Meanwhile, Quick, who just happened to walk in the room when Seth suddenly freaked out again, proceeded to do the first thing that came to mind after all she processed was,

newspaper

and, almost too suddenly for she herself to understand, Quick used her powers to throw what she sould only describe as a hunk of sheet metal at her boyfriend's head. Knocking him unconsious yet again.

Lexi turned in time to see Quick's eyes fade from white to thier usual hazel. She only blinked as the mouse gasped and looked around speedily.

"Ay dios mio!" the girl ran to a nearby cabinet and began to search frantically.

"Quick! What are you--" Lexi was cut off by her friend running past, blowing her blonde hair and ears in the breeze. "..doing?"

But the bunny was answered when she saw her small friend 'quickly' bandaging Slam's arm, almost entirely ignoring the unconsious Seth beside her.

"Oh Slam, it's alright, you'll be fine." the little mouse conforted the tasmanian devil.

(....Quick has a thing against leaving wounds untended to.)

Dusk gave Quick a worried glance.
"What do you suppose is wrong with Seth?" he asked, poking at the alchemist's side.
"We can undo it...right?"

"Well, he was mind controlled, obviamente. That's all I can tell." Quick continued to bandage Slam's arm.
"I'm sure Tech can fix him." she spared a worried glance at the boy in question.

"Especially since it's his brother." Lexi shooed away Dusk's finger from Seth's still body.

"Yah." Slam grunted and smiled down at his little nurse, patting her gently on he head with his hand. Quick smiled back at Slam, and continued to talk to Dusk.

"That was muy creepy though. The way he looked all insano in the eyes. I didn't know Seth could look that loco." the girl leaned back on her large purple friend and looked over the motionless coyote.

"It was kinda caliente." she grinned and everyone gave her strange looks.

It was then that Mairi spoke, having slung the unconscious Duck over her shoulders and stood, facing everyone with an incredibly serious expression.

"Let's move this business along, kidlets." she order, before spinning around and leaving the room.

A FEW MINUTES LATER!

In the confinement level of the tower, Seth was gently placed on a makeshift bed within the same room that Opi-what's-his-face was stored some time ago. As Rev and Dusk left the room and locked to door, Tech fiddled with some gadgets and made some calculations...

"Soooo whacha gonna do Teach?" Quick glanced from under his shoulder....yes under.

"I'm going to find a way to reverse the effects of the mind control. It's possible that I can isolate the cause of Seth's brain wave reversal and use a device too neutralize it. In doing so we can also discover a way to prevent this from happening a second time, or may possibly turn the tables on our mysterious knight villian when we go rescue Maria."

Tech continued to type feverishly, not even turning a glance toward his old pupil.
Meanwhile, Quick's eyes had crossed as she began to feel dizzy with all the information rolled her way.

"I should've anticipated that." the girl stumbled away holding her head.

"Just don't look too much into the bump en la cabeza, that was mi mal." she yelled back in spanish, but most was translated for your benifit. (83)

Tech paused for a second...and then took a moment to recalculate.

Meanwhile, out in the living room area, Rose was seated on one of the couches, Cassidy's head lying on her lap. The older coyote was gently stroking her daughter's hair, bringing Cassidy's fire-red bangs out of her eyes. Icy was sitting in one of the bean bag chairs nearby, watching, but trying not to look interested. She felt a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach.

Rose noticed Icy staring off into space. "Iciana?" She asked. "Are you alright?"

Icy blinked, snapping herself back to reality. "Who? Me? Oh, yeah! I'm fine." She smiled at Rose to reassure her.

Before Rose could question her further, Cassidy's head tossed and she groaned. "Maria.."

"Shhh... Hush, Aurora.. You're alright..."

Cassidy slowly opened her eyes. "Mother?" She whispered. "Where's Maria?"

Rose's face became grave with concern for a fleeting moment before she smiled comfortingly. "Wait till you've rested a bit more, Aurora. You're still very weak."

Cassidy opened her mouth to protest, but before she had a chance, she felt an immense weight on his abdomen. After squeaking in surprise, she looked down to see a semi-large tummy ahead of her.

Mairi grinned down at Cassidy. Just... Grinned.

"........... Mazz..."

"I just wanted to sit on you. There's no real reason behind it. I just felt like it." the lyrebird explained.

Icy sighed.

"Duck isn't awake yet, is he?"

Mairi's face turned into an instant pout, her lower eyelids drawn up and her bottom lip trembling. "If he loved me, he'd be awake."

"Your logic... Doesn't make any sense." Icy frowned.

"It makes sense to me."

"Well, I guess that's what matters then."

Mairi beamed. "Thank you!" She then skipped away to find someone else to draw attention from.

Mairi looked down at Sapphire, lying flat on her back, a pillow propping her head up. “Flop it! She’s been out longer then Tech said!”

With that, she pulled out a barrel of ice from seemingly nowhere and dumped it over the girl.

The door to the confinment room was being pounded on by a certain alchemist.
"Well flop it! Does that boy EVER stay still?" Mairi yelled, grabbing the broken oven that she had placed right beside her for safe keeping.
"Um. Let's just leave him be." Dusk suggested, swiping the oven from the lyre's hands.
Loud snarling was then heard and more pounding.
"MAMA! MAMA!" Seth screamed.
Mazz looked towards Quick.
"I think he's calling for you."
Quick rolled her eyes.
"He's never called me THAT before."
Tech emerged and smiled sheepishly.
"Nothing to worry about. He can't get out."
"And the mom thing?" Icy questioned.
"The mind control scrambled up his memory. It'll wear of soon."
More banging and shouting and God knows what echoed through out the halls as Tech continues to try and cure Seth.

Icy shook her head. "This is getting a little out of hand. What next? Is HQ going to blow up?"

"Don't jinx it!" Quick shouted as she looked around nervously.

Icy stared at her. "Paranoid?"

Quick shook her head. "Not as much as him." She pointed to Tech, who for some reason was now wearing a tinfoil hat.

Rwev zipped up from behind Tech and tapped him on the shoulder. "Uh, Tech? What's with the the hat?"

Tech looked a little bashful as he turned to reply. "Um.....anti mind control helmet?"

The funny thing is...The zombies had absolutely nothing to do with poor Seth's current condition! Granted, the Lich General had smashed his head twice in a row, once on the ceiling and once on the floor, but that was it. If he were to see Seth right now, he would have been laughing is bones off.

Instead, he was returning to his captive after having raided a Wendy's. General Dakkarsis handed a little bag stinking of greasy Wendy's take-away to a freshly revived Zombie and said, "for the Master. Oh, and by the way, get rid of all that flesh. It makes you smell bad," at which the zombie nodded obediently and disappeared into a green vorpal.

After throwing another bag to Maria, the General stomped off to a crate in one of the darker areas of the room where he would plop down, throw off his helmet, and whip out a small bottle reading Purity SUPREMOL Embalming Fluid which he very carefully began to spread all over his skull. Even dead people worry about cleanliness. Without even bothering to look at her, the Lich addressed Maria.

"Well, missy, I've been ordered to give you three choices. Either you allow us to ship you back to your planet and never leave it again, you let us seal your powers away forever, or...just let us kill you." He went silent for a bit before adding, "Only an idiot would take that last choice."

"We don't want your powers," he stated simply, removing his gauntlets to wax his hands. "In fact, that's the point. We would rather you never had them in the first place. But you do...and that's bad." He paused, then decided to save the rest of the preserver for later and capped the bottle. "So, you've gotten as far as to move objects, huh? I bet it hurts." He sat back and tried to imagine something, shaking his head and giving up a moment later.

Maria glared at him, but her glare had a spark of curiousity in it. "What do you mean? Those ARE my powers."

"Yeah? Wonderful. Well, not to make it sound cheesy or anything, but your powers consist of more than just telepathy and telekinesis. If you fully realize your powers, you might as well be called a Goddess." He hesitated. "...Nothing against you, but my Master would rather see you die before you even so much as get that far."

"MAMA! Tech's trying to hurt me! Send him to bed!"
Icy couldn't help but giggle a bit.
"I know this isn't a laughing matter...but I can't help myself." she snorted.
That didn't stop Quick, who was rolling on the floor laughing hystarically, pratically crying.
As for Cassidy.
"Aren't you all at least a bit worried?"
The laughing stopped.
"Some jerk just took my sister and we're just sitting here! What are we going to do about it!?" she shrieked.

"Aurora, relax. You're getting yourself worked up." Rose tried to comfort her.

"Of course I'm getting worked up, Mother! After Father and Andrew I don't have it in me to survive losing another part of my family! We need to find her now!!"

Cassidy blinked, staring at her mother. "Whut?"

"You and Maria can speak telepathically, remember? She's the only one you can speak to this way."

"Well, we don't know exactly where she is. For all we know she could be right underneath us." Tech pointed out.

Cassidy nodded. "True.... okay..... I'm gonna try..." She took in a deep breath, closing her dark chestnut eyes and focusing. 'Maria....where are you?!'

Mairi then launched herself from Dusk's back and ran into the next room, planting her beak on the door that barred Seth from the rest of the team. "D'ya wanna fight about it, you little rippah!?" She giggled insanely.

Whether or not Cassidy made contact with her sister depended on how well they could communicate from a distance of ten miles. The Lich General sat propped against the cold marble wall, so still that it was almost as if he returned to being completely dead.

But really he was waiting for Maria's decision. It was completely up to her to decide whether she would go back to Sari and be condemned to living there forever, have her powers sealed, or die.

'Cassidy?!!! Oh, thank goodness! I was worried! I saw Sapphire and you collide and-'

'Maria, relax. I'm okay. At the moment our only worry is you. Can you tell me anything about where you are? Can you see anything?'

Maria paused to take a good look at her surroundings. 'N-no...' She stared wide-eyed at the Lich General. 'Baby Sis..... I-I'm scared.'

'Don't worry, the others and I are coming. We'll get you out. I promise...'

"Hey," The knight's voice boomed out from practically nowhere. Like clockwork, his bones creaked back into motion at which point he SMASHED the tip of one of his sabers into the floor from its sheath so that it almost dug into the marble, sparks flitting up into the air a bit. "What the HELL are you doing? I swear, if you use your powers at ALL, I'll take that as an indirect decision to die. GOT IT?"

How did he know Maria was communicating psychically? ...Intuition. Nothing to do with powers or anything like that. He didn't have any, technically.

Seth smiled devishly through the small see-threw glass that was drilled into the door. Staring at Mairi with narrowed physcotic eyes, licking his lips as though he was hungry.
"Now, now, dear. Try not to get c.ocky if you know what's good for you." he laughed darkly.

Dakkarsis hesitated, then pulled the blade from the floor violently and....sheathed it. Almost apologetically, which was probably the most unexpected thing to see an undead knight do.
He then eased back against the wall, slumping like a rag-doll once his back touched it.

Tech then re-entered the room back in HQ, a tired smile on his face upon realizing that both girls were awake. “How are you feeling?” he said, sitting down by Rose and touching Cassidy’s hand. “Never better,” Cassidy rolled her eyes but stopped halfway upon realizing the strain it put on her head.

“Glad to see how much you care about me,” Sapphire said in a serious tone, her familiar cheeky smile creeping back. Tech smiled nearly apologetically, nearly as the keyword XD.

“No, I didn’t forget about you. In fact,” he waved a familiar gold bar in her face, “I found this in my lab.” He flipped the bar at her and it landed on her lap.

She stared at it for a long 10 seconds before looking back at him, “Tech, if you weren’t a coyote or engaged to Cassidy, I’d kiss you.” With that, she curled up on the couch and began the process of munching into the chocolate brar.

(We need to start planning on how to get Maria back....... I THINK!!! But then I never think, so I can't really be sure. FACT!!)

What could cure Seth? And how were they going to save Maria?
Why was there icecream on the couch, and when did Slam start licking at it?....Had she seen him? What flavor is it?...It's a wonder that isn't Ace liking that ice cream.....Dude loves that stuff, just like Saph really loves her chocolate.....
You know what?....Cheese is really good...Were her Cheez-It's still in the kitchen?...no...no...she ate them last night...maldito, now she'll have to go buy more...but with all that's going on it won't be for a loooong while.
Hmmm...

there should be something cheesy on the list for the catering....Maybe she should call her mother for a recipe...She should call her mother...No. She'd just put her brothers on the phone, and they'd all complain about the changes without her there....

That could get so freaking annoying.

Just like Seth's screaming.......yeah......YEAH!

"STOP MOCKING ME! I KNOW YOURE THEREEEEEEE!!!!" Seth screamed at Mairi who backed up but still giggled at her handiwork.

"Mazz, Ace's right. You really should leave him alone." Quick turned to the lyre bird. "Who knows what loco pensamientos are going through his cabeza with you doing that."

Mairi blinked and her head tilted to the side...."Eh?"

Before Quick could answer, Duck walked into the room. He held his head and appeared rather groggy. "What hit m-"

"BUUUUUBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"

Before the mallard even had time to flinch at the annoyingly pitched scream, she was already clinging to him. Her arms had siezed his head, her torso curled over his skull and her legs wrapped around his chest... She was no longer touching the floor.

"Oh boy..." Duck managed to squeak before his legs gave out beneath him, the two collapsing to the floor in a heap of feathers, cries and giggles.

Quick blinked, momentarily stunned by....that.

Then with a singe nod she turned her head from the scene and attempted to pretend itdidn't happen...

But she lasted only seconds before she burst out laughing at what sounded like Duck's muffled screams for air.
