I like him because he's calm but can also be really funny. Plus he's smart.

All of the above! And more! Tech's got brains, amazing weapons, incredible powers, cute looks, impressive moves, a cool personality and the rest of the Loonatics heavily rely on him. He's the perfect hero!

I'm going to be honest about my feelings now. I think if Tech right now is a Gary-Stu. I mean, he's a genius who churns out brilliant inventions in no time at all. He's cute, being kinda tall and lean. He has the power to self-heal, making him essentially invinsible. He bravely stopped Mallory from stealing the knowledge from the other students at Achme Tech. He's also got skill in martial arts, despite what everyone says about him spending so much time in his lab. *cough not very plausable cough*.

Okay, after reading all that, try to tell me Tech's not a Gary-Stu. Really. Try.

This is why I always thought it wasn't very fair that everyone called Ace a Gary-stu during the first season, yet totally ignored the above points about Tech. Ace isn't paticularly intelligent, ( in fact, he's kinda way too trusting and gullible) he got the short end of the stick when it comes to powers (laser vision. That doesn't really do a lot of damage most of the time.) Before the meteor hit, he was kind of a loser, being a stunt double (that realistically wouldn't make a lot of money) who probably got the crap beaten out of him more than once. He's a master of martial arts, but he has to practice. A lot. (we see him do so several times in the series. "Attack of the Fuzzballs" and "Comet Cometh" are the first episodes that come to mind. "Comet Cometh" was especially telling: he was practicing intensly late at night before an important mission in space. Now THAT'S dedication! )

Frankly, I just saw Ace as more obvious because he was more annoying to me. Tech has some Gary-Stu traits, no doubt. But then he's also a gigantic nerd with no social life. He isn't "cool" in the traditional sense (thought the fangirls may disagree). He's the team geek and he pays personally for all that genius. I think that sort of helped him stay only on the fringes of my GS radar system,

I never really saw Ace as stupid. Usually Duck is given that dubious honor.

Hmm, this could be quite an interesting debate: is Tech more perfect than Ace? Well like Martiangirl says, Tech is portrayed as a nerd that constantly is working away in his lab, creating brilliant inventions as a hobby, nevermind as a job! But then like Anna says, Tech also seems to possess alot of admirable traits for someone that supposedly 'doesn't get out much', like above average physical fitness, good looks, superior intelligence, willingness to die (several times in fact!) for his fellows, gets on alright with the other Loonatics etc!

But the main reason everyone sees Ace as 'too perfect' is coz his flaws, if any, are downgraded so that they hardly seem like faults at all. Ace always has a cool-headed and easy-going personality on the show and he makes his job look easy. Other characters like Duck, in a total reversal of fortunes, seems to suffer terribly from having their flaws highlighted to the point that they are made to look incompetent and unfortunate. In Tech's case, i think the flaws about him that are made obvious are: his addiction to lab work and hence poor social life, his unusual emotional attachments to "his babies" which causes his extreme mourning reaction to any of his works being destroyed, and his misfortune in often having to suffer from cruel physical punishments like being blown up. For these reasons, we don't view Tech as being 'too perfect' like Ace. Although upon closer analysis, we may find that Ace has flaws too, like being quite gullible, and that Tech is not as geeky as first impressions would indicate!

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head, Black_Oracle. The writers probably wanted Ace to seem so cool, they downgraded his flaws so much in the first season. Now that they're in season 2, they'll probably let those flaws show up more often.

I do like that Ace might be a little more popular with fans now that he`s been less perfect in recent episodes. I just hope the Gary-Stu ragging goes down a little.

Yeah, it was actually Tech's voice that first really got my attention as i tuned in to my first ever ep of LU! It just has a cool, deep, heroic ring to it i think. I can't explain it, but Tech's voice does stand out as the coolest out of the Loonatics in my opinion!

Yeah, `cuz while I may just be missing something, I`ve seen no indication so far that Lexi and Tech hold any kind of feeling aside from that of a close sibling bond for each other. Sure, while their personalities might yield to a good pairing (an understanding, complex mind and a sensitive, emotional heart) how do we know Tech and Lexi are really the other`s type?

I don`t think Tech would even want to go near women that way again after what happened with Mallory (I think he`s so obsessed with gadgets because he`s afraid of winding up with another female enemy like Mallory. Heck, he might just fall in love with a computer program only for it to go badly later).

Still, it`s your opinion, ruthchang93, so I have to respect that, just like you`d respct my opinion that Ace/Lexi would make for a great couple.

Erm...I was thinking at school(during Russian class, the most boring class) and figured that I don't really support it. I just...like the idea of them being together. Dunno why, though...

I love Tech for all the reasons mentioned on this page... He's actually like the kind of guys I've dated ('cept they weren't as smart as Tech).

He's gorgeous!

He's intelligent, so you can have a decent conversation with him. I bet that he could take you out star-gazing and he could tell you what all the constellations are... ^_^ I love star-gazing! *hearts*

He's into what he does; he has a real passion for his inventions! I hold a deep respect for ppl who have found something like that in their life... And when he works on his inventions, he gets stuck into it, like, REALLY gets into it... so you could just sit there and draw or write or something while he's making something... and it'd be bonding without conversing... which is always fun! ^_^

Even though he comes across as anti-social, he still has good ppl skills. And like someone said, he gets his daily socialisation from the ppl he lives with, which is probable why he doesn't go out often. I live in a house with 7 other ppl, and the amount of socialising I do with them satisfies me to the point where I hardly ever leave the house, 'cept for school.

Tech is my favourite because he's the most real to me... I've met and liked ppl like him before... not once have I come across someone as determined and loyal as Ace (prolly coz I'm in high-school and boys my age tend to be really immature and uncaring). And I've never met anyone as self-absorbed as Duck... except for my brother... but my brother isn't quite as bad as Duck... ^_^ And Duck's cooler than my brother 'coz he has sexy powers! X3
