Hey all, here`s another topic from the resident comedian/analyst/author-to-be on the site! Here, I`m listing what force of nature or space I think each Loonatic could possibly represent, starting with:
Ace - the Sun
As we all know, Ace is generally a happy guy. He may not be all bubbly and cheery, but he`s always making a good first impression, and he`s genuinely friendly and encouraging. But, what`s more, he gives hope to all around him, including the team, much like the sun is a symbol of hope in our world, a message that we will see another bright day full of warmth and light (in at least part of the world). Nighttime, symbolically representing darkness, is also chased away upon the arrival of the sun`s light.
Likewise, many see Ace as destined to bring the light to the world, leading the `Tics in a valiant battle against evil. He even bears the color yellow as his team color, much like the sun shines bright and golden.
Lexi - the Moon
I once heard a wise phrase: a moon cannot shine without a sun, but it is the moon who guides the lost and weary through the night (actually, this was inspired by something I heard in Chrono Cross). That describes Lexi perfectly. While pink is not a color typically associated with the moon, there are several qualities these two have in common.
For one, the moon often symbolizes love and beauty, two qualities we here at LUO often attribute to Lexi. And, the moon is seen as a proverbial mirror to the sun; likewise, Lexi seems to reflect Ace`s sense of hope and promise of light, guiding the weary through the night. Where the sun cannot shine, the moon will glow. And, the moon`s light is a promise that the sun will return.
You can see that the moon is a lonely object, alone in a sea of stars without a companion, much like how some of us see Lexi as fearing rejection, and maybe feeling alone and unwanted. But, when that day finally comes where sun and moon come together, we see something beautiful and unusual happen (that was a hint, by the way, for you shippers out there). So, while the sun may banish the dark, the moon guides lost ones through it.
Duck - Water
We all know Duck is the first choice for representing water. Like water, he is a flexible character who moves like the waves, and in theory he should be a cool, smooth mingler. Of course, we all know it isn`t true. But, he does, at least outwardly. Deep inside, though, Duck probably feels insecure and in need of attention/praise, much like how water depends on solid foundation to stay up, unless it`s treated with cold, in which case it will withdraw and harshen up itself, though it`s still fragile on the inside, and will return to it`s former state if given enough warmth.
Duck`s association with water through his Aqua-Dense makes this symbolism a no-brainer. While Lexi might`ve been a candidate, she represents the moon, which is seen as having a connection to water, always pulling the water or, in much later time, getting pulled by it, representing a distant but always present relationship. Water is also known to represent a duality of gentle calm and furious rage (and to a lesser extent harsh cold), shown how Duck was seen caring for Wonderffluff in AOTFB, and how he viciously doused a robot in Acmegeddon, Part II to escape, showing he has a resourceful side when he really needs it (not to mention yet another link to water).
Water also covers the planet. That makes it the first thing we notice when we take a look at the globe, much like how Duck seems to steal the show whether the episode concentrates on him or not. Finally, water is known to be deep and decieving, much like how Duck sometimes has a more secretive side to him when he`s trying to keep a secret (I can swear he was trying to hide something once or twice in the show).
Tech - Earth
For one, Tech is very down-to-earth when it comes to matters of the world. I don`t recall Tech ever rambling on about an ideal view or far away pipe dream, but just the practical side of things. Tech also refrains from emotion except when he`s been personally wronged, much like how earth will remain calm about matters other than itself.
Earth is also a supportive force, much like Tech when his friends really need him (as seen, once again, in Acmegeddon, Part II, and in Family Business). Tech`s abiltiy to manipulate metal also brings to mind a relation to matter, as does his creative interest and joy of working with his hands. Green is also an earthy color depending on the setting, and Tech`s ancestral habit of falling down long drops (as seen in Family Business, and many Wile E. Coyote shorts) and planting himself into the dirt also lends him to earth, perhaps comically.
Rev - Fire
Let`s face it, although Rev flies like an ace, he`s got some serious fire. For one, a fire graphic often accompanies Rev when he`s flying, and maybe sometimes running. Some of us also see Rev as potentially wielding some form of fire power, befitting his red color and energetic personality.
Rev is also eager to please, and ready to help the team at a moment`s notice. However, he also shows his fiery side when he gets into the occasional argument with Duck or Tech, and some feel he`d have a fiery rivalry with Speedy`s descendant if they ever met. Fire is also known for it`s creativity, much like Rev, who apparently built the rocket skates he used while in his delivery service, as well as had a hand in the creation of Robo-Amigo.
Slam - Air
You might`ve expected Slam to correspond to fire or earth, but it`s time to put an end to the stereotype of wind being weak. For one, air is seen as a transparent and often up-front force, much like Slam who rarely ever hides anything, and seems to have little character development at this time. His tornado powers are an obvious nod to air, as is the concept of expansive air applying to his expansive stomache. Air can also be a wild, destructive force when it rages, much like Slam.
Air is said to represent dualities of scatterbrainedness and genius, which Slam did once have an epiphany when they were fighting Gorlop. Another duality would be that of a gentle breeze, or a furious gale, again representing Slam`s personality of extremes quite well.
Zadavia - Light
Well, aside form the pretty rainbow flashes accompanying her powers, Zadavia opened the `Tics eyes, so to speak, to their destinies. Besides being a revealer, light can also be seen to represent fresh beginnings and grand finales, both of which would seem to accompany Zadavia.
Light is also frequently depicted as the ultimate force of good, and sometimes the ultimate power altogether, which would certainly fit with Zadavia seemingly far outclassing the` Tics as a superpower (more like a hyperpower in Zadavia`s case), and serving as the prime motivation behind their fight against evil.
Wise mentors in fantasy are also often depicted as associating with light, which again brings Zadavia to mind. White is also the color of pure, unaltered light, which seems to be Zadavia`s "team" color. That, and the multiple colors accompanying her hologram and powers reflects the various colors of refracted light, which brings the `Tics to mind, how they manage to split her goodness between them with their various colors, although they are noticeably missing the color blue (which makes me cringe, as that`s my favorite color), and to a lesser extent, cyan.
So. what`d you all think? I brainstormed this on the night I wrote it, so it shows how active my mind can be. Hope you all enjoyed the read, and maybe we`ll even see this added to the analyses section soon...
woah, weird,i'm useing the elements in the fanasty au loonatics story i'm doing and thats the exact elements i gave to the chars (well, save tech who has steel, which is technicaly earth and zadavia doesn't have an element in the story though she has an important role.)
Tech could just be symbolised by metal, it's an element in the Chinese Zodiac, along wtih water, wood, air, fire and earth i think. Interesting analysis on the Loonatics and their possible representative symbols there Crossfire! Zadavia 'the guiding light', Ace 'the sun around which all the other planets revolve', Lexi 'the intuitive, emotional moon', Duck 'the water bird', Slam 'the air controller', Tech 'rooted in Earth' and Rev 'the firey pheonix'!
I have to say that Rev should get some sort of fire power. If he had a more offensive attack, he'd get more screen time. For some reason, I can see a phoenix coming into play for a fire attack... But awesome symbolism! I can relate and see the resemblances very well!
You're right, Rev should definetly have an offensive and special attack. Also, he should be able to fight more; instead of just running or flying around a villain. I only got to see him actually get out in the field once.

... I'm not an anti-Rev. I just really love Kuzco.
Maybe some sort of Phoenix Fire Strike could allow Rev to utilize his speed as an attack, by jumping and kicking or downright slamming into an enemy while engulfed in flame. His flight could also be converted to a fiery dive-bomb. So, he keeps moving, but while on fire.
On the subject of fire, here`s a thought if he and Slam tried a combo attack: If Slam spun at full speed, and Rev ran circles around him the other way, could they possibly produce a ring or pillar of flame around Slam due to air getting caught between them and heating up due to friction?
In "World is my Circus", Rev and Slam did combine their speeds to create a sonic boom around the mutated Ringmaster. Rev formed a ring of fire which was merged together with Slam's tornado maximizer in the resulting whirlpool. Those two together seriously could be the most destructively powerful force of the Loonatics i think!
Crossfire wrote: Not quite. The whole team together could be the most destructively powerful force in the series. They might even be a match for Zadavia or Optimatus.
Ooo, good point. I never really thought about that. Hmm, all the Loonatics against Optimatus or Zadavia...that makes me think of all sorts of possible stories! Yes, individually, the Loonatics would be overpowered by the likes of Optimatus, but together, they would probably be a match. They'd just have to make sure they don't bump into one another while they are all charging at Optimatus tho'! Ha! Ha!
Akira_Cat wrote: Why does the word "Power Rangers" spring into my mind? I don't know. Just the way the teamwork goes I suppose.
Y'know when i first watched this show, it did make me think of power rangers when i saw Zadavia who is very reminiscent of Zordon. And the colour coding system that the Loonatics go by is also very much like the different colours that the power rangers identify themselves with. So that would mean...
Ace: Yellow ranger power! *Transforms power ranger style into a yellow ranger suit and then holds up his sword into the air in a He-man-like manner.*
Lexi: Pink ranger power! *Transforms into a pink ranger and stands in a very feminine posture.*
Duck: Orange ranger power! *Transforms into an orange ranger.* Urgh! Why do i have to wear the disgusting orange coloured suit!
Slam: Burabahraboo, purple ranger power! *Transforms into a purple ranger.* Tadah!
Tech: Green ranger power! *Transforms into a green ranger with lightning bolts flashing in the background behind him.*
Rev: Red ranger power! Hah! *Transforms into a red ranger.*

All Loonatics together: Looney Rangers, GO!
Wait...if Rev is red, then shouldn't he be the leader?
GSS: Close enough. Take me to him/her (select appropriate)!
Me: So if you can really talk, how come you didn't talk in that episode "The secrets of the guardian strike sword"?
GSS: Well Warner Bros thought it would be too "wierd" for me to talk. So the only animated thing I could do was change into a different shape when Ace uses my power.
Me: Which means a lot of AA batteries?
GSS: Oh yeah.
Me: But I thought Warner Bros would make you talk. They do completely random stuff like that all the time. Take that episode with Stomper. They don't call a giant cow crashing through the roof in Duck's bedroom random?
GSS: Eehh, fans would probably find it weird and annoying for me to talk. They most probably think I'd hog Ace's limelight when he's meant to be the main character.
Me: Mmhhmm... weird that you can get an interesting conversation with an inanimate object like a sword. People consider that one of the signs of insanity.
Jessica: Oh, hi, Ace! See, we was talking to the Guardian Strike Sword, who just randomly started talking about stuff and then Akira was saying that talking to the GSS probably indicated that you would be insane, which I might be, due to influence.

Ace: Um.
You know... we could get a really interesting character out of the GSS. A very deep character if you ask me.
GSS: Really?
Me: Sure! I mean who would not want to talk to such a deep character that we never considered before.
Oddity: You might be even a deeper character than even Ace!
Ace: Hey! There's no way that an object is going to steal my limelight!
Snatches the sword and takes the AA batteries out and chucks them away.
Me and Oddity: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! THEIR SOURCE OF LIFE!
Hi Mindy Nurse! Me and Oddity were just swooning over Ace's Guardian Strike Sword. But he took the batteries out of it so we managed to rescue them so we're just gonna put them back inside the sword now.

Puts batteries inside the GSS.
GSS: Woah. What happened?
Oddity and Me: Aaah.
You're swooning over a sword? Well i guess swords are very cool things!

Aha-aha-AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA- -faints-
Bugs Bunny doll: It sounded like she was going to sneeze or something. Weird.
Crossfire wrote:I hear that. Swords >>> all other weapons, and energy blades (aka lightsabers) > all other swords.I think lightsabers are cool too. But too many swords and they can get rather boring. I also like other traditional weapons like bows and arrows, staffs and oriental weaponry. But guns in-built into an exosuit or robot often strike me as cool too.
Well, other weapons can be cool too. I love blue-colored energy weapons of most any kind, especially sabers and blasters. Unusual weapons like disk-shaped `rangs can be cool too.

Crossfire, you really know your stuff! The analysis you've made with each Loonatic member and their association with the elements was beautiful, true and absolutely flawless!
It was so beautiful on how you described them that I usually like to read it over-and-over in my free time.
Wow Crossfire! Everything you put up seems to be pretty deep and thought through carefully. These were really beautiful and fit them perfectly in my opinon!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ that would be pretty interesting.ace as tuxedo mask would be funny and cool...
