the moment the sun came up over the trees, Dreamer was up and about. He nudged Cassidy's side. "Cassidy! Wake up! It's morning!!!"

Cassidy moaned and slowly got to her feet, er, hooves. Just as soon as she did, however, a rope came flying at her and tightened snugly around her neck. Only then did she notice the several men standing by the fence, just waiting for them to wake up....

"Guys!" Cassidy yelped. "Look out!"

Before any of the gang noticed, they each had ropes snugged tightly around their necks. After some fighting, the men managed to get the Loonatics out of the corral.

"Stay here." Cassidy ordered softly when she noticed Dreamer trying to follow her.

(....Kay.. so... the wranglers are supposed to hitch all of the wild horses they've caught up to this train engine that they wanna pull up this hill.....just like in Spirit. :3 That way they'll get their work done on this illegal railway done and have worn all the mustangs out to the point where they seem as gentle as lambs. Kay? )

Cassidy gave a sharp squeal when the wrangler yanked on the rope around her neck. If that dude kept that up, she wasn't gonna be the only one with rope burns.

After a lot of tugging, yanking, squealing, kicking and general fighting, the gang was led up to a large train engine, made exactly the same way you'd see them in those old, old western movies. With some more struggling, the wranglers hitched all eleven (I believe >_>) of them up to the train engine. There was a huge line of other horses hitched up, as well. The wranglers had effectively spread out the team.

Cassidy glanced at the mare beside her. She was covered from head to tail in mud and looked slightly underweight. Her head was hanging low, but when she lifted it and opened her eyes, Cassidy gasped. There was no missing the extremly rare trait of the mare's silver-white eyes.

"Silver Eyes!"

The mare turned to look at her. "Yes? How do you know my name?"

"My name is Cassidy. My freinds and I ran into your son yesterday, Dreamer. He's been looking for you. We promised him we'd help him find you."

Silver Eyes sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. I was so worried about him. He tends to run off a lot."

"Don't worry. My freinds and I are here to stop these people."

The wild mare smiled at her. "I believe you will."

Ozzie lifted his head and yawned. He blinked and looked around the room with droopy eyes and noticed Mairi had been staaaaaring t him. Can you say creepy? He looked at her owlishly and she didn't look away. Thos non blinking eyes were just staring at him, a silly grin plastered across her cheek. He looked around him to see if maybe it was something else she was staring at, but no. It was him. He looked back at her a moment longer before finally breaking the ice. "What?!"

"You're just so cute!" Mairi beamed like you would when your staring at the puppies on sale through the window. "You were just curled up into a tight little fuzzy ball like a tennis ball all round and fuzzy but not green and looking so cute and snoring while still looking so cute and I don't even care you snore because it is an adorable snore but it was getting kind of annoying after a while even though it was adorable and I would like for you to stop it now and try to stay awake the whole night so I don't have to hear you snore and I can just stare at how cute you are when you're awake as well!" She was still grinning.

Ozzie looked like a deer in headlights. It....wasn't seperate. That was all just one big sentence.....and he didn't know wether to be flattered or insulted. But he got the message she wanted him awake and tried to change the subject. He remembered her talking about a teddy bear earlier. That was some pretty personal information. He coughed into his paw then smiled up at her. "So! You're close with your family?"

So, when all of the horses were hitched up to the train, the wranglers picked up several long whips and cracked them, shouting to get the line moving. The horses pulled against the chains and harness, inching the train forward slowly.

Cassidy could see Icy, who was actually across from her. She could see her freind's face was drenched with sweat. It was getting hot out, so Icy must be having a hard time with the heat.

They gradually climbed up the steep slope of the mountain, reaching the peak overlooking the valley.. and the ranch.

Suddenly the line stopped. It wasn't the wild horses, or the Loonatics. It was several other horses, which the Loonatics realized they belonged to the Boswells. They got excited when they saw their home.

Ace glance around at his team, making sure everyone was okay. He was just in time to see Icy faint to the ground....

"Icy!?" They heard Rev cry out in surprise and worry. The horses immidiatly stopped, some pulling back in they're surprise and surrounded the balck and white paint.

The man riding Cloud stopped and looked down at what was happening. He called behind him to some of the other riders to get some mules and rope so that they could drag Icy out of the line. Rev was three horses behind her but he tried to shove himself forwad as the men unhitched her and began to tie her up. "Ic--huh?" Rev stopped mid name when the horse opened her eye just enough to look at him and Cassidy and wink. The other two excahnged puzzled looks. What was she doing?

Cassidy glanced up at Tech, who was a few horses ahead of her. His head was craned backwards trying to see what was happening. His eyes locked with Cassidy's and they exchanged confused looks.

(I believe Seren remembers what happens next, so I'll give her the honour.....)

MEANWHILE:

Cale was still snuggled in Mairi's arms, but had recently woken up. She kept quiet, staring at Ozzie from her spot.

"Fewwet." She mumbled, still tired.

Mairi stroked Cale's cheek affectionately, pulling her closer so she wouldn't be cold. "Close to my family? I guess I used to be... Before I got stranded here. I haven't seen them in a while... 7 years... It's been so long." she sighed, clinging to Cale tighter. "I miss my nieces." She mumbled.

(Actually Cass, I'd rather you do it because I'm still foggy on the details. We'll trade and pick it up as we go so we can get into the flow of this little action scene. ;) )

Ozzie nodded as he leaned back, his paws behind him propping him up. "Yeah. Know the feeling. I haven't seen my family in a while. 15 aunts. 27 uncles. 174 cousins." His thought drifted off and his eye became distant and cloudy. "I always wanted to get out of their. It was jsut too quiet. The sheltered life just didn't seem enough....Now I kind of regret it. I wanted to see other worlds and made the ultimate sacrafice."As he said the last part he looked down at himself and clung softly to some of his own fur. His far off aura went away though and he looked up at Mairi smiling once more. "So, Mairi, tell me about your neices! I didn't know you had any siblings actually."

Mairi smiled softly. "Three older brothers and an older sister. I was the baby and they all treated me as such. I always wanted to be like Veronica. But being the eldest, it was almost impossible for her to find time for me. My brother Nathan is the one with the girls. Hannah and Taya. They're so beautiful." Her smile faded. "They'd both be in primary school now. Flop it, I've missed Hannah's first day..." She sighed, before hearing some rustling nearby. Both her and the ferret turned and stared. Ben stirred and moaned. "Ugh... What happened?"

Ozzie smiled slyly at him. "You re having a bad dreeeaaam. You are dreaming of talking ferrets and bad outlaws that turn super heroes into horses. Gooooo tooooo sleeeeepppp Beeeeeeennnnn......" His jewel pulsed, sending out soothing waves of sleepy gold light. Ben yawned.

Back on the line (again)

Quick gsaped when Icy came by. Not having seen her wink she turned urgently to see anyone she could find. She was way off on the side, and could see no one at first, but then out of the corner of her eye, a swift movement, even for a horse.

'Rev' she thought and proceesed to swing her chains and neigh in a whisper, trying to get his attention.

She was highly surprised to see he wasn't alarmed. And this slightly upset her, and made her even MORE fustrated!

"Crap! I never know what's going on!" she said to herself.

Several moments passed by as Icy's legs were tied together and she was dragged out of the line. Only the stamping of hooves and a few snorts were heard. The Loonatics stared in wonder at their white-and-black teammate was taken away.

Just as the mules reached the end of the line, where the train engine was hitched up, Icy's eyes shot open and her back legs flailed as she struggled to free herself. The moment the chains were loosened, she lept to her hooves and charged forward, flying over the harness chains connecting the line of horses to the engine.

The gang jumped around, shouting and cheering for Icy.

Icy spun around, being cornered by the wranglers. She squealed and snapped at them, chasing them away. She swiftly kicked at the chain lock until it broke, freeing half of the horses. Then she spun around and did the same to the other.
